So, whats the deal with Keiji Muto wrestling as himself and then sometimes as the Great Muta???

He originaly created it on his trip to america, maybe to make himself more popular with US audiences.

The gimmick became popular enough were he breaks it out once and a while. Only for one-night deals tho. Rarely any long stretches as Muta.

If you're looking for storyline reason, don't bother. There really aren't storylines in Japan. Rivalries and factions are as close as they come to having the drama of us feds.

If I recall, he was suppose to be the son of the Great Kabuki. Muta is also much more vicious than Mutoh. Muta uses weapons, mist, hides under the ring, etc, etc, where Mutoh wrestles more cleanly. It's sort of similiar to Foley, except Mutoh's fighting styles are more distinct to the character.

Ultimately, Muta is more of a novelty act. I do believe there were some story lines in Hustle that involved him, but no real stories in AJPW or NJPW where he normally appears.

Same with Kishin Liger, and to a lesser extent, The Great Koji.

So who is Dragon Dragon, by far the most important question in wrestling right now?

yea, Muta was brought into World Class as the son of Kabuki and managed by Gary Hart. Then he had an incredible run in the NWA. I don't know if he was announced as the son of Kabuki before that though

That match wit Muta viciously laying into Liger until Liger's mask was ripped off mid-match was the goods. :y:

Good match, but the best Muta match ever imo, is vs hiroshi hase.

I've heard the phrase muta scale tossed around in regards to this match, and I know it involves blood, but what is the exact definition.

Muta's masks are the most badass masks in all of prowrestling, tbh. The Jason X and Devil Man ones are particularly sic.
