Why did the Road Warriors change their name to Legion of Doom when they came to WWE? I can't imagine someone else would hae copyrighted it...that usually wasn't even done back then.

Didn't they have a small-ish stable called the Legion of Doom before they came to the WWF?

And they still called them the Road Warriors (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk), they just renamed the team.

Yeah, something along those lines.

Before they were wrestling before WWF (Georgia Championship Wrestling I think it was), they started up a little stable with Paul Ellering as the manager, along with Jake Roberts and The Spoiler, and were called The Legion of Doom.

When the Road Warrirors signed with the WWF, I think the Legion of Doom named stuck so that is what they where known as.

The Forerunner to D&D was Chainmail.

(YEs, I actually knew that without having to look anything up).

Basically when they came to the WWF, Vinnie Mac told them they would need to change their name because obviously he needs to own everything he possibly can trademark wise. Hawk said immediately that they could be the Legion of Doom. So they were on TV before it all went through and it turned out that Animal and Hawk owned that name too.

Simply posting the name "Trinity" would have sufficed.

I also would have accepted Aeon, just to piss off MTV. :D

It's weird, I only remember them in the WWE as the Legion of Doom. I don't remember them being called Road Warriors until lately.
