View Full Version : Did anybody else get really sad when they saw Bobby Heenan on Raw?

I know I did. He looked/sounded even worse than he did on the Ultimate Warrior DVD (which was the last time I had seen him previous). It was kind of like a kick in the junk to my childhood memories. Lou Albano, too.

I know he used to be really fat, but yeah. He has cancer right?

<font color=white>Whilst I was watching it I was just thinking how great it would be if he was in any kind of shape to do his old job/s. Man's a fucking legend.</font>

Sad, but not as sad as seeing Gorilla Monsoon at WM 15. He could barely stand

I dunno, I didn't even recognize him at first. I thought he was just some guy and they had a production mix up leading into his segment. But jesus, yeh, he looked horrible. It's a toss up between him and Monsoon. I would bet you Heenan can't hardly stand either.

He even had that old man denture whistle when he pronounced the letter 's'. You know what I'm talking about.

It's sad that he was one of the greatest talkers in pro wrestling history, and most of that is taken away from him by cancer. He can still talk, but will never commentate or anything like that again :(

It was nice to see the ONLY person in wrestling to still use the classic term "foreign object" instead of <insert weapon name here>.

For that, he deserves a knighthood. Oh yeah, he can't. Well, whatever ever the US has as an equivelent. He's a legend, and heck, I thank him for the memories.

I wasn't suprised at how Booby looked, he does make appearences now and then on wwe (dvd's mainly) but his voice to me sounds even worse. :(

Bobby and Gorilla imo were the best commentary duo in the business, they gelled so well together with Gorilla playing the straight man to perfection. Jr and lawler have a similar style to some extent but nothing comes close to Heenan and Gorilla.

One of the lines i'll always remember was at rumble 91 i believe, something like:

Gorilla: Would you look at this, flair dishing out low blows!

Heenan: Id do that to my grandmother if i had to!

Heenan and Gorilla were a great team. Probably the greatest of all time.

I rally hope Heenan gets a sweet WWE bio dvd. he deserves it.

Had this on DVD. Classic!

Props to him for just being here still and still having the great sense of humor he's always had. It's true that he's hardly recognizable, and sad to see that he can't do what he's so good at, but he's a quality guy, and thank God he's still here.

Tremendous manager and broadcaster, and a great personality.

Captain Lou still looked good.

Much lighter, but nearly the same.

I was thinking about making a topic about this. Seriously, I nearly cried. He's unrecognizable to the man he was.

I thought Capt. Lou was even more incoherent than Snuka and Shiek - did he even mention Vince in his "tribute" or was it all just self-promotion?

Captain Lou has ALWAYS been more incoherent than those guys. Just because you can understand his individual words more doesn't mean he makes any more sense.

I love Heenan, glad I didn't see him on Raw or I would have been sad. I was a little shocked when I saw him on the Warrior DVD...bad shape. :nono:

He's always been way better than the rest of the ham N' eggers. There may not have been a better duo IMO than him and Mr. Perfect.

That's the only pic that I can find of him, but he looked thinner than that now.

Monsoon: "I think you need to check your oculus!"

Heenan: "There's nothing wrong with my feet!"

Monsoon: "No, I'm talking about your eyes!"

It saddens me too to see him like this - he truly is a legend of the wrestling world. He provided commentary for the Legends of Wrestling 3 game along with Larry Zbysko and Tony Schiavone and his voice was hardly recognisable. Its such a shame.

There are many Brain one-liners that crack me up even today.

Does DQ stand for Dairy Queen? - I think this was on the last Nitro before the InVasion angle started, correct me if I'm wrong

By the time the Iron Shiek gets to the ring it'll be WrestleMania XXXVIII - commentating on the Gimmick Battle Royal at WrestleMania XVII

A friend in need is a pest - I can't for the life of me remember when he said this

What the hell?! Use the bell! - Bret Hart vs Roddy Piper at WrestleMania VIII

Any others that spring to mind?
