"Celebrity Dad of the Year" Titus O'Neil suspended

During the ending of last night's Raw taping in Seattle, Washington, a number of WWE personalities and staff were assembled on the stage in honor of the retiring Bryan Danielson. At the end of that segment, which aired on Raw before going live on the WWE Network, Danielson returned to the locker room after passing through the center of the assembled WWE personnel.

As WWE talents returned to the back, O'Neill grabbed WWE owner Vince McMahon in what was described to us as in a "playful, physical way." McMahon responded by shoving O'Neil away. McMahon's shove of O'Neill actually made it onto the final seconds of the broadcast. We are told that McMahon was angry at being grabbed and that led to the suspension.

When O'Neil arrived at Smackdown, he was informed he was going sent home. The word making the rounds is that the suspension could be for upwards of 90 days. That would put O'Neil out of action through May, which means he would be missing Wrestlemania 32.

O'Neil, 39, signed with WWE in 2009 and is best known as one half of the Prime Time Players, although he's been used most recently in a singles role. He's been very active in local community outreach where he lives in Tampa. O'Neil had lost to Adam Rose earlier during the Raw broadcast.

Last night, the WWE Network exclusive video of Bryan Danielson's farewell was removed from Youtube and WWE.com as well as the WWE Network. It is likely that WWE is going to edit the snippet at the end out before restoring the videos.

I do remember watching something towards the end of the broadcast but couldn't say for sure.

Wow!

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-10-2016 11:09 AM

No fun league

Evil Vito 02-10-2016 11:10 AM

Said it in the other thread but this is basically the Paul London smiling incident all over again. If it happened just 2 seconds later when the cameras were off nobody would have seen it and Vince likely wouldn't have cared.

Evil Vito 02-10-2016 12:19 PM

Should have gotten his money's worth and hit a Clash of the Titus off the ramp

Theo Dious 02-10-2016 01:44 PM

Pretty sure if any of us put out hands on an employer we'd get worse. Fucking dumbass to think that was okay.

drave 02-10-2016 02:32 PM

The CEO and Chairman at that.

Ultra Mantis 02-10-2016 03:13 PM

Titus probably just wanted to ask Vince an urgent question, like why did he get jobbed out to Adam Rose? What happened with the Prime Time Players? Why didn't he wrestle Stardust this week?

Volare 02-10-2016 03:37 PM

Well damn.

Said the other, sometimes featured for a moment on TV, black guy.

Nicky Fives 02-10-2016 03:42 PM

Whatever was so urgent, I don't see how it couldn't have waited until they were behind the curtain and off-camera in literally 10 seconds....

The answer to all of the above - "cause he sucks."

John cena is the only black guy who can lay hands on vince

Either Tidus didn't think the cameras were still rolling or timed the ribbing badly. Vince probably got even more pissed when it was found out that the rib/play fight was on tape.

Maluco 02-10-2016 07:09 PM

Prob not the right time to do it, but a complete overreaction from someone who is known to actively encourage that sort of messing around. Maybe a bit older now but it is still silly and has blown out of proportion a stupid moment and embarrassed both Titus and McMahon for his reaction.

90 days is amazingly harsh, he will miss his Mania payday and possibly 6 figures in money because of a pull on the arm.

Ridiculous imo

Simple Fan 02-10-2016 07:16 PM

Vince broke kayfabe with this one. Roman beats the shit out of him and didn't get suspended. 90 days is whack though.

Emperor Smeat 02-10-2016 07:22 PM

According to F4W, big reason for the 90 days wasn't soo much what Tidus did but the constant stuff going on backstage with everyone that has been pissing Vince off for a while. Wrestlers doing stuff in ring that Vince didn't approve was also another reason like Rock going off script with his promo last time.

Apparently Vince hates how much the roster goofs off backstage or breaks his rules with the Tidus situation as the final straw. Threw the harsh punishment at Tidus hoping everyone else would get the message.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-10-2016 07:42 PM

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-10-2016 07:42 PM

I feel like I did that wrong, where's the Kopfman when you need him?

I'm guessing it's too much to expect a quote from someone in the decision making group?

Just take their word for it I guess.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-10-2016 08:03 PM

Why the hell would anyone give them a quote if it could cost them their job?

You don't see athletes throwing their coach or owner under the bus with quotes. You only see speculation in the media and rumours from unknown sources.

You fuckwit.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-10-2016 08:06 PM

Also, one bit of proof we have that Vince isn't too happy about people going off script is The Rock's quote (see he can give quotes because Vince needs Rock more than Rock needs Vince) verifying that Vince was not too happy about Rock going off script.

So with the slightest bit of critical thinking skills, one can see some validity in this, given the nature and timing of the suspension compared to what Titus actually did.

Again, you are a fuckwit.

Don't have access to Observer/F4W's paid stuff nor listen to their radio shows so got the news from someone at another board that does and has been very trusty worthy when it comes to posting sheet news from paid places. That person didn't post quotes and only a summary of the report.

From the way it was explained to F4W, it was several people within the WWE trying to explain to Brian Alvarez on the reasoning behind the suspension.

Evil Vito 02-10-2016 08:53 PM

Even if Meltzer had a direct quote, I doubt he would say anything to blow cover for his sources. There is also the occasional big story he could break in advance of WWE announcing something but he doesn't do it because he knows where his bread is buttered.

You were thinking of his stunt double, Darren Young.

Wishbone 02-10-2016 10:23 PM

I swear CyNick is Vince McMahon in disguise. No one else could be that much of a "fuckwit" as Gorgeous Dale Newstead so eloquently put it. The man is either a brilliant troll, or the biggest dick rider of the WWE this forum has ever seen.

Dark One 02-10-2016 10:30 PM

It sucks for him that he was suspended, but I most certainly will not miss his matches.

Emperor Smeat 02-11-2016 02:01 AM

WWE released an official statement on the issue and mostly to respond to a report from the NY Post implying the WWE was racist for suspending him.

Also backed down a bit on the 90 days punishment and instead got 60 days which still keeps him out of Mania.

Quote:

O'Neil had nothing to do with race and everything to do with unprofessional conduct," WWE told the Post in a statement. They added that Titus "acknowledged the gravity of his mistake" in a text message, writing:

"I feel like s--t now so if you have to let me go, I understand. Stupid mistake."

He will always have a bright future in Blitzball, so he should just take the release.

Vince seems delusional. How dare his employees have fun.

The fact that they even had to say it had nothing to do with race is sad. What has this world turned into?

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-11-2016 11:37 AM

Yeah to think that this was a race based decision just because the guy being suspended was black is racist in itself.

Stupid overly self important decisions can be made without race being involved . Titus isn't a top guy and he pissed off the big man. Really that simple. Still dumb as fuck though

Rammsteinmad 02-11-2016 12:10 PM

Funny considering how Vince is the guy who used to attack Kurt Angle on a plane... hardly the most professional way to act in such a setting.
