Welcome Back

So Yesterdays Wrestlemania 16 or 2000 scores a very poor 61.4 only good enough for 12th place..Only beating 4 other Wrestlemanias..

Today is a Wrestlemania that i predict will score high. it was the last Wrestlemania that Triple H was in a None Title match, Vince's first WM he wrestled in, The first Angle/Benoit match, The 2nd of 3 Rock/Austin bouts.. It's.

What a Wrestlemania truly should be.

i liked the Austin Heel change in his home state with no one having a fuckin clue of what was going on.

Great angles on the matches including Taker vs Triple H (with entrance done live for the first time)

Plus Paul E. on commentary...gold

this is what Wrestlemania is all about. It had the most hyped main-event in WWE history (Rock vs Austin II which turned out to be awesome), HHH vs Taker was an AMAZING FUCKING MATCH, TLC STOLE THE SHOW with some amazing spots, and Shane vs Vince told a great story. Angle vs Benoit is way over-rated though

9.5. The build up with the Limp Bizkit "My Way" video was incredible and really captured the mood of the main event.

Rock and Austin had what was probably their greatest ever match.

The Gimmick Battle Royal was great, especially for the return of the under-appreciated REPO MAN!

Vince McMahon's greatest in-ring hour against his son, Shane-O-Mac, who performed a shocking Van Trashcaninator on his father which we all just KNEW he wasn't going to be able to pull off when we realised what he was attempting, but he did it!

The Hardcore Triple Threat was more of a comedy match but it was still very good.

Undertaker vs HHH was surprisingly good, considering Taker was the pits around this time. (He really had a career turnaround when he turned heel at the end of this year.) Then again, Trips was in his prime here, and really WAS "That Damn Good", for about a year anyway.

The TLC match was incredible, and saw the debuts of Spike Dudley and Rhyno.

The only thing that stops me rating it a 10, however....

The six-man tag was nothing more than a filler to get Bradshaw on the show in his home state. Tazz was awful in this match, really bad, he even botched an Irish Whip.

The opener was a disappointment considering Jericho was one half of the match. Unfortunately, Regal was the other half. (Regal isn't a bad wrestler, as long as he is facing somebody who complements his style. As the WWE contains virtually NO-ONE who does this, maybe he should stick to being an inactive character. Just a thought.)

Angle vs Benoit was nowhere near as good as they are capable of, or indeed have given us since, and was marred by a confusing and sudden ending.

Guerrero vs Test was another filler, and was too short to be considered a good match.

Chyna vs Ivory was the pits, Right To Censor had already run it's course, and I don't believe we ever saw Chyna again after this match. Thankfully.

But the rest of the show was so great I still qualify it for the 9.5 rating. The Austin heel turn, while expected, was a breath of fresh air. Same goes for Paul Heyman on commentary. The wrestling business was buzzing with the WCW buy-out and the closure of ECW. Fan interest was at an all-time high. It had the big time show feel to it. And for sentimental reasons too, this really was a great time to be a wrestling fan (and a great period in my life, personally, too.) Many see this show as the beginning of the WWE's creative downfall, and I guess that argument holds a lot of weight. I mean, how could they ever creatively top WrestleMania x-Seven?

10 all the way. My most favorite WM of all time. I was so pumped for Austin/Rock, and being a huge Austin mark, I was just shocked at the ending of the event. Not just that match, but TLC, Taker/HHH, the first Angle/Benoit encounter, Vince/Shane Street Fight, Hardcore title match, and even the Gimmick Battle Royal all made this event special.

Simply because this is when the WWF/E bookers were hungry for success.

Also, AAA actually lost :y: but what are you going to expect from Taker

First wrestling event I ever went to. Amazing stadium, amazing fan reactions to everything, most matches pretty amazing, my stupid girlfriend of the time being behind Chyna totally, as well as the Rock. Booby Heenan coming down the ramp. And then there was Edge's spear on Jeff off a ladder.

Ahh memories.

10.

Great card, good solid wrestling all around, only one real crappy match (Women's Match), and a twist that came out of nowhere. the peak of North American wrestling.
