View Full Version : Anyone get picked for the Dashboard update "beta"
Awhile ago they had sign ups (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/ms-opens-xbox-live-update-preview-program/) and I got an email tonight saying I was "accepted". Anyone else?

Negative. Just finished my second go around of Mass Effect. No messages or pop ups of any kind.
May YOU got special parameters we don't? High gamerscore, good internet? Fill us in.
Maybe, I dunno. I was thinking what their "target audience" would be, and I didn't think I'd qualify because I do not have Netflix (I know it's a big part of the update).
So far, it seems much faster (WHICH IS SO FUCKING NEEDED HOLY SHIT). The Friends part of the dash almost loaded instantly, instead of taking 30 seconds. Did not see anything like that at all anywhere. Probably because there is no netflix in Canada tho. I hope the fix the freezing thing. Sucks when you have to send a message and there is a 20 second delay before you can return to the guide menu.

I didn't have any delays when we were messaging. I hope to God this is fixed.

It' not just messaging, tho. It's the guide in general, the games marketplace and the friends list. All of them freeze from time to time.

I didn't sign up because there didn't appear to be anything new that I would use. Faster friend list is a god send though.

Okay, so I know it's not Gamerscore. I'm over at the Preview forums and there are some people with less than 1k. :-\
Okay, so 2 things that weren't listed that I found. There is now an option to clear the cache, so no more "secret code". And if you try to send a message while on mute, it tells you you're an idiot.
Also, I'm thinking maybe this is why we couldn't hear each other earlier today, "RoXy".

Turned on the box a second ago and got the update. Seems pretty good so far, will be interested to see what the rewards are for being a gold member and the avatar clothing from games aswell. Got some decent things on the avatar marketplace (monkey island pieces) although I'm not liking the price for them though.
...okay, so I got another email saying I was accepted :wtf:

So when you go to the friends tab and you can see all their avatars and when you press A for "View Details", a number next to the gold status pops up. Mine is 1. Some of my friends have 4.
What does it mean?

But I know for a fact that there are some people who should be at least 2 and theres no number at all.
Does that nu.ber reset if you don't renew maybe?

Well, they found a lot of people were stressed out by the possibility of a RROD, so they removed the possibility.

If you've gone longer than 2 weeks without being Gold, then it resets you.
