Since cuzziebrofullysickchoice seems to have abandoned the idea, someone needs to pick up the ball, and since the Guess Who? Thread in the TV/Movies forum has ended, I need something to fill the void. Everybody wins, yippee skip.
Now, it's not a secret that music tends to be a more subjective area than Wrestlers and/or Tag Teams, and with everyone on this board having pretty diverse tastes, I won't be surprised to find some fairly mediocre scores in later weeks. Nonetheless, try and remain as impartial as possible, and don't let things like genre-mud slinging take over.
Furthermore, I will make the competition as diverse as possible. Don't think that all the artists will be indie or emo or whatever. Give me some credit. :(
The rating system is pretty much identical to the one used in Spilchuk's RTTT threads. Rate the artist(s) on a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best). Simple enough.
Anyway, without further ado, I present to you our first artists up for rate-age: Britain's very own alt-rock pioneers, The Cure.

With album sales around the 30 million mark, four number one hits in the US (no love from the motherland, poor guys), and a whole lot of sexuality speculation coupled with crazy hair and gloomy lyrics, The Cure have inarguably left a permanent mark on the global alternative rockscape in a career spanning 30 years. They might not be the most proficient musicians in the land, and their singer might have a delightful tendency to sing just-off-key, but does their influence and legacy counteract this? You be the judge as you rate our very first candidates in... Rate the Musician/Band.
We need a catchier title.
