I'm back. About 30 seconds in
Haha only one side of the door handle broke off.
I actually loved that Goldberg theme
Man, I had forgotten all about this match
I didn't mind it - just thought it was an unnecessary change. On that note, of all the things they decided to keep about the "WCW Goldberg mystique," the walk from the back was probably the one they should have cut.
It was unnecessary, but I ended up kind of preferring it.
damn, what a chair shot!
was just going to say
a people's chair shot
They don't swing chairs like that anymore
Quote:
They hardly swing chairs
I honestly don't remember this match or the reason for it.
Goldy
This was when Christian was trying to be "the next Rock" after he left following his loss to Goldberg at Backlash 2003, and part of Christian being "the next Rock" was defeating Goldberg.
That's pretty lol
Who wants the next turn? redoneja, if you got something it's all you
I'll go after red
Okay. Red, then Juan.
Alright. Watching the Akiyama/Morishima match got me in the mood for Puro, so I figured I'd post this for those that aren't too familiar with Japanese wrestling. It's a great match, uber-stiff. To give you a bit of background, these two are probably considered the strongest and toughest wrestlers in Japan and this was there first ever meeting in a singles match. Real interesting segment in part 2.

It may be a bit lengthy, but I think it's worth it.
lol amazing intro to kick it off
That's some epic-ass theme music.
If I was a wrestler, I'd definitely want to spend some time in Japan. I don't think I could take some of those stiff shots though.
and I'd definitely rock a cool looking mask.
Is this a huge event?
It's also interesting to note that at the time of this match Kobashi isn't very far removed from a 2 year reign as GHC Heavyweight Champion and that his knees are in terrible shape.
Quote:
I believe this was NOAH's second event in the Tokyo Dome. Not sure on the capacity but its huge. For instance, if WWE wanted to run Wrestlemania in Japan for some reason, they'd run Tokyo Dome. |
Japanese fans pop for some odd things. I suppose its just cultural.
To build up this match even more, imagine a match with the build-up and awe from a mark's standpoint like say, Hogan v Warrior at Mania VI, but the wrestlers have the work ability of Hart v HBK.
That's probably how Japanese fans approached this match. |
I'd by typing more, but I'm having buffalo wings while I watch haha. This is great so far
Halfway through the second vid: Jesus christ!
He had a match with Joe a few years back, right? If so I watched it
I was waiting for someone to mention that.
Holy crap. Chop City!
In regards to Fox's comment.
I love his corner chops spot
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese wrestling. Is this chop war a normal thing?
When you get to the chop battle, turn up your volume and just listen.
Or is it like Benoit's 10 German Suplexes to Austin in that one match and more of a one time occurence?
Quote:
It's based on this whole concept called "Fighting Spirit". Basically you just dish back and forth taking each other's best shots until the strongest wrestler is determined. |
Sweet looking 'plex
PS. I just started on the 3rd vid |
Is that half nelson suplex his trademark move?
I'm ab 2 minutes behind you Juan.

 @ the brainbuster on the outside
damn

Kensuke's feeling it!

Damn. You can see how bruised their chests are in some of the close ups. Just brutal.
6:00 was interesting
HOLY SHIT at that sleeper suplex!
Nasty finish. Great pick, red.
Sweet match :y:
Great finish
Quote:
Thanks man. Notice the stiffness in the last spot (Rolling chops in the Lariat)? |
I got so caught up in it, I totally forgot to think about my pick. Give me a min!
I need to watch more Kobashi. I've only watched a small amount of his matches. Including the one with Samoa Joe
No rush Juan
Yeah those spinning chops were fucking brutal. Triple H would cry like a bitch if he got hit with one of those.
Quote:
He's got some great matches from his early career against Dr Death Steve Williams. Now, this was before Kobashi was as high up in the card as he was in against Sasaki. He was also (obviously) younger and more mobile at the time, so his style is a bit different, but still excellent. |
I'd still love to see cross promotion where Vince let a top WWE guy go have a match there
Ok, there's no way I can top that last match, but here's my pick...
Stone Cold Steve Austin & Triple H vs. Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho <div><object width="480" height="381"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/k4gGFPbiU8XPLkFRj0&related=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/k4gGFPbiU8XPLkFRj0&related=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="381" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always"></embed></object><br /><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5xtt2_wwe-chris-jericho-chris-benoit-vs-s_sport">WWE Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit vs Stone Cold & Triple H</a></b><br /><i>Uploaded by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/bizzy94">bizzy94</a></i></div> |
Starting now. One of my favorite TV matches ever.
Loved the Two Man Power Trip

Also, Heyman on commentary was GOLD |
lol thumb in the eye
Interesting tidbit: If HHH never tore his quad here, the Invasion likely would have been started much later and probably unfolded way differently.
I have read that the injury of HHH and The Rock leaving to make a movie prompted WWF to pull the trigger on the WCW storyline, which was going to be more steadily built with more involved. |
Quote:
On a side note, THAT'S the Stephanie McMahon I would like to fuck.
I dunno about that hairdo though, Steph.
ROFL Earl Hebner slipped
Also, if this injury never occured things would have been very different with the Wrestlemania 18 main event and HHH's career.
He probably would have continued on in his heel capacity of 2001, rather than the superman face version of him in 2002, and then his power. Word was always that the injury gave him more clout in the long run. |
lol Hebner. Stephanie looked great around that time. Also, in that video I posted earlier of the 10 man tag.
lol Hebner keeps getting owned
Fuck H must've been in some real pain during that Walls of Jericho
Jericho vs Austin. The greatest fued that never happened. They had a fued and a few matches, but it was cut short by the Invasion. If not for that, it probably would have continued and maybe led to him putting Jericho over. That fuckin Invasion
Love that match
Such a wonderfully put together finish. Props to HHH for being able to do his part in it too
Anyone up for a turn? If not I'll go, if anyone wants to stick around and watch another
I'm in Jerry
Okay gimme a sec
Take your time, I'm gonna go have a smoke
I was having trouble finding a few obscure Raw main events I was looking for, so I went with this for now.

I'm holding off for now. Lemme know when you're ready to start
Ready Freddy
ok go
lol at Shamrock's promo
lol gotta love that rock promo
I love Foley's here
lol Mankind
woo! Sacramento!
rofl "sell that abortion"
This is pretty much Shamrock's last hoorah
Shamrock is the face going into this, and The Rock is the heel. Pay attention to the crowd
lol @ Lawler's Canada comment
The Rock's music here is just plain classic
A triple threat cage match is a very strange and interesting match to attempt to pull off.
The Rock later used that "you and me team up on him"-then attack his "ally" from behind spot in the Wrestlemania 2000 main event.
I love things like that |
