Looking at this pic, andres meant to be 7 foot 5 (billed height) then again vince is around 6 foot 4 or so, pretty obvious andre's standing on a box or something. Been looking around and seen a load of different heights listed, ranging from as small as 6 foot 6 or so. Did he start to stoop over more in his later years or was he ever over 7 feet in height?

No, actually he was Rey-Rey's hight. They just called him "the Giant" because Andre, the Mook was taken.

also, Q and A forum.

I'd say he was less than 7 foot. Hogan was only a few inches smaller.

I don't remember it particularly well because it dates back so far, but the images I've seen make it look like Hogan appears taller because of camera perspective, something I doubt was unintentional.

Andre The Giant was really 10 feet tall, and he ate people who didn't post questions in the q&a forum.

Andre the Giant? Did I ever tell you about the time Andrea was in a production of "The King & I"? On opening night, Andre chloroforms the entire cast and slowly eats them in front of the audience for two hours. The production got pretty good reviews.

He's actually standing on a box in that picture you see, that was a trick done for years in interviews he'd do.

In his later years he stood at a legit 6'10". In his prime of life he was probably a little over seven foot.

I can't remember how tall Hogan looked, but I believe if you get a picture of WM 3 they're standing face to face. Not Face to chest. Hogan's only what 6'6'' 6'7''?

Since a person's head is about 1/7 of their total height, and Hogan is 6'7" (79in), his head is about 11.25 in tall. Just estimating, there's about 5in height difference based on that. So Andre is about 7' even or so.

Good, cuz I fudged most of the numbers.

Interesting side note: Andre the Giant often got rides to school from Samuel Beckett, the world's most prominent writer of absurdist theater (Waiting for Godot and whatnot) 'tis true.

That has nothing to do with his height, but because I'm both a theater major and a wrestling fan, I like to bring it up when I can.

True story: Did I ever tell you about the time Andre taught his son how to drive? He did it by entering him in the Indy 500. The kid wrecked and died. Andre said it would've happened sometime.

I've heard Guiness had him listed as 6'11 1/2"

He was 6'10" in the Mania match, Hogan is in no way 6 foot 7.

WWE.com claims he is 6'7", I just went by them. According to IMDB, he's 6'5". 6'4" according to Wikipedia.

Who am I to believe? A company that hyperbolises its talent, a database that lets users add/edit data, or a user-editable encyclopedia that requires sources to be cited but still lets things through the cracks?

In that case, ask Hogan. He always tells the truth.

Andre the Giant was a 10 foot tall beast man who showered in vodka and fed his babies shrimp scampi. :shifty:

Andre the Giant once showed me a video of him making love to my wife, and it was the most beautiful thing I ever saw!

The other issue in that picture is posture. Hogan looks rather "puffed" up. Andre most certainly isn't. That's a couple inches right there, with someone his height.

I can "lose" about 2 inches by slouching at 6'5".

OWW suggests that he was 7'7 although it also suggests that Andre was 7'4.
However I'm willing to say that 7'7 for Gonzalez probably isn't too far off.

Snuka is 5'10" so judging by this pic I'd say Andre is about 6'10" to 7'

Chuck Jones

Gonzalex was a legit 7'6". He is currently in an Argentina care centre and confined to a wheelchair.

Khali is 7'3".

Big Show is 7' even.

Andre was at a minimum 6'10".

All of this is according to Wikipedia. I wouldn't doubt these heights.

Andre was about 6'11" legit. My mother was once standing next to him at a bank in downtown Montreal. She said he rested his elbows on the top of this plexi-glass...meanwhile she and everyone else were looking through it to the tellers.

Besides, Taker says he's a legit 6'8"...he's definitely not 6'10"..Most of the time they seem to add a few inches on the wrestler.

It makes sense cuz Taker wasnt that much taller than Hogan when they wrestled, it looked to be about 2 inches difference or so..and you'll notice that Hogan stands eye to eye with the rock who is listed at 6'5" in height.

Kane is actually about 6'7" legit. When he was isaac yankem, he was not close to 7 feet tall, nor was he taller than taker.

I think Nash though is actually legit close to 6'10".

At WM XIV when Kane and Taker are face to face Kane is visibly taller, I believe he wore lifts in his boots when he first started the Kane gimmick though

Just got done watching a show on the History channel about Andre and it said that at the time he was first scouted by the "WWF" he was 18 years old and already 6'10". But since he had been diagnosed with Giganta...he would continue to grow as long as he lived. He was 23 when diagnosed and also told he would live to be 40. He did live until he was almost 50 but the last couple years he was on crutches and could barely move. Anyway to finish answering your question....The show went on to say that at his tallest he was 7'7" and 560 lbs. Maybe check your listings for the History channel and see if it wil be back on anytime soon?
