View Full Version : Matt Striker, why has no one figured this out

Why isn't Matt Striker called Mr. Striker now. You can't call a teacher by his first name, I don't understand why we can blatantly call a "teacher" by his first name. I don't know, I think it would give his gimmick alot more solidarity.
Mr. Striker sounds much more hardcore than Matt Striker anyway.

I don't think anyone cares enough to figure it out... tbh.

He's nothing but a jobber in WWE so no one cares. He has a lot of natural charisma, talent, and good mic skills. Come on, he's not going to go anywhere.

I think they should take more time to make sure that their EMTs actually act like 'em. :shifty:

They already have Mr. Kennedy.

Shane's gotta be rolling over in his grave.

Remember when Shelton Benjamin's name was Mr. Benjamin for all of 5 minutes after he beat Triple H? That was awesome.

Because that would make too much sense.

Far too much sense. The WWE would collapse in on itself due to the buildup of stupidity from the last 5 years.

There are already TWO "Mr."s in WWE - Kennedy and McMahon. We don't want to confuse our viewers any more than that.

I'm on the fence about the Matt Striker character. On one hand, his comments like "smoking the pot" are awesome, but on the other, the guy is a fucking wrestler first. This is what pissed me off with John Cena back when he turned face on SmackDown!. Striker got fired as a teacher, then he became a wrestler. If he wants to cut promos where he "educates" his opponents, fine, but it seems to me like the WWE is actually trying to pass him off as a legit teacher to get the kiddies to boo him.

Matt Striker should be pissed off at the education system. He should talk about wasted potential, about using resources, about how they wouldn't let him say this as a teacher, but we cannot raise kids properly. Make him into a FORMER teacher. Not a current one.

People might get confused, ask Vince about it, and make Vince ask why he's still on with the company.

Maybe it's just me, but I personally find this notion to be nitpicky.

I don't think his role is going to be a hardcore wrestler so it doesn't matter anyway.

It's the same shit as the Eugene character. What makes Paul Burchill tolerable is the fact he doesn't claim to be a pirate, he just dresses up as one.

If the WWE has Matt Striker play his teacher character as kind of a bitter, "fuck you all" to the fans rather than "I still think I'm a teacher", it would be so much better, and he might rise to main event level. His character screams "Dean Douglas" at the moment.

When actually discussing it, they do put Striker over as a "former" teacher. He's just not bitter, like you would like. You bring up Burchill and point out how it's "different", but in reality, it's not. Hell, by that standard, Burchill should be disgruntled at his fellow pirates for not securing the "buried treasure" for him.

Striker uses it as a chance to be condescending to the crowds. That's more than enough in my book.

It doesn't matter what his "role" is, he's supposed to be a teacher, but WWE can't see how stupid its own product is sometimes. It's the exact opposite of what he should be called, but no on has realized it. Its so bad even we've stopped caring about somethings simply because we know it will never matter. I guess I was just hoping for some common sense. . .:(

No, he's a FORMER teacher. Just like I'm a former student, I don't go around calling my social studies teacher "Sir" or "Mr. Radican". I call him Joseph, Joe, or Mr. Rad. And it's my understanding that you call the teacher by whatever he writes on the blackboard and he's always written "Matt Striker" so there. :p

No, Striker puts himself over as a teacher. The commentators say he was fired in disgrace. By my standard, Burchill shouldn't make anyone walk the plank, or contract scurvey.

All I'm saying is that Striker could be a deep character. I love it when he condescends crowds, and I love it when he uses big words. I even love the get-up he wears, but there should be some irony to it. That's what the Dean Douglas character lacked.

Next week, I'd have Matt Striker come out and point out that he made some controversial comments next week. The system is trying to get him to conform again. He wrestles because he hates conforming, he hates not being able to punch that smart-ass student in the mouth, but now he's free from the confines of the system, he will kick the ass of Sandman as punishment. The Sandman will stand as a metaphor for all those who bite the hand that feeds them.

The ideal Matt Striker character is paranoid, hates those above him, and hates those below him. The only person he cares about is himself. This guy has so much promo ability and so much wrestling talent that it would be a shame if the WWE stuck him with a 2D character.

And after the initial explanation of it being his heritage, Burchill put himself over as if he were an actual pirate. The swords, the bombs, if I remember correctly, and all that other nonsense were worse than Striker having a chalkboard and a yardstick and insulting the fans' intelligence.

The irony is that Alienoid is taking a very literal approach to the concept.

Well, the irony is that he is waxing philosophical while taking a very literal approach to Striker's current role.
