I can't wait to watch this one. I really like the match listing, but I think they added a few that shouldn't be there.

Umaga/Khali/Cena? DX/Rednecks? Everything else though looks awesome (well, besides the K-Fed thing, but I can understand why it's on).

EDIT: I guess they aren't putting Angle on there either. Bummer. Also, I think they should replace the DX/Rednecks match with the No Way Out rematch between Taker/Batista vs. HBK/Cena from the RAW before Mania 23. I'm sure they are missing a lot of good stuff, but from reading it now, I'm really looking forward to it, since I haven't seen this stuff in years.

HBK/Owen should have made it too. Maybe I'm getting a little too picky.

lol, Damien Demento. And are they really going to have a 4 year gap on this thing?

Far too many 2003+ matches. There are tons of great WWF matches from 1995-2002 that should have been included.

Match listing seems really nice. Obviously, there are some better matches to put on, but what they have is, for the most part, good.

Agreed with the above post. This decade is shit in comparison to the last, but also, Cena vs Federline? Please, give me a break.[/mean gene]

I can't understand why they'd just jump from 1993-1997?

I want older matches....that list jumps from 93 to 97.....

What...were all the wrestlers on strike or something? Im sure their had to of been good matches between those times...I dont want to see the same stuff I have on tape or have seen in past favorite match things.

I say the reason the jump from 93 to 97 was RAW was a one hr show mostly with segments and squash matches with only one ME and usually the ME was not a great match. There are some exceptions though like Bret/Kid WWF Title in July 94 (although I believe the reason this is not on there is Bret wants to put this match in his follow-up DVD of just matches)

Theres several more matches noticeably absent

HBK/Janetty I-C Title July 93 (this match was voted PWIs match of the year in 93)
Bret/Kid WWF Title July 94
Bulldog/Owen European Title Match March 97
Team USA vs Hart Foundation Flag Match Summer 97
Austin/Rock/Vince vs Taker/HHH/Shane April/May 99 (I believe this was Raws highest ever rating for a ME match)
Jericho/HBK rematch in 03
Edge/Orton April 07

I can't understand why they'd just jump from 1993-1997?

Because Raw was atrocious. Top stars would face jobbers and nothing would happen. It was all about the PPVS.

In late 96-97 this all changed, because of what Nitro started doing and the wrestling tv show became eventful instead of killing time between PPVs and getting buy on squash matches and lame promos.

In many ways, now years after the monday night wars ended it has gone back to this forumla, just not completely because it'd be off the air if it was as bad as it was in the mid 90s.

I will get this DVD for the Rock Foley match where Foley wins the title alone

Jeritron
12-06-2007, 01:26 AM
Does it have a lot of segments and promos in addition to these matches?

Raw is a lot different from traditional PPV or house style wrestling shows, and segments and promos have been just as much a part of it as actual wrestling and have produced as many, if not MORE, memorable moments over the years

The match listing is terrible. Who sits down and plans all this out?

Jeritron
12-06-2007, 03:52 AM
Most of what's on there deserves to be there. There are a few I don't think deserve to be, but they're also trying to make it more comprehensive I suppose and don't want to flat out admit that Raw isn't what it used to be. That's why theres a lot of current shit, but the current shit that's on there is pretty good.

I think theres some big glaring ommissions though. And theres some stuff on there that's all over other dvds. That TLC 4 match is amazing, probably the best Raw match of all time. But didn't Edge and Christian and the Hardys have an amazing Raw ladder match that hasn't made it to dvd yet?

Jeritron

I'll enjoy the shit out of this dvd. Lets be fair, it's not perfect but nobody can ever be completely happy with this stuff.
I have favorites that I'd like there, and others would rather have different ones in their place. And some of these would be being brought up as deserving of a place if they weren't there.
So oh well, I'm very interested in most of it

Are you kidding me?

Umaga/Khali/Cena?
Cena/Federline?
DX vs Cade/Murdoch?
Bishoff/Cena?
Cena/Shawn vs RKO?
Kane/HHH?

Are these matches that you think of when it comes to RAW or even fucking wrestling in general? The match listing is shit. There is 100 other matches that can go on a RAW DVD that are 100 X better then this crap. Even forget about matches, how about showing full segmets? DX making fun of the Nation ... Rock/Foley This Is Your Life ... Goldust/Booker ... ECW returns ... WCW ... Vince/Austin ... Hogan/Rock... COME ON. This DVD is crap.

I am not a complainer in the least but they could of made this DVD a lot better.

Some wrestlers have chosen the material of matches on the DVD like Brets. Piper said in an interview that he declined to pick his favorite matches so the WWE producers chose the material on his DVD. Others like Foleys were a joint effort where he picked some of the matches. I heard Austins set coming out in Feb is one that he picked out the matches.

Did the Hardys/E&C steel cage match ever make it to a dvd? Because that would have been a pretty good choice.

PRODUCER: "What about Owen vs. Bulldog for the European Title?"

VINCE: "No. There's already too many Owen matches. No more Owen."

PRODUCER: "...but it's a great match."

STEPHANIE: "Look, pissant, Owen reminds people of tragedy; tragedy reminds people of Chris Benoit killing his family; people don't want to buy that sort of stuff for their kids."

PRODUCER: "...I don't understand that."

VINCE: (sighs) "That's why you're just an assistant producer."

HUNTER: "What about that match me and Shawn had with-"

VINCE: "Yes, that's an idea I can get behind."

HUNTER:

PRODUCER: "Jesus. Why don't we just put the K-Fed match on there for fuck's sake?"

VINCE: "YES!"
