's Hall of Fame invitation.

From PWInsider:

As we broke earlier today in the PWInsider.com Elite section, the original plan for the 2010 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony was to make former WWF champion The Ultimate Warrior the star inductee. Warrior originally agreed to be inducted but made the decision last week to pull out of the Hall of Fame, according to multiple WWE sources.

With Warrior's departure, the expectation is that the induction of Stu Hart will be the primary focus of this year's ceremony. On the Elite Hotline, I discussed the early plans for who would handle his induction and accept the honor on Hart's behalf.

That's a shame. I don't really understand why they made that DVD completely trashing him before offering him a Hall of Fame spot, though.

Yeah, seriously, wtf did they expect?

Still, I'm glad they went that route, cause the dvd is hilarious.

The Ultimate Warrior is my favorite of all time, so this actually does make me a little sad.

Wouldn't there be more money in a 3-disk set not shitting on peoples' childhood hero?

Really makes Vince looks like a huge hypocrite to sell a DVD bashing the guy for two hours and then try to induct him into the Hall of Fame a few years later.

Man, that sucks.

I expect that this will re-ignite some sort of internet feud where Warrior will claim "this is the reason", and the WWF side will claim "no, this is the reason".

You seriously going to buy 3 discs of warrior matches?

God help you.

I don't know, the dvd they made was pretty great. Most of the people who thought he was great as a kid think the whole thing is a joke anyways.

Me? Fuck no.

But marks would. The Savage DVD sold like mad. Good matches, admittedly. And so did the Hogan DVD(s). But you don't think a proper Warrior set would sell?

I actually didn't have a problem with the DVD. It's actually one of my favorites. Ultimate Warrior is in my top 5 list of favorite wrestlers ever. If you watch the DVD, they praise him a lot up through WM 6 and then shit on him afterwards. I really had no problem with that because he did a lot of shit to be shit on after Mania 6

I have an old Ultimate Warrior hasbro figure from the early 90s on my desk.

With that being said, I think he's a joke. I like the dvd the way it is.

What's funny is, they don't undersell him. They make no bones about the fact that he was over, and had a short, but great run.
They also talk about how much of a psycho he was/is, and how poorly his career progressed.

I don't see the problem here. It's he truth. A 3 disc set would have been uncalled for, and pretty hard to fill with good matches and good things to say.
I think his best matches are on the dvd as it is.

They think he was a self-destructive lunatic, who was unprofessional. They also know he has a nostalgic following, and the gimmick means dollar signs. A Hall of Fame induction isn't deserved from a professional standpoint, but I'm sure Vince saw the situation and realized he needed a big name inductee, and he could make some cash off Warrior's gimmick.

It makes him a hypocrite, in some ways, yes. It cheapens the Hall of Fame as an honor, since they obviously don't want to honor him.
It doesn't say anything about his popularity and gimmick that they don't admit though.

Bret Hart comes back...Wendi Richter into the HOF...now Warrior was gonna be in too? I'll be damned. Vince really must think he's dying soon or something.

Since you're in such a forgiving mood Vince, LET SAVAGE IN! :(

Wonder how pissed the video editors are now that one of the "packages" theyve been compiling is now worthless. Though knowing wwe it would just be a montage from their warrior dvd.

How great would it have been if Batista inducted him?

That's a shame, he should be in the Hall solely for his WM 6 and WM 7 matches

The WWE Hall of Fame needs only one man to be the focus: BOB BACKLUND
