I think it's a good squad, the last away game before Euro 2004(unless we play just before the tournament) and i'm pleased some new guys have got a chance.Wright-Phillips and Thompson are well worth their call ups,and Defoe's start to his Tottenham career has been good.

Not sure on Green though, but he did look decent last year and Norwich have a good defensive record this year.Walker's back in after returning to his status as the man.

WTF are Vassel and Heskey doing in the team. I don't think they've scored ten goals between them this season.

Shawn Wright-Phillips deserved his call-up.

It's not like we have goalscoring forwards in abundance right now.The only other forward is Beattie but he's not been great this season.

I *think* the top 2 English scoreres this term have a combined age of almost 70-Shearer and Ferdinand( ).:-\

Vassell is useful, pace in abundance! Defoe should get on aswell.

Heskey well... o_O

I'm glad SWP is in the squad, he's been outstanding this season for city. Two players from Arsenal (Cole and Campbell) Man Utd (Neville, Scholes) and Chelsea (Lamps, Bridge) all are rested.. which is nice :).

I reckon we've got a good enough squad to win, which shows good depth in talent.Only Swede(having seen the team) that i'm worried about causing a prob is Ibrahimovic, but i think Terry and Woodgate can mark him out of it.

I'll go with 2-1 England.

Wengerland
03-31-2004, 12:56 PM
Oh yeah,what's everyone else's predictions??

Wengerland
03-31-2004, 04:05 PM
1-0 to Sweden:|

That was quite poor, dominated but still lost.Poor decision to take off Terry and Woodgate and not bring on Wright-Phillips or any other keeper.Only bright spot wa Defoe really.:-\

Dazz
03-31-2004, 04:07 PM
Yes but Joe Cole played well.

Phil Neville played as shit as could be expected at the back.

I love how the English media have gone on about this game for weeks only to say "it's only a friendly" now they lost. Do they say that when they get results against say Brazil? Look at Scotland, we are fu</>cking awful but at least we know it. Both England and Scotland have the same problem. They don't take "friendlies" seriously. Every other country seems to except them. Stop calling them "friendlies", play each other (home nations cup or something), don't back down to club manager, etc. They gotta do something because they aren't going to get anywhere the way they are going.

On another note - Gordon McQueen, Charlie Nicholas and Craig Burley - Numptys! The fu</>cking lot of them.

Jacko

Good result for the U.S,1-0 win away to Poland.:y:

(incase Sephiroth or another American comes back)

Rob

Do I need to bring up that at the World Cup, England only won a single game in without the need of a penalty kick? Sven is doing a great job conning the public.

:D I thought they would win with a higher score though, but they did okay IMO, England though...i really thought they would win from Sweden, i putted 50 dollars on England with 2 friends of mine but thats another story. Portugal-Italy was okay 2, The way the Portugees scored was really nice and i liked the way Italy played. So what do you guys think England is gonna do with the EC? Another question what ever happend to Owen?

Wengerland
04-02-2004, 09:55 AM
Owen got injured in the UEFA Cup game with Marseille the other week,so he's been out since then and wasn't considered.

I personally think England will get to the semi finals at leats,we're good enough to win it but the squad should peak at around the next World Cup.I'm hoping to go to Euro 2004,but i'd miss the group stage matches due to exams.

Bit surprised to hear Italy won in Portugal,i only saw the first 15 minutes or so but Portugal dominated easily.

I was stunned, me being half Italian and stuff i thought Italy would be Portugals bitch in that game, though i think Portugal or the Tsjechs are gonna win the EC. I always liked the way England played but this time i won't put my money on them.

Yeah, France could make it again..though i don't want to see France as an Champion again and i saw Netherlands-France ( i know it's a friendly) and they didn't play all that good, olright Zidane and Vierra were missing but still i think a country like Portugal and The Czech Republic deserves it more but that is in IMO :D

Wengerland
04-02-2004, 02:46 PM
It should be interesting cause there are a few teams that could win it,Czech Republic were looking good but lost the longest unbeaten run for a European side,20 games,to Ireland on wednesday.
