So yeah, this Tuesday just gone was my first ever match. It was an 8 man battle royal with other trainees (well, I say other trainees, me, 4 other trainees and 3 guys already on the roster in different attire and masks), winner takes a spot on the roster.

What an experience though. Wrestling in front of a live crowd was fantastic and made me hungry for more (which, before the show, I'd have told you was not possible)

Here are some pics. I'm the guy in the black tights with red flashes (the one in most of the pics basically :D )

Cool pics. I find the first time to be the most memorable. It's cool when you're all nervous before, but once you get out there it's the best thing ever.

I call it 'Apocolyptic'. It's basically a modified fameasser. I didn't expect to be needing a finisher so early on though.

Well in the weeks leading up I thought I'd be shitting myself but on the day of the show I was absoloutly fine, no nerves, adrenaline, a bit of excitement but not much @ all until about 20 seconds before I went through the curtain. I was number 4 out and when Matty (#3) went out, it all kicked in @ the last moment, the adrenaline, the nerves etc but as soon as you go through the curtain, that's it.

Please, can you just say whether it was worked or not?

Sorry if I come off as a bit rude, I'm easily frustrated.

At least 4 of the guys in the ring didn't have boots? They shouldn't be allowed in the ring. You ring ropes are also dangerously loose. Is that a boxing ring?

Where the hell does this event take place? Who trained you?

CSL
11-24-2006, 11:31 PM
1. The ropes were loose because we were the last match on before the interval. They were tightened after that.

2. As for the boot situation. The guy in the yellow vest is wearing amateur wrestling boots. He can't wear his normal gear because then people would know he was the guy wrestling 3 matches earlier, just in different gear under a mask. Same goes for the guy with no boots on. He wrestled in the match BEFORE ours. Same goes for the guy being bundled over the ropes all in black only he IS wearing boots. The guy splashing in the corner made a choice to wear that basketball boot type footwear instead of wrestling boots (ala John Cena). Everybody else had boots so WTF?

Who did train you though?

CSL
11-25-2006, 12:37 AM
A combination of the 2 guys that run the company, some of the guys who wrestle for the company and Tracy Smothers.

That is fantastic. I will never forget my first match in front of a crowd. It's a rush that is never the same again, but at the same the excitment never goes away. Be sure to keep us updated on your career through the years. I would love to talk to you about your training as well; who, how well you feel prepared, etc.

TOVO Fact: Tovo's first wrestling match in front of people was with a worker by the name of James Patrick.

I wonder what it would be like doing it in an actual ring in front of a real crowd, me and my friend scripted a backyard (I know sorry) hardcore match for a small group of friends and it was fun, and gave a rush, I wish I had of started doing stuff like this :(

The One

Backyard wrestling gives not only legit wrestlers a bad name, but wrestling fans as a whole a bad name.

TOVO Fact: Fallen Angle has lost a lot of respect in Tovo's book.

Man I don't do the crazy shit, just try to do scripted matches like WWE and such, I wouldn't risk my neck to entertain a few friends.

I just like doing something on a small scale of something that will likely never happen.

Congrats CSL.

What Would Kevin Do?
11-25-2006, 12:39 PM
Congrats chief.

And Fallen Angel, if you want to go for it, go for it. I'm turning 23 in Jan, and I'm still toying with the idea, depending where I go to law school...

Plus, Corino's new school has a really nice training plan for those with busy lives.

I've read about that. The whole Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 idea interests me, but I have to wonder how good it would be to divide it up like that.

I've had a few training lessons with Jake Roberts. He sucks now, but there were some pretty grueling exercises.

The fact that while growing up, and dreaming of becoming a professional wrestler, and doing things to help with that. I.E cutting promos on cam, designing gimmicks, moves, and entrances, and testing out how well I can work/remember and sell by doing that stuff. I realized that maybe I was born to do it. I realized as I grew older that I may have found another calling. I like drawing and have fairly good art marks, and I realized I love gaming, not as much anymore, but I still do, and right now Im doing something to achieve that, Im taking a 3d game art course, and hopefully will get a good job doing something I love once out of school.

And after seeing the battered bodies, shattered lives, and pain both mental and physical that comes from being a professional wrestler, and I want to get married someday, and have kids, and there is no way in hell I am only going to spend 65-100 days a year with them, anyways what I mean is that the passion is still there, but too much is turning me away.
