Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:45 PM

I'm back. About 30 seconds in

Fox 01-14-2009 11:45 PM

Haha only one side of the door handle broke off.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:47 PM

I actually loved that Goldberg theme

Juan 01-14-2009 11:47 PM

Man, I had forgotten all about this match

Fox 01-14-2009 11:48 PM

I didn't mind it - just thought it was an unnecessary change. On that note, of all the things they decided to keep about the "WCW Goldberg mystique," the walk from the back was probably the one they should have cut.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:50 PM

It was unnecessary, but I ended up kind of preferring it.

Juan 01-14-2009 11:50 PM

damn, what a chair shot!

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:51 PM

was just going to say

Fox 01-14-2009 11:51 PM

a people's chair shot

Juan 01-14-2009 11:51 PM

They don't swing chairs like that anymore

Juan 01-14-2009 11:51 PM

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:52 PM

They hardly swing chairs

redoneja 01-14-2009 11:53 PM

I honestly don't remember this match or the reason for it.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:55 PM

Goldy

Fox 01-14-2009 11:55 PM

This was when Christian was trying to be "the next Rock" after he left following his loss to Goldberg at Backlash 2003, and part of Christian being "the next Rock" was defeating Goldberg.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:56 PM

That's pretty lol

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:56 PM

Who wants the next turn? redoneja, if you got something it's all you

Juan 01-14-2009 11:57 PM

I'll go after red

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:58 PM

Okay. Red, then Juan.

redoneja 01-14-2009 11:59 PM

Alright. Watching the Akiyama/Morishima match got me in the mood for Puro, so I figured I'd post this for those that aren't too familiar with Japanese wrestling. It's a great match, uber-stiff. To give you a bit of background, these two are probably considered the strongest and toughest wrestlers in Japan and this was there first ever meeting in a singles match. Real interesting segment in part 2.

redoneja 01-15-2009 12:00 AM

It may be a bit lengthy, but I think it's worth it.

Jeritron 01-15-2009 12:00 AM

lol amazing intro to kick it off

Fox 01-15-2009 12:01 AM

That's some epic-ass theme music.

Juan 01-15-2009 12:02 AM

If I was a wrestler, I'd definitely want to spend some time in Japan. I don't think I could take some of those stiff shots though.

Juan 01-15-2009 12:03 AM

and I'd definitely rock a cool looking mask.

Jeritron 01-15-2009 12:03 AM

Is this a huge event?

redoneja 01-15-2009 12:04 AM

It's also interesting to note that at the time of this match Kobashi isn't very far removed from a 2 year reign as GHC Heavyweight Champion and that his knees are in terrible shape.

I believe this was NOAH's second event in the Tokyo Dome. Not sure on the capacity but its huge. For instance, if WWE wanted to run Wrestlemania in Japan for some reason, they'd run Tokyo Dome.

Fox 01-15-2009 12:05 AM

Japanese fans pop for some odd things. I suppose its just cultural.

redoneja 01-15-2009 12:08 AM

To build up this match even more, imagine a match with the build-up and awe from a mark's standpoint like say, Hogan v Warrior at Mania VI, but the wrestlers have the work ability of Hart v HBK.

That's probably how Japanese fans approached this match.

Jeritron 01-15-2009 12:12 AM

I'd by typing more, but I'm having buffalo wings while I watch haha. This is great so far

Fox 01-15-2009 12:12 AM

Halfway through the second vid: Jesus christ!

Jeritron 01-15-2009 12:13 AM

He had a match with Joe a few years back, right? If so I watched it

redoneja 01-15-2009 12:13 AM

I was waiting for someone to mention that.

Juan 01-15-2009 12:13 AM

Holy crap. Chop City!

redoneja 01-15-2009 12:14 AM

In regards to Fox's comment.

Jeritron 01-15-2009 12:14 AM

I love his corner chops spot

Fox 01-15-2009 12:14 AM

I'm not a huge fan of Japanese wrestling. Is this chop war a normal thing?

redoneja 01-15-2009 12:14 AM

When you get to the chop battle, turn up your volume and just listen.

Fox 01-15-2009 12:15 AM

Or is it like Benoit's 10 German Suplexes to Austin in that one match and more of a one time occurence?
