Yeah my 360 has had it for the second time, I told my mum and asked her to go get a new one from the shop, she said no and said she's getting a refund. My first one broke 2 months ago, second one has been going for about 2 weeks, but it went last night.
So if I don't get a 360 back I guess i'm going ps3...
So how many of you have had your 360's broke?

Haven't had any problems with mine yet luckily. My other consoles have had their share of problems though. My original PS2 had the Disc Read Error thing, both my Xboxes had screwed up disc drives that wouldn't stay closed..

What happened to them? Mine still works like a charm and it better stay that way.

First one got red lights, this one got this weird click noise and none of my disks were readable...
Getting a new one now anyway so...

I got mine a couple months after launch and it was fine. About 9-10 months later I got the red ring of doom and had to send it back. Luckilly, I had the warranty. A few days later, came back like new. Haven't played it since.

I was the first one in line when they were released and mine still works beautifully.

Sorry to hear that. I've had my Wii since day 1 and have had no problems with it.

I kind of want a 360, but it seems like there are still a few things they need to work out.

The Xbox 360's are being manufactured by a new company now (not the drives, just assembly, PCB etc) So you'd hope quality control goes up. The issue with the 360 is that the solder used is crap, as is the cooling on the 360, This causes the graphics chip to get too hot and lift off the motherboard, pretty fucked up really.

Yeah, If you are gonna get 1, I'd get an elite because they'd probs have less problems, and I'm getting a Wii if I do well in my GCSE's

This is why I never buy a game system when first comes out, I wait till like 2yrs or so till they get rid all the bugs out, I think I got ps2 a little to early and it just stopped working, everytime I try to play a game it just wont play, so by christmas 2005 I myself an xbox.

Yeah, i've sent mine to x-box for "repair" 2 times now. Once for the screen blacking out, the second because it decided it was going to scratch my games. 3rd x-box now and this one is already not reading discs, I was never really going to go for ps3, but i'm changing my mind rapidly!!

Let's be fair: The PS3's having troubles too.

And whoever said their Wii's fine, mine is a disc killer. I'm getting it shipped in soon.

As for the Elites, I keep reading they're not even going to be using the new chips for them. So they might be better in terms of solder on the processer, but they're otherwise going to be inferior to the Premiums currently being released.

How's that for business logic?

really? Damn dude, in all honesty i couldnt care less when they said theyd have HDMI and a bigger HDD, i was just jealous because people would be getting a 360 with quieter fans and the new chip, but if they arent getting those...then what in the fuck is the point?

Kane Knight
04-14-2007, 06:54 PM
The point? To sell you on bigger space and "better" pictures.

Now, I don't know 100%, so it might be wrong, but it would seem that they're not really making the Elite all it could be.

My brothers are gonna be getting a 360 in a little bit. I'd better let them know to hold off for a while, then.

My 360 just died three nights ago, and I got it last August, along with Dead Rising.

Red Ring of Death, naturally. I thought I was going to have to cause a fuss, but so far, Xbox customer service has been really good. Apparently the console is still under warranty, so I'm sending it back to them, and getting another one.

What the hell happened this generation? Consoles are dying all over the place.

From what I understand, HDMI is only greater than component in the sense that it's mainly for 1080p. So unless you have a newer tv that supports it, it's nothing worth buying over the premium.

Could be wrong though.

To be honest sending it back etc is all more than taken care of by Microsoft, they send UPS to pick it up - they "fix" it and send it back for free. My first 360, when i sent that back, I got a replacement console - refurbished one I imagine, then that went tits up. When I sent that back, the same console came back with a report on what they did to it (something to do with the disc drive)

Shame therefore that immediatly after I switched it on I got a hardware failure lol. I messed about with the wires and it worked... Then it started telling me to put my games into an xbox 360, obviously. *weep*

if not then they will charge you

How much is $180 in £?

Well, considering games, music, and (far as I know) computer software don't cost a proportionate amount, simply shifting the cost over doesn't help you much.

Xero

It's roughly 100 pounds.

Kane Knight

So Microsoft apparently said right in one of their press releases the Elite will not have the new, cooler chips.

Oh, and based on estimates, the HDD will cost around 120 pounds. Anyone saying that the pound is about 2 bucks US and that the numbers don't add up is correct, but the Brits, like many other countries, pay proportionately more for their games and music.
