View Full Version : Is Kurt losing weight again?

I've not seen TNA for a few weeks again. Now, he's not quite stretch Armstrong anymore, but his arms seem a lot tinier than they were even a coupel months ago. Angle's always been a physical specimen, so it's hard to really say what's unhealthy on him. But seriously, he looks like he's tanking again to me. Is it just my imagination?

No I saw the main event of Impact and he wasn't much bigger than Homicide.

Yeah, I think he's just easing up on all the steroids or something so that his arms do not appear to be huge gorilla appendages and his head doesn't look too big for his body.

He's probably losing weight so he can fight in MMA. He is supposed to be close to a deal with the IFL. I would imagine he's trimming down to fit easily into the heavyweight division.

^ Umm...Have you not heard any of his interviews for, oh, I dunno, THE PAST YEAR OR SO where he has said he wants to do MMA? OR all the reports (including STRAIGHT FROM THE MOUTH OF ANGLE HIMSELF) that he was close to signing a deal with the IFL?

From FoxSports.com:

Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com says TNA World Champion Kurt Angle was at an IFL event last week at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL.

“God willing, the IFL and myself can make a deal,” Kurt Angle said in an interview with Marvez. “The best fit for me right now as a pro wrestler who [works] about 120 times a year is the IFL.”

Angle did note he would need permission from TNA President Dixie Carter to ink a deal with IFL and that he would need at least a year to train before he made his MMA debut.

“The IFL is giving me an opportunity to get my feet wet and train without affecting my job with TNA whatsoever. [The IFL] said they would be second priority and make sure TNA is happy all the time and they’ll take me when they can get me.”

We get iMPACT! delayed over here, so I'll be keeping me peepers out for this.

I really wish we'd get it at the same time. it's just shit not being able to join in what little TNA talk is here. Good or bad. I feel like I'm in Zanzibar sometimes.

Yes. The past year he's been saying it. And he's still not in training yet. He's not going to do MMA.

Taking Angle at his word as the bastian of truth and source of legitimacy is preposterous, given this entire scenario occured when he was fired, which he tries to spin as him quitting every chance he gets.

Umm, these talks with the IFL were very recent, not when he was fired from WWE. Hence, all the references to working out the schedule with TNA that he mentions.

The fact that he was AT THE GODDAMN EVENT talking about wanting to work out a contract shows that he is at the VERY LEAST interested in doing MMA. You might be able to say it's just his typical BS when he talks about fighting Brock Lesnar in the UFC when there really isn't any reports to back that up. But he was at the IFL show and talking with management and reporters.

I didn't say OMGZ ANGLE IS IN DA IFL!!!11!!!1!!! But it sure as hell looks like he is trying to get into MMA, with the IFL being the launch point.

I'm looking forward to seeing Kurt in MMA just for the pics of Kurt getting his ass handed to him with the word "pwnd!"

I seriously doubt we'll see Angle "pwned."

Not to mention the evidence on behalf of IFL, who have expressed interest in hammering out a deal.

You can believe one party is lying, but both parties lying serves little to no benefit.

I get the IFL here on a local station, and I gotta say, Kurt will not be getting "pwnd." Scouts honor.

Of course IFL is interested, when WWE fired him, everybody wanted him. UFC, Bodog, every MMA group wanted him. If he wanted to do MMA he'd have taken it and not signed a deal with TNA. He's been talking about doing MMA since he was done with WWE, and spoke with everyone. It means nothing. Kurt Angle is smart enough to realise that his name mentioned in MMA circles is greater publicity to him. Him being at IFL does account for anything. The nature of what he said in the interviews, saying he thought with a year of training he'd be ready is as close to a blindingly obvious out as you can get without saying "yeh, I really have no intention of doing anything, but keep saying my name please".

Of course IFL is interested, when WWE fired him, everybody wanted him. UFC...

STOP.

For the record the UFC was not at all interested in Kurt Angle. Kurt Angle wanted to fight Chuck Liddell (or at least he mouthed off about it alot) and Kurt Angle wanted to fight in the UFC. Dana White said, repeatedly, that it would take alot for him to sign Kurt Angle because he was completely unproven in MMA. White said that he would have to see Kurt fight, and fight well, at least a handful of times before he would consider bringing him in to UFC.

Because of course MMA requires no training.

You must be right. All this "training" bullshit is just excuses for Kurt to keep getting his name on air on IFL programming. Because keeping his name mentioned on IFL programming for no reason is going to work wonders for his wrestling career.

Angle has too much to lose by entering MMA. The washed-up, broken-down, drug-addled Angle would lose whatever hard-man rep he has left when he inevitably gets mauled.

How about the fact it is a year later and he's still no closer to doing it.

Fuck off.

Everybody also originally thought Lesnar was going to get his ass handed to him in MMA and he is currently the UFC Heavyweight Champion. I don't think Angle will be a slouch in MMA.

Randy Orton

look at him when he debuted, and now

Seriously, looks tiny to when he started IMO

Everybody also originally thought Lesnar was going to get his ass handed to him in MMA.

*ahem*

Anyway, Lesnar was in top form and being trained by the best. Angle is a drug addict or former addict who has had several surgeries just to be able to get back in the ring. I'd be a lot more skeptical about Angle than Lesnar.

Besides, half the people who mocked Cocksword were asshurt fanboys BAWWWWWWWWWing in the same way people BAWWWWWWed when the Rock "sold out."

For a second I thought that read "Everybody originally thought Luger was going to get his ass handed to him in MMA". I'd pay money to see that.

Luger using those awful punches with the "OH" sound effect he always does, against Couture or Lesnar.

Kurt is 5'10''. And probably only a shade of 200lbs right now. I would assume he would aim for 185 if he was to fight, but 205 tops for a guy his size.

On top of all his operations, he was 40 yesterday. I don't see it ever happening.

Mercury Bullet
12-10-2008, 04:37 PM
Jesus, this was dug up a year later?

For the record it looks like I was clearly wrong, in the meantime the IFL has went under and Angle isn't doing a damn thing related to MMA. Doesn't change the fact that they were in talks, the IFL wanted Angle and Angle (said) he wanted a deal with the IFL. So the evidence was there to support this actually happening and I'm sure plans were in the works, but it didn't work out in the end.

I would write off Angle ever doing MMA though. I see him venturing into it...unsuccessfully however. He's not in the condition to repeat the success that Lesnar has had.

I could honestly see him trying. I could even honestly see a promotion taking interest in him. The one thing I can't see is success, especially given his age and injuries.

Mercury Bullet

He'd be a draw, which is what matters most, even if he comes out and just gets throttled he'd make somebody money for a few fights before people stopped caring.

I don't think someone with the comptetative pedigree of Angle should aspire to being Kurt Slice, for money he doesn't really need.

I don't think someone with the comptetative pedigree of Angle should aspire to being Kurt Slice, for money he doesn't really need.

In Kurt's case, he may actually believe he can make something of himself. I say may, and I'm emphasising it a second time, in case anyone wants to misinterpret me (Not aimed at you, but these days if I don't qualify every word, someone will bitch).

I doubt he intends to become "Kurt Slice," but he could have interest regardless.

Or he COULD be talking shit.
