View Full Version : Should I trade in my 360 for PS3?

I dunno. Kinda reached the point where I don't have anything left to play on my 360. Most of the games I play are on both platforms and I really wanna get MLB '10: The Show. But is it worth it? Can I play DVD's on it even though it has a Blu Ray player? What should I do?

Yes, the PS3 can play DVDs.

Save up and buy a PS3, it's what I did :o

If it was a yes/no answer I might be inclined to care. The "both" option allows me to tell you to buy an Neo Geo instead.

I personally enjoy my 360 more than my PS3. There have been few games I really wanted for PS3, and it's basically been used as a blu ray player, which i don't even use all that much. I semi regret getting it, but dunno. Pretty excited for Heavy Rain and GOW3. It's a personal choice I guess. My friends all play online with 360, so that's a big bonus for me. Otherwise the systems are gonna offer the same games, with some awesome exclusives on each side. PS3 has the blu ray player though which is a nice bonus if that's your thing.

If you have a good HDTV, then most definately save up and get one.

im with Papa-G on this one...same situation, my PS3 is a Blu-Ray player, with exceptions of a gamer every here and there that are PS3 exclusives.

What are some +/-'s for the PS3?

IMO, PS3 > XBox

What are some +/-'s for the PS3?

+'s:
Blu Ray Player
PS3 Exclusives like GOW3, Killzone
Internet browser
PSN is free. (No buying subscription cards)
PSN Store has alot of classic PS1 games for download
Wireless right out of the box

-'s
Even though PSN is free, XBL is a better online community

That's all I can think of at the moment. It's really just based on preference. If your a more casual gamer who likes to play games and wants a blu ray then this is a great choice. 360 is more for the hardcore online gamer since it doesn't offer to much outside of that that it beats PS3. They both have Netflix. 360 you can actually get on Twitter and Facebook.

There's something I've heard conflicting reports about, but can the PS3 play PS2 games?

The 40GB cant, the rest can.

The 40GB cant, the rest can.

No, only the 60GB's can. And not all the 60GB's, just the early ones. (There might be an 80gb released in US that can, might be wrong though)

If you buy brand new, you will not have PS2 compatability. If you buy second hand, check first.

I guess I also have false info.

For a year my PS3 was nothing but a PS2 with a wireless controller. I got Call of Duty so I play that online. But it's still good for old games. Unlimited memory cards = what I needed 10 years ago

you forgot no Gears of War, Halo, Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect, etc etc etc. Simply put, when it comes to better exclusive titles, the 360 has that hands down.

Yeah, 360 definitely has more exclusives, but PS3 has the better ones, in my opinion. The Uncharted games, are probably my favorite single-player experience in the current generation.

Yeah, been waiting on the right set of PS3 exclusives to sway me (GoW 3 and Yakuza 3 will do it), but as far as everything else, 360 can do what the PS3 can and I'm not that interested in Blu-ray.

I've always saved up to buy the other consoles since the MD/SNES days. I always ended up missing my old system, I think I ended up trading one for the other about 11 times. (Straight trades with friends, not store credit)

Even then, if it's not a quality brand like Sony or Phillips, etc., you will barely see a difference.

I've got a crappy sanyo atm, and the difference is reallllllllly subtle. Upgrading next month, so that should be quite awesome.

Yeah, I have a bad-ass (well, was when it was bought) Samsung 42" 720p/1080i but I can really tell the difference in 720p mode (I hate interlaced format)

You can tell the difference a lot more if you weren't watching DVD's in progressive scan though TBH
