I was watching last year's Unforgiven pay per veiw on DVD. The first match featured Randy Orton and Angle and as Orton was waiting for Angle's arrival,
JR was saying third generation superstar...former wwe champion.
When did Orton won the wwe title and against whom ?

Happy New Year to everyone and may this new year bring joy and prosperity to your life.

SummerSlam 2004 against Chris Benoit. He is the youngest to ever win the title.

Wasn't that the World Heavyweight Championship ?

JR rarely knows what the hell he's talking about anymore. He MEANT to say the World Heavyweight Title which he did win from Benoit at SummerSlam 2004. Orton has never won the WWE Title. It was screw up on JR's part.

Yes but JR fucks up all the time and that's what he meant, obviously.

Yeah, but by WWE standards, if you hold a world title in the WWE, you're considered a "WWE Champion".

Though I would imagine that the ECW title wouldn't fall under that, since it has a brand-specific name (versus the World Heavyweight Championship).

How fortunate that I don't operate under WWE standards. :p And obviously not the starter of this thread considering he thought it was WWE Title.

Just saying JR was correct by WWE standards.

Technically, no, he was never WWE champion.

By WWE standards, JR is always correct.

Except when he proclaims that the turnbuckles aren't made of chocolate.

Cause they are.

The problem is specifically that. WWE champion can mean both champion in WWE, and champion of the WWE title. They shouldn't name the titles in such a fashion, because it confuses even a lot of fans, to my experience.

Tecnically, as they're white chocolate, he's still right. :shifty:
