View Full Version : ROH Running the Hammerstein

Heros Welcome
02-24-2008, 03:09 AM
Just got back from the 6th Anniversary Show at The Grandballroom and had a great time. They promised a big announcement and they said that on May 10th there running the Hammerstein, which I believe holds 3000 people. The most they have had at the Grand ball room is about 1500.

ROH must have an ace up their sleeve if they are leaving a venue they have sold out 7 times so far. So for those who care, what do you think that ACE could be?

For me I'm going to guess a SuperShow with ROH, NOAH, and DG.

BUT, I'm hoping it is the one man that can sell out the Hammerstein.......http://z.about.com/d/prowrestling/1/0/0/5/-/-/rvd.jpg

I also just got back, and it was a great show :y:

I am really really looking forward to seeing ROH in the Hammerstein Ballroom. But, something big must be up because I heard that 2nd row for that show is $75, which is a bit more than usual. Maybe I'm just over analyzing, but what the hell.

RVD & Sabu vs. Briscoe Bros.

Hammerstein holds 2,500, still a big place for ROH. Good to see them taking a risk in NYC, I mean if they sold out the Ballroom 7 times, why not try?

Well if ECW managed to do it back in the day, ROH might have a chance.

Without being too much of a pain, what's the deal with Nigel making Dragon promise not to attack the head and what not? I haven't followed RoH as closely in the last few months. Also, is Nigel still busting out a lariat every other move?

On the lariat front, last night there weren't that many, dragon avoided all but 2 or 3.

As for the attacking of the head...Nigel had been hurt at the 5th PPV taping in NYC, thus missed FB 07 with a concussion and severly bruised up face. So then he went on a big rant on how the 6th PPV taping was very important to him and that if he wrestles Dragon in NYC there is a chance he may get hurt again and miss that PPV so he decided that he didn't want to wrestle. Then dragon came out saying that he needs to defend the belt with honor and dignity for this great company. He then went on to say that if your so concerned about your health I'll promise not to use the elbows or kick your f'n head in as long as I get my match tonight, I'm the best wrestler in the world...I got plenty of more holds to beat you with.

Thats pretty much it in a nut shell

Sounds great, in parts. Nigel McGuinness had a bit of a John Cena thing going on, so him turning is obviously them doing what many have been calling for the WWE to do with Cena.

Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn as the Hammerstein would be fucking sweet, and I can see it selling a few tickets, and moving quite a few DVDs. Put that shit in stores. Throw in a match between Nigel McGuinness and Austin Aries (w/Sunny) for the ROH World Championship, and maybe Bryan Danielson vs. Takeshi Morishima with Danielson finally getting a pinfall/submission over the giant. The No Remorse Corps vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico would be a great culminating match for the show, too. Roderick Strong vs. Erick Stevens for the FIP World Heavyweight Championship.

There could be a lot of reasons to see a show in the Hammerstein.

I thought Necro was dead after that gibson driver on the table. From where I was, looked like a fucked up pedigree. Nonetheless it was BROOTAL

A lot don't like him, but Necro Butcher is actually fairly decent. He's not a brilliant worker or anything, but he'd have fit in great in the old ECW. He's solid enough, but he just works the hardcore style.

I would personally mark out for him turning face on The Age of the Fall one day, and just punching the fuck out of them all. He should be used sparingly, but if you need a hardcore match, Necro is one of the best guys you can get.

Might have been a Tiger Driver '91. Strong does use it now and again, although it has to be said mostly to be a dick.

While it won't happen (can't happen due to visas) I would kill to see this match

Elimination 4 corners tag match.

With the recent news of MCMG rematching the Briscoes in Chicago, TNA talent can work ROH as long as they are not on DVD...I'm also banking on NOAH being a big part of this show.....what I'm getting at is....

Gabe already said this is (another) one-time deal. Whether that's true or not remains to be seen but he normally doesn't 'break character' so to speak to say things like that, so it's probably legit. MCMG supposedly  have heat in TNA so it might be why they're being allowed to work the shows.

On top of which the non-DVD clause makes no sense. So you're saying that the much-hyped, big time tag matches with the MCMG won't be on the DVDs? Nah, I don't think so.

The no-TNA talent thing is still in place, I'm pretty certain of it, whether it's Gabe doing it voluntarily or whatever.

Mr. Nerfect
02-27-2008, 06:39 AM
Yeah, I don't think TNA talent in ROH will become too commonplace. The guys that I think ROH have the best chance of booking, at least right now, would be Abyss and Christopher Daniels. Abyss is rumoured to be taking some time off, so TNA might let him go to ROH and work some matches there (he did an appearance or two with them as part of The Embassy). An Abyss vs. Necro Butcher match would actually be pretty fucking cool.

Christopher Daniels is also wrestling under "Curry Man." There were also rumours TNA was going to let him work some independent shows while they work out just what the fuck they are doing with him. Daniels in ROH working as a heel for a few shows would be pretty fucking grand.

I don't think either is too likely, though.

That would be a pretty good match, although I'm actually not too big on RVD and Sabu as a tag team myself.

I think ROH should consider putting The Kings of Wrestling back together. I don't know what Claudio's motivation for going back to Chris Hero would be, but maybe Claudio can just say that they're friends, and they've had their rough patches, but they are the best tag team ever, and they can overcome that.

The KOW was just a damn sweet tag team.
