The Tokyo Game show starts this Thursday and runs from the 24th to the 27th. With this being held in Tokyo and being the last major show of the year, I'd think a few Japanese companies will use it to reveal or update us on new games. Anyone got any expectations or hopes for the show?

I'm expecting a new trailer and/or info for the next Zelda on Wii, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Mario Galaxy 2, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and MGS Rising.

I'm not sure if I have any hopes other than some new, interesting game announcement. I'm interested in MGS Rising and Castlevania but I'm not following them as closely as Red Dead Redemption, Fable III and Ballad of Gay Tony and I can't imagin any of those last three will be involved in TGS.

Final Fantasy 13 is coming out there in December but there is really nothing interesting for us since it's in japan

With Sony's success of PS3 Slim, this is now their chance to get back in the game. And they can get it started with some Uncharted 2 goodness.

There is talk about Street Fighter IV getting a "sequel" announced at TGS. It was mentioned on the official Capcom Japanese blog/Q & A and is "practically confirmed". It's too soon for SFV so I and others think this could just be an updated version of SFIV with new characters etc.
An older article from June this year mentioned Rolento and Goukens Daughter among other things. Here's hoping it's DLC if it is SFIV and not some whole new disc they want us to buy.

They said they'd throw in Dee Jay and T. Hawk if fan demand was high enough. I want some Dee Jay, plz.

Balance issues and redundant characters.

That can be solved in SF4: Dash/Turbo/Championship Edition. You have to know they work in threes with the series. We're getting at least two more updates before the definitive version. Although the next SF4 would actually be the third version, so I guess the next one is the final cut.

As long as they don't expect me to go out and buy a whole new disc for whatever they have planned, I'm all for it.

In Capcom related TGS news, Capcom have said Dead Rising 2 will make an appearance at TGS, having missed PAX earlier this month due to "Worries about Swine Flu".

You talking update download or full on new disc? Because they can't seriously expect people to shell out for a new disc these days without it either starting off at $20 (like Lost Planet: Colonies Edition) or it being an entirely new game.

I rather a large 800mp update, but most likely it'll be a new disc at full price. And not only can they expect the community to eat it up (see Madden's numbers), they can bank on it.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo (PSP) (http://pspmedia.ign.com/psp/binary/article/102/1027904/NPJH90063.zip)

Save on a card or transfer via USB to your PSP. This is an interesting method.

So I think TGS has finally began because some info etc is coming forth.
Microsoft have announced a list of companies working with Natal.

Activision Blizzard
Bethesda Softworks
CAPCOM
Disney Interactive
Electronic Arts
Konami
MTV Games
Namco Bandai
Sega
Square Enix
THQ Inc.
Ubisoft

Keiji Inafune, Hideo Kojima and Sega's Toshihiro Nagoshi will be at the MS conference panal to discuss the possibilities of Natal. I'm sure a lot more interesting info about other games etc will come about by the end of the day.

TGS did indeed begin today and was opened with a keynote speech from Kaz Hirai.

I think the only notable thing that came out of it was that the Playstation UI (the motion controller) is coming out Spring '10.

Also the Wii is now $199, but I doubt anyone here cares.

Wait, the Wii is $199 now, like as in in the U.S., or just the equivalent of US$199 in however many yen that translates to over in Japan?

I mean, I wouldn't think it'd make a huge difference, but it might bump up US sales of the Wii at least somewhat more in the US if it's the new US price.

I just updated the Dead Rising 2 thread. A few videos of it out of TGS. Multiplayer and a few new weapon combos. A pitch fork and a shotgun, for example. It all looks pretty cool.

Hideo Kojima and other big name Japanese game creators did a panal about how great Natal is. I was going to post the video but I can only find a 2 minute long version and the translators pretty bad and it's not even a clip worth watching. Hopefully a better, full version is uploaded eventually. I'd like to see what they say.

I think TGS is finished for the year. I think it sucked. Nothing worth shouting about, really. It was either very minor info, things I had seen/heard before or didn't care about. Fable III didn't get a video shown after all and I didn't hear anything about any games I was hoping to hear something about. I'd have thought Nintendo would have said something about Zelda Wii or Mario Galaxy 2. I thought maybe Sega would have said something about Project Needlemouse. Isn't TGS usually a good place for reveals and trailers of Japanese developed games?

It's all my opinion, maybe you guys thought TGS was amazing. Like I said, I thought it sucked.

Biggest problem this year was all the big news and stuff was announced either before TGS or would be assumed to be shown. No real big surprises like most Gaming Expos and Shows have.
