The Genius 08-09-2010 10:29 AM

head of the class

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-10-2010 01:52 PM

Two people said none? Wow, just wow. :eek: :nono:

Cheers.

Coach came out in 1989, so I don't really count that as an "80's comedy." If nearly all of your seasons happened in the 90s, you're a 90's show.

IC Champion 08-10-2010 02:02 PM

The 80s were awful perioid. Music, TV, Fashion, it was all an atrocity.

I did like Cheers though, thats about it.

Loose Cannon 08-10-2010 02:05 PM

Wonder Years by 5000 miles

The wonderful thing about the 80's that it was a very UNIQUE decade.

ANYTIME you hear an electronic beat produced over a synthesizer your brain immediately thinks...hey that's an 80's song!

The TV in the 80's wasn't the best but it totally trumps the 20's and 30's (see what I did there). Some of my favorite shows debuted in the 80's including Wonder Years, Simpsons, Roseanne ect...

Fashion...how can you not look back on the 80's and smile remembering your older brothers senior picture with the flock of seagulls hair do or seeing how many cans of hairspray your sister would go through to get her hair to reach the ceiling. It is not really attractive anymore but it sure is a trip and I would never call 80's fashion bad...because it was the thing at the time....

in 30 years you might look back on baggy jeans, giant sneakers with no shoe laces in them & backwards baseball caps and cringe the same way some do at 80's fashion.

I'm still hoping that Zuba pants become popular again so I don't get so many stares when I run to the gas station. :kiss:

weather vane 08-12-2010 05:19 PM

The 80's were mint....

weather vane 08-12-2010 05:24 PM

There is a shit load of mint shows... how can anybody not like these shows?

Cheers
Wonder Years
Coach
The Cosby Show
Who's The Boss?
Saved by the Bell
Night Court
Family Ties
Growing Pains
Doogie Howser
Empty Nest
Family Matters
Full House
Punky Brewster

SO MANY

Sixx 08-12-2010 05:50 PM

Married With Children, easily.

There was also this one about some fade-away long-haired rock star guy that had old pizza slices all over his house, but I can't remember the name and don't even know how to find it.

McLegend 08-12-2010 05:57 PM

Charles in Charge

V 08-12-2010 05:57 PM

am I the only one who watched "out of this world" ?

DAMN iNATOR 08-12-2010 06:30 PM

Was always fascinated with that show growing up.

From Schlomey's list:

Watched these on at least a semi-regular basis. (Note: I never watched the NBC "Must See Thursday" because I had church choir that night, and the family didn't get a VCR until almost 1990.)

* A-Team
* Airwolf
* ALF
* Baywatch
* Blue Thunder (Dick Butkus and Bubba Smith FTW)
* Bosom Buddies
* Cheers
* Doctor, Doctor (Matt Frewer's return to TV after Max Headroom - tremendous show that didn't get a chance to shine)
* Enos (Don't know how I stomached this show, but I did. I musta been hoping for some Daisy Duke cameos.)
* Fall Guy
* Family Ties
* Greatest American Hero (I SO wanted a supersuit of my own.)
* Growing Pains
* Hardcastle & McCormick
* Head of the Class (Khrystyne Haje was HAWT! Wish there had been some WKRP cameos.)
* Knight Rider
* MacGyver
* Magnum P.I.
* Max Headroom (Too far ahead of its time)
* Mission Impossible (1988)
* Moonlighting
* Mr. Merlin
* Night Court
* Perfect Strangers ("Of course. Don't be riDICulous!"
* Quantum Leap
* Remington Steele
* Silver Spoons
* Star Trek Next Generation
* T.J. Hooker
* Too Close for Comfort
* Who's The Boss?
* Wiseguy

Shows I watched that were missing from Shlomey's list:

- Sledge Hammer! (If this show had been made with Tackleberry from the Police Academy movies as the main character instead of a blatant rip-off it would have done SO much better)

- The Wizard (A globetrotting, crime-solving genius midget with enough gadgets to make James Bond blush)
