What are some face/heel turns that you liked through the years.

Face turns
Batista-the tension built between him and HHH leading up to the contract signing for WM21 (which is another of my favorite RAW moments). His turn was done perfectly using the thumbs down on HHH and the crowd ate it up. Batista was extremely over in 2005 and I actually enjoyed his title reign.

Kurt Angle- Invasion storyline (one of my all time favorite versions of Kurt Angle) He became the anti-hero that made Steve Austin a crowd favorite and the crowd loved him second only to The Rock.

Randy Orton-I know I might be alone but when he spit in HHH's face and was face for a couple of months it was enjoyable. One of my favorite moments is the night after Summerslam with the thumbs down to Orton. I thought that it should have been the other way around and they turned on HHH, but it still worked for the brief time they did it. The crowd was cheering him before he was turned specifically in the month of July when he feuded with Edge over the Intercontinental Title.

Heel Turns

Hulk Hogan- The ultimate babyface in wrestling history sticks it to WCW and creates one of the greatest wrestling factions of all time the nWo. His "stick it" promo is my all time favorite promo by any wrestler. The man is extremely charismatic and had the crowd loving or hating him every step of the way. My favorite incarnation of Hogan is the black and white Hollywood Hogan where he would point to his hand and say the power that even the promoter doesn't possess brother. I don't think his turn can be topped, at least nobody has yet.

The Rock- 1998 Corporate Champ turn. The Rock was the People's Choice to take out Mankind the supposed Corporate Champ and stick it to the McMahons. One of the greatest swerves ever and it gave The Rock his first WWF title in the process. The Rock was a perfect fit as The Corporation's top guy.

Stone Cold Steve Austin- Austin shaking hands with Vince McMahon is something fans could never fathom, but when he put aside his rebelliousness against authority for siding with the boss, fans weren't happy. He managed to get the crowd to chant Austin sucks and in my opinion my favorite run of his is 2001-it is my favorite title reign of all time. His heel turn gets alot of criticism but I thought it worked pretty well.

Chyna- The Rock fought HHH in the I Quit Match on RAW. Kane lifts Chyna ready to chokeslam her and Bossman makes HHH say I Quit. Trips does and Chyna nails HHH right between the legs. To be honest, who could have seen that coming? It was brilliantly done and HHH looking up at Chyna saying Why and then piefacing him down was great. I am a Chyna fan so it was good to see.

HHH- I like when he turned on HBK, but my favorite heel turn of his is at Wrestlemania 15. DX looked like they were back together as one since Chyna helped HHH against Kane, "but it was all a ruse" (Michael Cole's exact words). HHH tapped X-Pac on the shoulder during his match with Shane McMahon and nailed him with a Pedigree severing a friendship and cutting loyalties to side with Shane McMahon. Brilliant move and the beginning of The Game/Cerebral Assassin.

Hogan's heel turn was probably the biggest WTF moment for me. I was probably screaming like Tony Schiavone at the end of any WCW show.

Jericho's initial heel push as the 1st Undisputed Champion before the whole Triple H-Stephanie McMahon part of the feud. Managed to beat the Rock and Stone Cold in the same night then developed the cocky character even more with the belts.

Even though he turned heel a couple of months before the Undisputed Title win, that push as a heel started off pretty well.

Other moments include Mr McMahon heel turn after The Screw-job and Hogan's heel turn during the initial NwO phase.

I might be off with some of this but what I thought what was great with this is that it looked like they were in the middle of a monster face push for The Rock. Rocky had entered as a babyface pushed down the fans throat and handed the IC title which the fans hated. They then got to grips with him put him in the NOD and built his character up. He had solid feuds with Austin and Shamrock over the IC title which showed that he belonged near the top of the card. His personality shone through until he became so entertaining that the fans wanted to cheer him, a feud with Vince McMahon solidifying this position. It got to the point where he was in for a shout with the WWF title at Survivor Series 98. Although not favourite to win his potential as an outsider was something a lot of people could get behind and when he got to the final he was the 'people's' face to the corporation heel. However, they turned him heel by the manner in which he won the title. This instantly made him a main event heel which was a masterstroke because he most likely would have lost some of his appeal as a face Main event champion and he gained a lot from being the Corporation's main heel.

That Undertaker one is fucking stupid.

"Show me respect, JR, show it to me by kissing Vince's ass".

At the time, I thought it was pretty shocking. I will still fairly marky, and when Taker turned and asked JR if he wasn't going to kiss Vince's ass because he thought he was better than him, I was like "what the fuck?" JR played his role perfectly there. His reaction to Taker was perfect -- and his initial defiance to kiss Vince's ass really sealed his fate.

And the story about The Undertaker there was that he hadn't literally kissed Vince's ass -- but he had company loyalty -- and that, in its own way, was kissing Vince's ass. A guy like JR who stood up to Vince was the anti-thesis to what Taker was.

That Taker turn was gonna be my choice too. I prefer my turns to come out of the blue (but hopefully still make sense).

Shane McMahon running in as referee at Survivor Series 1998, counting 2 for Austin then flipping him off was epic.

It wasn't really a "turn," but I still vividly remember the night when Paul Heyman was punishing the Alliance members that lost their matches the previous show. He would go through them, and when they were brought up, The Alliance would beat them down. It built up to Rhyno having his name called, and the place going nuts because they knew Rhyno would fuck some shit up. Then Heyman put a halt to things and simply suspended Rhyno before anyone could be humbled. This was done explain Rhyno's absence while he was getting his neck repaired.

So he wasn't really a face after that, in fact I think he returned to SmackDown! as a heel the following year; but the fans were so ready for it. One of my favourite face turn teases, if you will.

That...was cool. Dave will be so much cooler as a heel than a face. I call him "Dave," because using his first name symbolises his coolness. I just hope they don't do a "crazy, paranoid" heel Dave. He should just be a stylish big man who wants his belt back.
