Shane Douglas, 44, is advertised to make his return to the ring for an NWA affiliate on March 13th at Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, New Jersey against Little Guido (former WWE star Nunzio).

How and why does he keep getting booking dates after throwing down the title?

Because he's the franchise

Well considering the NWA's "affiliates" are running out of HS gyms in NJ, I'd say they need whatever starpower they can get.

and that's a job for The Franchise

I disagree. He was a great promo man, and was extraordinarily good at getting heat. He burnt all his bridges, that's why he went nowhere.

He was good for his time, but by the late 90's he was just another mediocre wrestler, who was only ever average in the ring.

He was shit. He was given ECW's number one spot, and did well with it, but was soon passed over. You could have honestly replaced him at any point and things would not have changed.

Had he never worked in the WWF, he would have been shit. He got over with a crowd that hated the WWF and WCW because he too hated them.

I don't know, I think that if Shane hadn't burnt his bridges with Vince McMahon, he could've been great. He was intense on the mic and he could've used that to his advantage.

Shane Douglas' entire repertoire on the mic consists of "Fuck", "WWE", and "WCW". The first time it was pretty badass, now it's cute.

I always thought Shane would make a great color commentator one day.

Shane Douglas could have generated monster heat, and been a great common-man heel in the attitude era. His persona just fit.
I can just picture him yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs, and the crowd playing into it. Plus with guys like Austin and The Rock to play off, everyone would love to boo him and like to see him get his ass kicked.

This is a question only a mark would ask.

I thought he was pretty damn good towards the end of WCWs life. He was great on the mic and pretty solid in the ring.

Given that half the people we see in the WWE manage to come close in either of the two catagories, that's an acomplishment.

Am I the only one that would like to see that Shane Douglas vs. Little Guido match?

I think Shane is a stellar worker. I would go and see him headline a show in my town.

I always thought Shane would make a great color commentator one day.

So did WWE.

He even received a try-out and a contract offer in early 1995 to become the new co-host of Monday Night Raw (which he declined).
