View Full Version : WWE Bragging Rights

From PWInsider:

First WWE's 10/25 PPV was called Cyber Sunday. Then, because the buyrates for the fan-voting concept kept dropping, they scrapped the interactive idea and the name of the show was changed to Annihilation. Then, reportedly because some folks in management didn't like that name, last week WWE changed the title back to Cyber Sunday. We told you all not to get used to that one, with good reason, as it's been changed again.

WWE.com now has a page up for the show and the new name is "WWE Bragging Rights". Was Annihilation worse than that?

I think they are trying hard to screw the adult audience from the viewership.

At least they're not stealing the name from a UFC PPV like they are with Breaking Point.

All matches will be non-title and only for bragging rights.

Each match is a staring contest.

There should be a stipulation on that PPV that all losers are to have their bragging rights removed, and must become humble shells of their former selves.

Jericho versus Miz in a rant match. Both men should keep on talking about "hypocrites" and "I am awesome" respectively until one passes out.

So it's pretty much confirmed that they're bringing back the "Judy Bagwell on a Pole" match?

Ohhhhh then the Iron Sheik must be the Guest of Honor for this PPV...he enjoys making people humble...

What a dog name.

Annihilation is at least something you could pass as an Attitude Era PPV name.

You're just guessing that, right? Because if that's true, this may end up as one lame PPV.

night of champions also annoys me
'the only night where every championship is on the line'

but wasn't every championship on the line at the bash?
championship matches is the least i expect from a ppv

I could pull better names and ideas out of my ass.

WWE-WildCard
The gimmick is someone who has not gotten a title shot in a year or more gets a title shot. This isn't a storyline, this is just a way to help build a younger talent when the champion goes over. Make it a battle royal to declare who gets the title shot, a tournament, or pick guy's name out of a hat. Do that for one brand, someone from the ECW New Talent program thingie, and don't put the third title on the line (opt for a tag match or something with that brand's champion). Book the rest of the ppv as normal.

Don't want a gimmicky ppv? Fine.
WWE Redemption
WWE Heat Wave (they do have the rights to that name, right? it would be a nice intro to SummerSlam)
WWE Fall Out
<strike>WWE Crush Hour</strike>
WWE Mass Attack (or is that too edgy for Linda?)
WWE Break Down
WWE Living On The Edge (or simply On Edge)

Or, and here's a wild concept. Are you following me, camera guy?
Don't do 842390 ppvs a year.

WWE UnCensored*! The one night a year when the WWE Completely ditches the PG-13 crap and goes all out. Extreme violence, blood, cussing..maybe even naked Divas..leave the kids at home for this one!

*not to be confused with WCW's crapfests known as UnCensored.

The name sounds like the name of a show that some really terrible British Indy Fed would put on at a local town hall and the posters describe it as "Real American Wrestling!". One of those sorts of Feds that have a roster full of old fat men. :|

But seriously though, Bragging Rights? It's possibly the worst name they've came up with yet.

Bragging Rights.....well they don't have much to brag about with producing shitty names like that.

But I'm to lazy to think of an alternative.

WWE Presents "Please spend $50 of your hard-earned paycheck on our new crap pay-per-view this Sunday..."

That's what they should call it, if they care in the least about being truthful.

I wish WWE would just keep it to 12 ppv's a year. What do they have now like 14? Bragging Rights is so stupid!

Cool King
07-15-2009, 02:13 PM
Yeah, they have one every month except for June & October which have 2 PPV's. Though depending on which day WrestleMania falls on, April sometimes has 2 PPV's also, which leaves March with no PPV at all that year.

To be fair though, sometimes Cyber Sunday would happen in November, so sometimes it would be two events in April, June and November, other years it might be two in April, June & October, or just June & October, or even June & November.

But yes, they need to cut back to like, I dunno, maybe 9 or 10 PPV's annually MAX.
