I'm gonna say Dwayne Wade

Tony Parker was selected as an All-Star and that is bullshit. Therefore, I pick him. Carmelo and A.I don't go, but he goes? are u kidding me?

I would say it is a bit of a stretch to say Wade is overrated, especially after the playoffs last year. In my opinion, the Heat (outside of Wade and Shaq) are a horribly designed team. Jason Williams and Antoine Walker do not fit their mold at all, and it is showing this season. Even with Shaq out, they should be doing better, but I don't blame Wade.

My fav answer was always Baron Davis and Steve Francis. I know Francis is no longer highly regarded, I haven't seen Davis play since he ended up GS so I dunno how he's playing or if he's still as highly regarded as he used to be.

Lebron isnt even the best player on his team. Ever heard of Larry Hughes?

BCWWF

I don't think Marbury is highly rated at all anymore. I can see the argument for Arenas, but he really has been dominant this season.

Kobe Bryant

Funky Fly
02-03-2007, 09:18 PM
Iverson or Bryant. King James to a lesser extent (fucking good, but not enough to makke his team a real contender).

SammyG
02-03-2007, 09:21 PM
Kobe? Gimme a break

Btw. Arenas just shot 9-29, including 3-15 from downtown, as his Wizards got their asses handed to em by the Lakers. Kobe with 39 :)

Funky Fly
02-03-2007, 09:40 PM
Kobe is good, but not the way he's made out be.

SammyG

Explain.

Funky Fly

The Lakers are a solid team. They have talent to be where they are without him. HOWEVER, they treat him like he is the only go to guy on the team (like AI back when he was on the Sixers). I realize that this is not the case as much as it was a couple years back, but they won't die without him.

I think when 1 guy is putting out 35+ points on average, the team might need readjustment. Yeah, I realize more and more guys are doing that these days, but it's because more and more teams are "1 superstar and the other guys" and not set up more like Phoenix, San Antonio or Detroit, where the whole team has a bunch of guys with superstar potential, but less selfishness.

Maybe it's a personal thing.

Funky Fly
02-03-2007, 10:09 PM
Also, I believe that is why USA did so badly at the last summer Olympics. Too many guys used to being the star of the team. It's not like 2004's team was any worse talent-wise that 1992's dream team. There is jus less teamwork and that bother's me.

SammyG
02-03-2007, 10:11 PM
Luke Walton is developing, Lamar is good, I don't know about the Lakers being fine without Kobe though. Actually I completely disagree with that statement. Without Kobe the Lakers would be extremely lucky to make the playoffs.

Funky Fly
02-03-2007, 10:15 PM
If Kode broke his leg in 12 places and they had to play without him, I'd agree that initially they'd be kinda crap because they depend on him so much. But between now and the playoffs, I think they could get enough guys (Odom, Parker and Walton especially) to step up, sink more baskets and create more plays.

They could make the playoffs without him.

SammyG
02-03-2007, 10:25 PM
Dunno bout that. Kobe is the person they go to when everything goes to shit. Kobe steps up in the 4th. People double team Kobe, so that gets other guys open, and they hit the open shot. Kobe is the veteran leader of this young ballclub, they'd be lost in the water without him. The only reason why you might have a point, is because the Lakers have a great head coach.

BCWWF

Lakers would not be in the playoffs with:

PG: Smush Parker
SG: Insert Random
SF: Luke Walton
PF: Lamar Odom
C: Kwame Brown

Kobe is overrated but is still MVP by a country mile for the Lakers. As said no way they would be where they are without him. He is also no where near the most overrated.

I don't really understand how Kobe is overrated. He won three championships, but apparently isn't a winning player without Shaq, but now he has changed his game and is on a legitimate NBA contender right now. He isn't MJ, but based on talent alone, he is easily top five, and based on importance to his team, I would agian say he is top five.

Talent (in no order)
Kobe, LeBron, Garnett, Marion, Kidd

Importance (in no order, only on contending teams)
Duncan, Nash, Kobe, Arenas, Wade, LeBron

I thought of that in 10 seconds, so if I am missing somebody blatant tell me. Just from looking at it though, it seems all right.

BCWWF

Five players on contending teams who get too much credit and/or players who are considered to be great when they are only good:
Jermaine O'Neal (good, but given too much credit - will never lead his team to a championship), Kevin Garnett (is the leagues best second option), Lamar Odom (given way too much credit), Allen Iverson (had one good break, but will never accomplish anything more because for all of his talent, he shoots too much), the other names I would consider are Baron Davis (too injury prone, can't seem to get Golden State over), Yao Ming (good, but not the best center in the league, in my opinion), and everybody on the heat except Shaq and Wade (they could have put a much stronger cast around this team and it would actually be great, Wade and Shaq alone were good enough to win it last year)

Five players who are held back by bad teams but could be great players on good teams/who are not given the credit they deserve.
Shane Battier (would be a consistant shut down guy for any contender, is a winning player), Emeka Okafor (does everything you want from a center, scores a decent amount, great rebound and blocker), Jason Terry (kind of a stretch, but a consistantly solid performer for one of the best teams in the league), Mike Miller (quietly dominating this season in many ways, always a consistant player), Sam Cassell (he is too old now, but look at what he did for the Timberwolves in 2003 and the Clippers last year.)

We're talking NBA bro, what's with the baseball . Well, 6 rings are good enough if you only have Pippen as your legit other star. The other Bulls just looked good becuase of the Jordan rub. Longley, Paxson, Kerr, Randy Brown, Harper, Kukoc, BJ Armstrong? Really, where were they when Jordan left?

How good MJ is? He denied Malone, Stockton, Miller, Barkley, Ewing etc. championship rings.
