And he says that its is getting really hot. Have there been any other problems similar to this, or is this normal? I would imagine that it's the fan, I haven't been able to look at it yet. Anything information on this would be helpful.

i swear i can cook a egg on my 360 when i play it. No doubt it is kinda loud, and shoots off ALOT of heat, but i have played my 360 for 5-6 hours straight and it hasnt froze up or caused problems on me. Not to say it HASNT froze ever, but it doesnt seem like the amount of heat it causes has a connection.

So should he be concerned?

I got an external fan for it and it keeps it cool. I'd suggest he get one.

Game Time. You can probably find one at a Gamestop or a similar place. Maybe even Best Buy if he has one near him. Dunno about Wal-Mart but maybe.

So since that's out of the question, is there anything else that can be done?

Oh shit, Sorry Des I did'nt know that. Gonna take that shit off my console right now while it still works.

It's cool, it's not like I had the time to recommend it to him yet.

Dest, i wouldnt even worry about it. Ive had my 360 going on a year now, and the head has yet to do anything other than cause a little warmth on the game disc.

Well he was worried so I toldn him I would do some research, and while I was at it I figured asking you all couldn't hurt either.

Now I should be thanking you. Because if you didn't ask this my console prolly would become fried!

I got the Nyko cooler and have had no problems what so ever with. But I think thats because I dont spend 20 hours a day on the thing like some people.

Mine got really hot and I would turn it off for a good while. But it was in a well vented place. But it ended up freezing and the internal problem lights went on. Ended up shipping it out to get fixed. I intend on getting a cooler to possibly prevent this again.

But to answer your question Destor, grab a cooler, and have alot of open space around it.

Here's what I do...

Play it for an hour, turn it off for 15-20 minutes. Repeat.

Destor

I can't see him doing that...he's the kind of guy who would play for an hour, than go off and do something else for another hour then come back and play some more. Never shutting off the system in the process. I will recommend it though.

Well then hope he got an indestructible system then, because at that rate it'll break down in a matter of months.

If he's playing Dead Rising, he ESPECIALLY needs it, since that game causes every core to heat up.

Well lets hope it does'nt fuck up. I for one will not take any chances on a 400 dollar system.

Tell him to make sure he doesn't have the 360 on the carpet. Keep it on a flat surface so it can breathe properly.

I've replaced the fans and thermal paste in my 360 anyway, runs like a dream :D

Disturbed316

Yeah, if it's on the carpet, not only will the system fuck up but it would probably burn his house down.

KingofOldSchool

That's just foolish.

Might as well just cover the damn 360 with a thermal blanket on high.
