This is a ridiculously good match, first of all. I'm gonna keep it real and vote for The Million Dollar Man because I want him in the HoF, but this is not to take anything away from the love I have for Rowdy Roddy. Piper is golden on the mic, a great brawler, great ring psychology, probably the best "mid-card for life" guy around. Not sure why Piper never made it to the next level.

Destor
07-13-2008, 10:20 PM
He did. He was main event for years. You don't have to have the title to be a top tier guy. Same with Dibiase. Top guy, never got the gold. doesn't mean he was a mid-carder. They were both main event players.

PRE-WRESTLEMANIA 1-WRESTLEMANIA 2 don't count.

Dibiase is a mian eventer by that standerd though.

Both guys had brushes in the main spot but spent the bulk of their time not their. Ted had the Million Dollar Belt though and Piper wore a skirt. I think this will be an easy choice.

Piper, one of the best heels ever till Hunter came along.

MCEazy
07-13-2008, 10:56 PM
Fuck this is incredibly difficult... Both have impeccable charisma, mic skills and both have shown to be in the top three heels of all time... Its gonna have to go to Piper simply because of wrestling style and the fact he's from Winnipeg.

Damn you Destor for making me choose!!

I wish the draw option still existed. I'm not sure if I can vote in this.

Gonna have to go with Million Dollar Man*.

*This vote bought and paid for by Ted DiBiase

What Would Kevin Do?

Going with Ted on this one. Hard choice, and to be honest, I based it off the fact that Dibiase left, and hasn't come back several times to tarnish his legacy and make other guys look bad.

Well an injury kinda kept him from doing that...

But Piper, he is and always will be the MAN. (alongside Flair of course)

I was thinking this too at first, in the end I tried to compare them both in their primes to come up with my choice, still incredibly difficult though.

Gonna give it to Piper seeing as he was a bigger draw opposite of Hogan. Thats really the only edge I can find for either guy and it isn't much of one.

Damn. This is hard for me. I seriously don't know who to vote for!

Love both of these guys.

Edit: I think I'm gonna give the edge to Dibiase since he hung up the boots before he grew in his gut. I could've gone without seeing that Piper/Hogan feud a few years back in WWE.

I think we might have a big match on our hands.

Piper gets my vote due to seeing more of his work, if i had seen more of DiBiase though, im sure my vote would be different.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

As I said in the last Better Wrestler, it's not that I have anything against DiBiase, it's just that I never really took much interest in him at the time. Piper on the other hand I was well aware of and enjoyed some of his rivalries.

Unfortunately the bulk of my Piper memories is from WCW, and I don't think he did too much stuff of relevence there.

The most difficult match-up to date. I have to say as much as I love Piper, looking back I absolutely love the Million Dollar Man gimmick and I preferred to watch his matches rather than Piper's. Ted Dibiase was also IMO a better in ring technician. Fuck I really wish the draw option was still around...

These two I would put as pretty much equal in just about everything so I guess it comes down to a personal preference, and since DiBiase is one of my top few guys ever, I have to go with him

Teddy gets my vote.... JUST

EDIT: Woah, 10-all

Roddy > Christian > Teddy

I can understand how most would vote DiBiase over Cage (I'm actually shocked at how close it was), but to vote him over Piper, are you fucking nuts? Plus I'm still butt hurt over Taz going over HHH. Honestly, I simply don't understand some of these voting trends. It's beyond perplexing to me. Better Wrestler is like my daily :wtf: moment.

I've tried on a number of occasions to concoct some reasoning to this. I can't. I've seen the majority of Piper's WWF and WCW bodies of work. I still don't get him. I don't get the supposed brilliance of his supposedly classic heel character. Honestly I always thought early 90s face, occasional commentator Piper was far more interesting. DiBiase took a gimmick that would have made a total joke of a lesser man and made it, well, gold. For the love of God-

http://imgserv.ya.com/galerias2.ya.com/img/5/54245ec01323f47i3.jpg

-the man wore THAT BELT and not only made people take him seriously, but made people take feuds that revolved around it seriously! How on earth more people do not agree with me that the man is the greatest heel of the 80s and half the 90s, will elude me for the rest of my life.

Hey Destor, if there's a tie, do the two guys each get a victory and then have to defend against a third guy in a Triple Threat? Or do we just give the win to whoever gets more Kliq votes?

Destor
07-15-2008, 02:37 AM
In the event of a tie the champion retains and moves on but it doesn't count as a victory. The challenger will be allowed to challenge either the next champ or during the next vacancy. Which ever comes first.

Piper. The tiebreaker is that he's got a Scottish gimmick, despite being Canadian. Like half my family.

Fabien Barthez
07-16-2008, 09:45 PM
I thought Ted was amazing at portraying his gimmick. And one of my favourites in the ring. I also feel, an even greater respect for him after watching his shoot interview. Knowledgable about the business doesn't even cover it. And he certainly didn't just fall into a high card role with Vince.

Piper.... I never really understood how everything about him was as Scottish as shortbread, except for anything he said. If you just listened to Piper promo's, you wouldn't guess his gimmick in a million years. I don't think he has ever referenced it once.

He was good with the mentality in the ring, but not the best with exocution. I thought his best match was with Bret at WM8, but I felt Bret had to do more than his fair share to get him to it.

Has to be Ted.

Very funny thrilla,....not!

And i wouldn't say Piper is better than all 3 of those guys.

Piper was never midcard, no matter his place on the card.

His aura alone was main eventer, and the greatest heel of his generation, to the most loved face for a certain amount of time.

Truly one of the very elite.

Piper is a better heel because he was himself. Dibiase played a gimmick very well, but that gimmick was easily detestable, especially back in the day. A blueblood, roch, snobby character that thinks he can buy everyone...yeah no shit it's gonna work.

Piper had people so pissed with him though, simply for being himself, that he caused riots and all sorts of other insane shit. His reactions as a heel were simply at another level to Dibiase's and anyone else's...

Piper was also completely disgusting on the mic and said and did things that normally the pormoter might try to have quelled....but it worked so damn well he let Piper do his thing...which I dont think any other guy was given as much confidence with.

Piper was fantastic, any way you look at it.
