For nothing more than MGS 4, MLB 09 and my extensive rare ps1 library.

Hook it up.

You should know, the newer PS3s aren't backward compatible. Get a PS2 now that they are cheap to go along with your PS3.

I would rather find a 60gb system, just to avoid clutter. Finding one had proven to be...challenging.

PS3's play PS1 games?

I have one. I have used it approximately 0 times. I used to have that Force Unleashed game but it got stolen before I ever played it. I was looking forward to playing PS2/PS1 games on it but I have both of those systems and I don't even think it plays PS1. I have just recently acquired the charging cable you need for the controller so now I can use it. Maybe it can serve as a DVD player for my room. I am waiting for the Final Fantasy 13 games to come out. That is all I want.

I would only use it for the Blu Ray. And the MvC2 demo. :o

What kind of haggard ass place did you buy it from that it came without a charging cable?

I will now attempt to play Star Ocean: The Second Story on PS3.

Lemme know how that works out. I am about to purchase one from a skittish gentleman myself.

The PS3 does not have a PS2/PS1 memory card slot... wow

Gotta buy the cartridge and upload them.

They put a PS2 inside the system, yet you need an adapter to use a PS2 controller, and an adapter to use a PS2 memory card. They should make it so you need a seperate adapter for every PS2 game you want to play, that would probably just make things easier for everyone.

Dude, it's Sony. They nickel and dime you on everything. Do you remember how pissed everyone was when the PS2 came out and it still only had 2 controller ports and even the N64 had 4 ports?

I have 2. One that plays PS2 games, 60 gig, one that doesn't, 40 gig. Selling the 40 gig, so if you're interested, make me an offer.

Love my PS3. Not as much as I love my 360, but it's still great.

Just played a 22 inning game online because the lag on 09' The Show is so bad that neither me or my friend could hit anything. Carlos Delgado lucky hr to win it in the top of the 22nd ftw

That's free online for you: you get what you pay for. The developers have to host it, and that's expensive, so you'll not be finding the consistency of Xbox Live anytime soon.

Big Fat Mike

Idk, I just played COD: World at War online with no lag whatsoever. Oh well.

My only complaint is that most games are more about the online play than any other part of the game (which is sad), so if the selling point of the game is online play why the fuck should I pay for online?

Just tried to play PS1 games on PS3 and it worked. They even let you create an internal PS1 or PS2 memory card on the system which I did not know about. Pretty much eliminated the need to use my other systems now, except for the games that I have saved on memory cards. Might get that memory card adaptor thing to put all the data on there.

i also picked up a dexdrive a few days ago, and its worked very well for uploading some ultimate save files for ps1 games. Always wanted to speed through chrono cross in 7 hours.

Because it will be stable? And guaranteed to be available, even if the game's been out for 5 years. Or if the developer goes under. Or if the sequel comes out.

Now I'm no expert on the small details but I still don't get this 'Well Live is just better ok?' argument. Seems to be just a justification for having to pay for it. I've never had any problems with the PS3 online play on any game

I will say this. I have encountered a far less amount of douchebags and racist children on PSN.

Far FAR less.

I played MLB 09 The Show online for the first time today and it fucking sucked. It said we had a great connection and still there was lag.

It just shut off in a middle of a game, and now when I try to turn it on, it beeps, the green light turns yellow, then it blinks red. Pretty sure it's some sort of hardware failure... I'm a bit worried because I just put a new harddrive in it, and I'm wondering if the drive made it overheat, but it never felt warmer than normal... In fact, I think it was running a bit cooler.

Anyway, I'm going to send it into Sony... It's outside of warranty, so it's going to cost me 150 to get "fixed" (probably get a new or refurb")... It's cheaper than buying a new one though. The "repaired" PS3 comes with a 90 day warranty, so I figure I can put my new harddrive back in it, and if it fucks up again, I know that's the problem.
