Has anyone heard of this little gem? Apparently it's caused quite the controversy.

Not by being too violent, or too sexual, or too offensive... by plagiarizing about 99% of its contents and SELLING it through legitimate publishers (one being Tri-Synergy) who had no idea that the game was filled with plagiarized material.

More information can be found here: http://lotl.wikia.com/wiki/Limbo_of_the_Lost_Wiki

Basically most of the rooms were made by taking screenshots within games such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Elder Scrolls IV, and Silent Hill 4.. and then plopping them right into the game engine. The player character is the default male character from Poser 4 (a 3D character posing program), modified only slightly, if at all.

Oh, it gets worse. The concept art for the game is plagiarized as well; the drawings are simply paint-overs of existing game artwork, renders, and wallpapers.

It just boggles the mind.

Here is an example comparison:

From Limbo of the Lost:

Old news kinda. Saw a bunch of comparisons to ESIV like 4 months ago. All I can say is AWFUL.

Yeah, the comparissons to ESIV are much better. Especially the shops.

Heh, sorry if it's old news. It's news to me. It just boggles the mind how much of this game was plagiarized.

1. It's shit

2. It had a very limited release, the the publisher pulled it almost straight after this came out.

And yeah, this is about 4 months old now.

Here is the "hilarious" ending to the game

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/URcvdDtnM_0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/URcvdDtnM_0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Part 2 of the ending:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/O1cRUEjpQbI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/O1cRUEjpQbI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The whole game had been planned from the 1990s and was supposed to be released on the Amiga....

I'm not sure why, but it seems vagule familair especially the bug parts...again it was plagierized so probably thinking of a game it ripped off. But the game totally looks early 90's, so what was the point of even bring it out in 2007/2008?

They were always a bit behind. Here is that early 90s version.

Yeah, the ending is epic for the simple fact that the developers were trying SO HARD to be taken very seriously... then it ends with a goofy musical number where the main character (who had no reason to stay or leave Limbo, he was just... solving puzzles and progressing with no direction whatsoever) is crowned the King of Limbo. Absolutely ridiculous.

And the gameplay is horrible. Some of the interfaces and characters are animated so slowly, and it's buggy as hell.

"It's a page." "It's a necklace." "It's a torch." "It's a piece of shit that I actually intended serious gamers to sit through and try not to gouge their eyes out with a rusty spoon."

"I'm not THAT strong."

So...why didn't this sell a billion copies?

It was pulled quickly before it could. And it's crap. Would you pay $30+ for this piece of shit? No. That's what Pirate Bay and other torrent sites are for. ;)
