WWE Own Rights To The Name 'Kurt Angle'

TNA have been hit with the news that, in his last contract negotiations, Kurt Angle signed over his name rights to WWE until 2012. This news comes as a surprise to many, as it is a common misconception that this is actually his real name. 'Kurt' Angle was actually Christened Burt Angle, but a misprint on his birth certificate led to people in the professional world calling him 'Kurt'.

Angle has issued a statement on this issue. 'Not a lot of people know that my real name is Burt. Just my family and a few close friends. I think the TNA fans will respect Burt Angle just as much as WWE fans respected Kurt. I'm still the same guy, ready to kick 6 sides of ass'.

This is not the first time TNA has been forced to change the names of former WWE talent. Christian Cage and Team 3D are two such examples. It is unknown at this time whether TNA will be calling Angle by his real name, or if they will use something else. Names that are being thrown around are thought to be K1 Angle, Killer Angle, Wrestling Machine, and Kip Angle.
