so are Bo and Din gonna bang or what?

Lock Jaw 04-13-2023 10:11 AM

And will Din wear a helmet?

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-13-2023 10:17 AM

He better wear the helmet! /armorer

Lock Jaw 04-13-2023 03:10 PM

On his wang

Destor 04-18-2023 07:57 PM

Im all caught up on mando.

A propose a new title for the series. One that encapsulates the spirit of its beginnings but is more current. Freshen it up a bit:

A Mandalorian

Destor 04-18-2023 07:58 PM

The protag literally doesnt have an arc this season. And we force fucked grogu back in only to not give him an arc either. But hey he's got a robot so maybe thatll sell some toys.

Destor 04-18-2023 08:00 PM

The only way this works is if whatsher face dies in the finale and passes on her messianic quest to Mando. Otherwise there is, literally, no character arc for the protagonist across 8 episodes.

Lock Jaw 04-18-2023 08:12 PM

Whole thing with IG-88 was kinda weird

"I need IG-88, I'm going on a quest to get some parts because I can't use anyone else"

Next planet: "How about this one instead?"-"Oh, sure, why not."

Then eventually: "We rebuilt IG-88 as a present to you! But not really, just as a mech-suit for Grogu!"

Destor 04-19-2023 10:54 AM

Finale is very good. Doesnt salvage the season but its a strong ep. Couldve easily condensed this run into 3 episodes

Lock Jaw 04-19-2023 10:31 PM

Sweet finale. Feels like everything is "wrapped up" in a full circle/complete.

SPOILER: show
Feels like maybe there won't be a S4. They might pick up on Mandalore a bit with Sabine in Ahsoka and then maybe it isn't until this Filoni movie that we see Mando return, hunting down Imperials.

"lol" though @ Moff Gideon seeing that "The Mandalorian has escaped" and even have tracking on him on a map somehow.... but then sending no one after him and just letting him come.... I forget if that scene was before or after Mando destroyed his clones.... if it was after then it is even more "lol" because presumably he would see Mando approaching his super important lab and do nothing about it and send no one to try to stop him... and then be super mad about it.

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-19-2023 10:41 PM

This season definitely was a big meh. I still enjoyed it and I enjoyed-ish the finale while I watched it but was left feeling empty. Tried to serve too many masters throughout the season and it turned into something quite vapid.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-15-2023 09:19 AM

Andor is a god damned triumph. What a fucking show.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-15-2023 09:22 AM

Holy shit--Nicholas Brittell (the composer of Succession's epic score) also did Andor's score.

El Vaquero de Infierno 07-13-2023 12:00 PM

I've generally kept away from Disney-related shows and films, post-Endgame, but I'm down for some Ahsoka.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-13-2023 12:06 PM

Did you not watch Andor? It was fucking sick.

El Vaquero de Infierno 07-13-2023 12:46 PM

After the crap that was the Book of Boba Fett, I've stayed away from any other Star Wars series. Granted, I've heard good things about Andor, so if Ahsoka brings the goods, I'll watch Andor.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-13-2023 12:58 PM

I assure you that Andor will prove to be better, although Ahsoka should be lots of fun. Dave Filloni has done some good stuff, but he is limited. Tony Gilroy (who did Andor) is on another level. It's a much more "grownup" show with better dialogue and acting and storytelling. A slow burn.

poopfromweiner dude 07-13-2023 08:35 PM

crazy Darth vader dient have a father

poopfromweiner dude 07-13-2023 08:35 PM

McLegend 07-14-2023 12:24 AM

If you think about it he was always a slave… To his emotions!

poopfromweiner dude 07-14-2023 12:38 AM

yeah that's what I said

Lock Jaw 08-23-2023 12:30 AM

Ahsoka off to a great start. The Rebels sequel all us nerds wanted.

SPOILER: show
In a way it is also proving how much the sequel trilogy went off the rails. Very similar plot threads of a "map" to find a lost Jedi (and Thrawn), but a more interesting plot of two parties trying to get there first.... and being another galaxy that they are going to opens up possibilities of not just Thrawn and the Imperial threat but perhaps other stories and threats that aren't a rehash of the Empire, like bringing in the Yuuzhan Vong into continuity or something.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-25-2023 11:22 AM

Ahsoka was good but in the middest sort of way.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-31-2023 09:36 AM

3rd ep felt a bit more focused.

Lock Jaw 08-31-2023 10:01 AM

Have a "bad feeling" that the masked dude will turn out to be Ezra, and feel like that is "too obvious/lazy" a reveal...

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-31-2023 10:34 AM

Visually, a dark-sided Ezra would be cool. But I agree that it'd be lame and eye-rolling.

Lock Jaw 08-31-2023 05:03 PM

I mean, I did kind of vote in my head to have Ezra be more "grey" when they find him, cause he always seemed like he could go either way...

Like Enzo from season 3 of Reboot when he becomes a gritty adult.... except maybe with more extremes of Ezra doing "bad things" but in the name of what he thinks is best/good....

But revealing him under the mask would be "meh"...

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-31-2023 05:27 PM

I'm fine with grey Ezra. Just him under the mask would kinda stink lol

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-06-2023 07:00 AM

This past episode was aite. Liked the reveal at the end. Part of me really doesn't enjoy how Sabine is being portrayed and written. The saucy, conflicted Mandalorian teenager worked on the cartoon, but the schtick is grating in live-action. She's also supposed to be an adult by this point, so you'd expect the teen angst to be dialed down a few notches.

Plus she's definitely written as a liability. Why is Ahsoka even working with this person if she can't be trusted to do the right thing?

Dave Feloni just kinda bugs me.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-06-2023 07:35 AM

Ray Stevenson is great, though. More of him.

Lock Jaw 09-06-2023 09:41 AM

Wonder if they recast his character should he survive the season. Seems like he coulda been a big part of the upcoming Feloni movie.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-07-2023 09:25 AM

The “stoicism” critique is a strong one for this show. And some people have misinterpreted it as “women should smile” instead of Dave Feloni and whoever is directing lacking the nuance to direct and convey an engaging stoic character. Lots of forced gravitas that doesn’t land unless you’ve maybe watched all of rebels and even then it’s a stretch.

This is still a decent show and way better than the past few non-Andor efforts just because it’s not a total practice in futility and the acting is way better. But fuck me, this is Feloni’s attempt at a masterpiece and what we are getting instead is something (relatively) solid but sometimes middling without much oomph.

Lengua 09-08-2023 12:33 AM

Maybe they should have given filoni a couple of years of directing episodes of other stsr wars shows to grt the full transition from animation to live action.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-08-2023 09:14 AM

Tbh I was vibing on Boba Fett at first (not Feloni, but a similar kiddie Star Wars property) which is objectively a million times worse than Ahsoka lol. The finale was bad enough that it ruined whatever good feelings I had about it.

I may just be burnt out on Star Wars cuz I keep finding things I don’t like instead of leaning into things I’m digging.

Lock Jaw 09-08-2023 09:54 AM

My friend pointed out something to me and I kind of hate him for it because I couldn't stop noticing it now when watching the latest episode... and that's just that everything looks too clean.

So now I couldn't unsee it and was like "ugh, why does everyone's clothes look brand new, like it is the first time they ever wore it? Why does Sabine's bag she is digging around in look so pristine? How is the ship so clean?"

But other than that gripe now, I've been really enjoying it. Better than Fett, Kenobi, Mando season 3.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-08-2023 10:01 AM

lol your friend's take is the height of dipshittery. Like...I get those details DO matter. But they should be celebrated when they're minded instead of derided when they're missed. The story itself and the way it's shot and acted is so much more important.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-08-2023 10:12 AM

That said, I know a lot of people like the aesthetics of the show. It's not QUITE doing it for me pallet-wise. I find it a little drab and dismal, which I get is thematic. But Ahsoka at her best is such a vibrant character. Seems so counterintuitive to weigh her down with all the grimness.

Lock Jaw 09-08-2023 08:01 PM

She was more "solemn" in Rebels than she was in Clone Wars already, but yeah, I wouldn't mind a little bit more "passion", maybe even some "snippiness".
