View Full Version : Kimo dead
Apparently had a heart attack. Being reported in some weirdo websites but waiting for the big ones to confirm.
As I type this, TMZ have it on their site.

Veteran mixed martial arts fighter Kimo Leopoldo, who made his debut at UFC 3, is still very much alive despite numerous reports to the contrary.
Lweopoldo’s attornety ttorney Victor E. Hobbs said “Kimo has surfaced and that’s all I know right now.” He referred all questions to Leopoldo’s manager, Ron Kort. Kort’s voice mail box was full and could not accept messages.
Leopoldo’s death was first reported on an Internet bulletin board. The erroneous report was quickly picked up by celebrity website TMZ.com, numerous MMA websites, and was also reported by the New York Daily News and the Orange County Register.
Leopoldo, 41, of Irvine, Calif., was sentenced by a California judge on Monday to 10 days of community service and required to participate in a drug diversion program. He had been arrested in February in Tustin, Calif., on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.
More details to follow.

We should organise one of these rumours on here about someone random, and see if it gets picked up by the more 'reputable' sources.

I never liked him after he ran out and celebrated Royce Gracie's injury (moments after having been tapped out by Gracie).

But he caused Gracie to not continue in the tournament which Gracie had dominated the previous two years..
Also, you gotta think, back then it was more a tough man competition than a true sport which you see today..

Plus, that was his first professional fight from what I've seen..

Did Royce Gracie's not continuing the tournament actually count as an official loss with the UFC? Cause he walked out and everything and then decided he couldn't go before the fight started..

Kimo was a win but the next fight was a TKO loss to Harold Howard due to "Towel Thrown at Start of Match"..

But if he had stayed in the back as per the tournament rules and said he couldn't continue and had a backup fighter take his place, would that have been a loss?
