View Full Version : No Mercy main event update

Vince McMahon announced on ECW On Sci-Fi that a new WWE Champion will be crowned at the No Mercy PPV now that John Cena has been stripped of the WWE Title due to his injury.

Options for the No Mercy match include Randy Orton vs. Triple H, Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. Umaga, Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy, and Randy Orton vs. The Undertaker.

They all sound shit to me. I actually predicted that the WWE would consider moving The Undertaker to RAW, seeing as he isn't officially booked yet. SmackDown! led me to believe that he would be tied up, however, and I think they should go with those plans.

Fuck, I'd rather they just did a Battle Royal.

Val Venis is clearly the People's Choice.

Val Venis is clearly the People's Choice.

Obviously. Too bad the WWE will have Val Venis come out at the PPV, Vince chuckle and go "Yeah, right," and Triple H will Pedigree him (LONE WOLF!) and get the title shot and bore the fuck out everyone but marks and Kliq supporters.

I don't want Cena as champ, but currently he's the only guy who can hold the belt. If HBK didn't get injured I'd throw the belt on him. I wouldn't now though (assuming he's back real soon).

I really can't think of anyone to hold the belt.

Mr. Nerfect
10-03-2007, 01:52 AM
It'll be Triple H, and the WWE's ratings won't go up, and he will look around and go "Gosh, Vince, maybe I should squash some lower-card guys again?"

The WWE should honestly just show they pay attention to the fans, and go with The Big Valbowski as WWE Champ. *Cue Xero's photoshopped picture of Val Venis walking down the isle with the WWE Championship at WrestleMania*

LOL, Randy Orton vs The Undertaker?????

But who, then, will beat Batista to ensure he has another 17 months of chasing the title in each PPV?

I wouldn't mind seeing Jeff Hardy face Orton for the title at NM. Not win it, mind you, but wrestle for it. He's been mad over lately.

Has to be Hardy. Have him drop the title to Shelton earlier in the night thanks to something illegal and have him push Orton to the edge before losing. It would start off a nice feud, culminating in a ladder match at Survivor Series in which Hardy wins for a small reign.

You know what, I’m digging the Hardy idea, I really am, he is REALLY REALLY over. It would be a total shock, like when Nitro won the ECW belt, I like that.

However the best possible solution IMO is:

Orton in the ring on the mic:

‘Ok I still don’t know who my opponent tonight is, so just take a deep breath, I’m sure your nervous, and come and get ready to face your destiny’

Lights go out

Blue numbers appear on the tron

All the jumbled up letters start to spell out a word

JERICHO

Lights on, Y2J stood on the apron, in his Jesus stance

Smarks around the world pass out

When we come to, Orton has already won :(

I know that’s not going to happen, but man it would be fucking cool.

Out of all the other options I opt for Hardy though

I've forgotten amongst all the theories. Does that mean He could return on Sunday?

I could see it being Triple H, but it would be funny to see if Val Venis or even Jeff Hardy get it.

I don't want to see Jeff Hardy win the WWE Championship yet. He's improved a lot, and he's over, and it would be a nice throwback to have the Intercontinental Champion the default #2 contender, but there is something wrong about Jeff Hardy becoming a World Champion before Matt Hardy, in my opinion.

Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho looks and sounds sweet. The videos have been teasing a Jericho return at No Mercy, and they might as well pull the trigger and have him become the new WWE Champion. Have him hold the belt through WrestleMania, and then have John Cena return and want the belt back. There's also the tension between them from when Jericho forced Cena out. Bring Johnny back as a ruthless heel, gone a little whack from his time on the shelf. There is money in that.

The unlikely option is to fucking listen the poll and have Val Venis put in the main event with Randy Orton. People may not buy it, but you could have Stone Cold Steve Austin approach Val backstage, and remind him that he was rehired by Austin as Val Venis because Austin knew he was capable of this, blah blah. Also during the show, Mr. Kennedy wants Randy Orton to thank him for softening up John Cena for him. Orton just laughs in Mr. Kennedy's face, and says that it is he who deserves the credit for Cena being out, not Kennedy. Randy Orton leaves, and Mr. Kennedy tightens his jaw a little bit. Kennedy can then cost Randy Orton the match, setting up The Money Shot by Venis. Fuck, that would be greatness. As for Chris Jericho? I think they should just run another teaser to close the show, cutting into Val Venis' title win, which upsets him.

Hey, Val hasn't lost to Santino yet. :p

I'm honestly just as not as big a Jeff Hardy fan as Matt Hardy. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Jeff win the WWE Title some day, but I'd much rather Matt Hardy get there first. I suppose once Jeff is there, though, it should be easier for Matt, but still. :-\

I also just prefer Val Venis to Jeff Hardy.

Listen to a rigged poll Alienoid?

Not very fair on other performers if that's the case.

What val can maybe expect out of this is a reasonable mid card push. But the guy is in Gimmick hell. They tried and tried to shed the towel/porn star thing, but they just couldn't.

It's a shame, but the guy just has zero charisma and no 'thing' like being 7 feet tall to bypass that.

I can’t explain why I like Jeff, I honestly don’t know, his ring work can be sloppy, his mic work is near non-existent. Yet I still find myself compelled to watch him, he’s got that ‘IT’ factor, where you know that no matter who he’s wrestling there’s always a chance he’s going to win because he will do whatever it takes.

Whoever ends up in the rnig with Randy, chances are they are going to lose as Orton is the only guy they have that’s been pushed anywhere near the title, so the whole ‘who is Orton going to face’ is a moot point, as it’s more Orton’s going to win, but against who.

It’s a really good idea not to announce the opponent yet, it gives people a reason to buy the PPV, with the SAVE_US, a packed card and now a guaranteed new raw champ after over a year, this is looking to be on the biggest ‘none big 4’ PPV’s in some time

Val is often overrated in his charisma by some people (and this is coming from me), but he's certainly got more than "zero charisma." The guy is still somewhat over despite being a jobber for so long. In the past four years, Funaki has gotten a bigger push than Val Venis. The guy still manages to get the crowd applauding when he does pick up a win, however.

Being stuck with the gimmick is more the WWE's choice than them not actually being able to remove him from it. The WWE have actually been fairly relaxed with the gimmick recently. The guy used to be a porn star, and until RAW it felt like he was a former porn star. He'd just been kind of a directionless babyface on Heat.

As far as the poll goes, we helped out a lot, but we're not powerful enough to really get Val Venis 386000 votes are we? Unless someone voted a lot.

Since he has returned, I have been a lot more interested in Jeff. I don't think he's fantastic, as I've said, but he's been a lot more substancial since re-signing with the WWE. I'd like to see him move up to upper mid-carder status for sure.

I am intrigued by the prospect of Randy Orton's opponent being a mystery, but I am not sure if I want to order in case I am disappointed. It could be a Chris Jericho, Val Venis or even a Jeff Hardy, which I would be fine with. It's something different. Of course, it could also be a Triple H. I do not want to support that.

That's true. It's always in the back of my mind when I say I'm sick of Triple H being a World Champion. But it's true, I am still sick of it. Triple H hasn't been WWE Champion since 2002, which is about five years, but it feels like just yesterday to me.

I think I'd be OK with Triple H winning the WWE Championship in 2008, after WrestleMania. I'd also be OK with him swapping brands and winning the belt somewhere else, but that won't happen.

I dunno, it's been a while, but I'm still not keen on Triple H winning the belt again.

If they really want to shake things up and generate a huge buzz and renewed interest, this would be the way to go. Have some sort or #1 contendership challenge early in the show, the winner of which will face Orton in the main event. Put over Jeff OR Matt Hardy, Val Venis (because he's the people's champ now :D ), somebody totally off the wall and have them pick up the win over Orton.

I wouldn't keep the belt on them past the next PPV, have Orton take it then, but it would definately spike intrests in the next few weeks of TV even if only for a "WTF?" effect.

WWE have so many options for this, but at the same time they've not invested enough time building on the mid card stars of tomorrow. Well guess what WWE, tomorrow will come on Sunday, they are really backed into a corner on this one. I see either Trips or Orton as the only credible candidates.

What I'd fucking love is if Val Venis got put in the match because he's the "People's Champion" (regardless of whether or not he is, the WWE should treat him as such, and it at least shows that there are consequences for the WWE's opinion polls). William Regal collects the WWE Title belt off John Cena at the show, then spits on it and chucks it aside, saying he has made a new WWE Title belt, because John Cena has desecrated everything Regal holds sacred. Dave Taylor comes out (he's an ally of Regal's so him doing some leg work for RAW's General Manager is not hard to believe), with the belt covered, and hands it over to Regal, and the General Manager reveals it to the world. Randy Orton or Val Venis will be presented with this belt tonight.

In the back, Randy Orton encounters Mr. Kennedy, who tells Orton that he is upset that Randy has been taking sole credit for injuring Cena. Orton basically laughs in Mr. Kennedy's face. During the match, Kennedy does the introductions for each man, and then joins Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler on commentary. The referee is knocked down, and Randy Orton is looking to finish Val off with a superplex. Mr. Kennedy slides into the ring with a steel chair, however, and cracks Orton in the back. Randy falls to the canvas, and Val capitalises with The Money Shot. The referee comes to...1...2...3! Val Venis is the new WWE Champion. William Regal then presents Val Venis with the new WWE Title belt to close the show.

The next night on RAW, Val cuts a promo and thanks the fans for their support, and how it is a miracle, yadda yadda. Mr. Kennedy comes out and demands a shot, because Val doesn't owe the fans anything; he owes Mr. Kennedy everything. There's your first feud. Randy Orton can get involved, and eventually they let bygones be bygones, and team up to try and injure Val, but Chris Jericho makes the save. There you have your main event scene: Chris Jericho and Val Venis as the (unlikely) babyfaces, and Randy Orton and Mr. Kennedy as the heels. Oh, and Triple H is somewhere.

Eventually turn Val Venis heel when he begins to doubt his skills, and feels inadequate next to Chris Jericho. Val Venis vs. Chris Jericho for the WWE Title...I guarantee you it will be good.
