This isn't an incredibly thought provoking topic, just a basic list thread of your favorite match types. Today I was thinking of all the different types of matches that have been introduced and how they seem to generate following on their own in a way. So I figured I'd make this thread. List your Top 5 or 10 fav match types. state reasons if you want

some match types: I quit, cage, ladder, strap, hell in a cell, elimination chamber, casket, boiler room brawl, buried alive, TLC, Last Man standing, Triple threat, fatal four way, scaffold, survivor series style, tag, lumberjack, last ride, inferno, table....and a bunch more.

mine:
1. TLC
2. ladder match
3. survivor series style
4. I quit match
5. last man standing

I honestly don't excited about match types anymore. 100% of my anticipation of a match is dependant on the participants. I suppose the last time I can remember thinking "Oh YESSSS!" over a gimmick match announced was probably either Cactus/HHH Hell in a Cell or a Ladder Match...

TLC/Ladder Matches are usually fun. I prefer it when you have a whole bunch of young and hungry guys vying for attention. Makes for some entertaining car-crash TV.

Hell in a Cell has gotten a bit stale recently, what with every HIAC either involving The Undertaker or Triple H, but I think the gimmick has some legs, and can make for genuinely exciting moments.

The Elimination Chamber is probably worth mentioning here, as is Ultimate-X. Just fun matches, even if the last two ECs have had some pretty shitty booking.

Submission Matches make for some pretty good fun, too.

Same here...maybe WWE announcing the battle royal as the most dangerous match ever had something to do with changing my opinion on that.

I'm surprised they haven't booked Undertaker vs HHH in a HIAC match yet.

Like someone said earlier for me it's all about the participants.

Take Armaggedon for example. A Tag Team ladder match between Kendrick/London and Regal/Taylor probably wouldn't have been great. But add The Hardys and MNM and you have yourself a fantastic match.

And whilst I'm on the subject...Don't get me wrong I'm all for gimmick matches but Armageddon seemed really overbooked.

Inferno Match
Last Ride Match
Fatal 4 Way Tag Team Ladder Match

Then add in the 30 Man Battle Royal on Raw.

It's like someone playing SmackDown! vs Raw 2007's GM mode.

Anyways, to answer the question (in no particular order):

Iron Man/Ultimate Submission
Hell in a Cell (although it needs a big moment to solidify it as a great match)
Ladder/TLC (there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between the two anymore)
Survivor Series (when done right)
Royal Rumble/Battle Royals

I like all elimination style: Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, Elimination Chamber, etc.

I love triple threats and fatal 4 ways.

Ladder matches if I know they'll be good. (If they involve Kane, I'll pass.)

World War 3.

I don't know why. Maybe it's just nostalgia. I still love watching the old World War 3 tapes.

A nice 1 on 1 mix it up is always great to see, same with tag.

Aside from that, I'm really into the TLCs, not for spot fests but I just find it amazing how wrestlers can use them in crazily innovative ways. That always fascinated me.
