Skippord 06-22-2012 04:54 AM

almost as much as I love Bray Wyatt, way better than his gay elf brother

Skippord 06-22-2012 04:57 AM

fucking dominates that character

Skippord 06-22-2012 04:58 AM

this show does a good job of building dudes up

Skippord 06-22-2012 04:58 AM

lol Johnny Curtis, actually pretty awesome

Skippord 06-22-2012 04:59 AM

Bray Wyatt is my new favorite though

Skippord 06-22-2012 05:00 AM

George Hackenschmidt would be disgusted by Bateman and Curtis

Skippord 06-22-2012 05:00 AM

Regal should be announcing Raw and Smackdown

"That Johnny Curtis is a filthy swine, if I were Derrick Bateman I'd rip his throat out."

Skippord 06-22-2012 05:54 AM

watching that Bray Wyatt promo again awesomeeeeeeeeeeeee

Skippord 06-22-2012 05:56 AM

I am a total Braytard right now

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-22-2012 06:49 AM

I kindof know that they have to have WWE superstars, but I hope they give the rookies more time to have than just quick squash matches from now on.

Tyson Kidd and Michael McGuillacutty are too good to be on NXT well Tyson Kidd is.

Not sure why they would give Connor O'Brien a cool gimmick and then keep his name as Connor O'Brien. Seems to off-set everything.

Great promos by Seth Rollis and Bray Wyatt.

Bo Dallas kinda looks like Juvy without the mask. Hope he can get a better finish that that weak ass hug-spear.

Can't wait for next weeks episode with Claudio and Rollins.

Evil Vito 06-22-2012 07:10 AM

<font color=goldenrod>When this starts airing in the US, I wonder if it'll start from the beginning. Wouldn't surprise me - since the rule of thumb seems to be that if it doesn't air in the US, it doesn't really count. Hence why there's no mention of the new NXT anywhere on WWE.com</font>

Dolph Ziggler's brother. I hate that they don't call give him the "Ziggler" name, however. He should even call himself "Dolph Ziggler's Brother" to get heat.

Mr. Nerfect 06-22-2012 07:24 AM

The WWE clearly wants Bo Dallas to be the star of this thing, and the dude is young and has that "Superstar" vibe. His Spear did not look the most vicious this week, though. I suspect that Bo will get over with the crowd, though (he already sort of is), and that he'll be promoted to either the RAW or SmackDown! roster pretty quickly. Either that or they'll create an NXT Championship for him.

I loved the Seth Rollins video, actually. I've heard fantastic things about Rollins in the ring, but not so many great things about his promo skills and personality. This video really hid that well. He talked clearly and confidently (granted, this was an edited video), and he seemed like a star. I could see this guy being the first major break-out star of the new NXT experiment, even though there are probably a few guys who would prefer that to go to Bo Dallas or Richie Steamboat first.

Bray Wyatt's character is amazing, and what I really love about this new NXT is the different vibe to production. I still want to see Wyatt on the main rosters, though, but I guess this will be a great little test run for the character.

Tyson Kidd and Michael McGillicutty got to work the main event to get the new era of NXT off with a bang, and it was a pretty nice little bout. These two could have a great match with each other in their sleep. It did at times feel like they were wrestling the same match as they did on NXT the other week (that really awesome one), but they did work some great stuff in there. I wish they would give a kayfabe reason for these two being involved in the new season of NXT, however. It could be that Dusty Rhodes has known these guys for years, since they grew up in the industry, and that he wanted them to work for him. Kidd could have said yes because he will take any chance he can to wrestle, while McGillicutty said yes under the advice of William Regal, who could be mentoring McGillicutty behind the scenes and telling him to get that practice in NXT so that he can go on to RAW and SmackDown! and dominate.

Dark-Slicer Diago 06-22-2012 07:29 AM

Saw this on TV yesterday and it was awesome, I can't wait for next weeks.

Evil Vito 06-22-2012 07:45 AM

<font color=goldenrod>Bo Dallas is one of the ugliest human beings on the planet.</font>

Mr. Nerfect 06-22-2012 07:58 AM

Yeah, I find it weird that the WWE seems to be giving him the gimmick of a good looking guy. Not to poke fun at the dude or anything -- but it just seems so forced.

Skippord 06-22-2012 07:59 AM

His eyebrows infuriate me, and that dude was really Dolph Ziggler's brother? Maybe he's fantastic at wrestling too.

Skippord 06-22-2012 08:01 AM

seriously how awesome is that British guy from The Ascension?

not Bray Wyatt awesome, but pretty awesome

Dark-Slicer Diago 06-22-2012 08:04 AM

I have to agree, he is awesome.

VSG 06-22-2012 08:05 AM

Check out other Ascension matches in my thread, Kenneth Cameron has a fantastic look to himself. Love his intro part where he shines that light on himself.

He was really awesome. I had no clue who Kenneth Cameron was, other than he was teaming with Conor O'Brian, but he impressed me. Cannot wait to see more from him.

Skippord 06-22-2012 08:16 AM

I hadn't heard of him either. I still didn't know his name until like halfway through the match. But either way he fucking rules.

Mr. Nerfect 06-22-2012 08:33 AM

I'm curious to see whether or not this Corey Graves & Jake Carter tag team is anywhere near as good as The Ascension. So far they don't have a name, which has that working against them. They have the son of Vader, but they don't have Kenneth Cameron, either.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-22-2012 12:02 PM

Loved it, probably enjoyed it more than Raw. It's was one hell of a good idea to have it here so they can not only groom the future of the in-ring performers, but also the future productions guys. Those Bray Wyatt and Ascension videos were awesome and a lot better than anything WWE has done in-house for a while.

I really enjoyed Bray in the ring when he was Husky Harris too so I can't wait to see what he can do with a character that he already seems brilliant in playing.

Also, holy fuck Ascension. If they ever get called up, they shouldn't change a thing about their promo video to announce them before they debut, their entrance and their look. Pretty sure that the short matches will carry on for a little while yet while they introduce some of these guys and girls, but after a couple of months they could get some stories going, especially utilising Dusty Rhodes in that GM role.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-22-2012 12:03 PM

Oh, I know we'd all love JR to be on one of the main brands, but this is perfect for him. The best guy to sell these guys talent along with Regal and for him personally, working once every 4 weeks or so based in one place? Man, this is going to become must see.

Triple Naitch 06-22-2012 12:13 PM

Can't believe Johnny Curtis didn't wash his hands.

The Ascension seem pretty badass. How did they make Conor O'Brian's eyes blue like that?

That Bray Wyatt promo was awesome.

Jason Jackson kinda looks like Donald Glover.

So pumped for Bo Dallas. I mean, he's single.

Black light from the videocamera

Volare 06-22-2012 12:23 PM

It fucking works like a charm :)

XL 06-22-2012 01:21 PM

Great start!! Loved pretty much everything about it.

The guys producing this can't be doing Raw/SmackDown. In one show they have stablished around 6 guys, who they are, what their gimmick is, etc.

The vignettes for Rollins, The Ascension, Wyatt, etc were all perfect. The stage/ring set up is perfect. Ross/Regal/Dusty are all perfect in their roles.

Things I noticed:

I like the new intro/music, etc. Real fresh start.

How different do the Rotundo kids look? Do they have the same mother?

The Ascension look really cool/have a cool gimmick...but their names kinda "betray" their image. Kenneth Cameron and Connor O'Brian soundlike two RyBack jobbers.

Also, feel like they could do with a valet (which I learned they used to have), maybe Buggy Nova would be a perfect fit?

Love the fact that there's no bullshit competition aspect.

I really think they should have a NXT Championship. It'd give everything more purpose beyond trying to progress to the main roster.

They're not. There's some WWE guys I would imagine, but students from the college they're taping from are working on it too. It's an NXT for them as much as the in-ring talent, I believe.

Emperor Smeat 06-22-2012 03:32 PM

I believe the WWE is only using the place to test out some new equipment like what was done during the Ascension stuff and to hire some new employees for their video department.

Probably won't see stuff they are using on a regular Raw or Smackdown until maybe months from now at the earliest.

Gertner 06-22-2012 05:40 PM

1. Absolutely can't stand Bo Dallas. He's horrible.
2. The Ascension are amazing.
3. Sandow is awesome
4. Kidd vs McGillicutty was fantastic.

Emperor Smeat 06-22-2012 05:45 PM

Yeah The Ascension are pretty amazing especially their debut video/promo.

Wyatt's stuff was also pretty amazing.

Gertner 06-22-2012 07:00 PM

Tyler Black's promo was your typical indy "grrr I'm intense" bullshit that ROH wrestler can only do.

Cool King 06-22-2012 07:30 PM

I thought NXT was fantastic and the fresh start is what it really needed.

I'm unsure on Bo Dallas. I get the feeling that he's being made to be the face of NXT. :-\ Also, his hair is weird. I've never seen long hair on a man, that long, be so straight.

Now, The Ascension. I love those guys. I don't have a problem with their names like some people do but they are just fantastic. The entrance was great and the WWE really needs something like The Ascension, entrance and all. These days you just get a tag team consisting of "Generic Name 1 & Generic Name 2" and they just walk down to the ring either smiling and high fiving the fans if they're faces or walking down and showing off/scowling if they're heels. The closest we've had recently is O'Neil and Young being collectively know as "The Prime Time Players". (Who, by the way, are pretty fantastic themselves)

You don't really get tag teams like The Ascension, these days, as far as gimmicks, looks, entrances, music and so on goes.

The main event was great and seeing the crowd get into it was good too. It was a great main event for the "re-birth" of NXT. Also, having Regal & Ross at the announce table is a great idea. Both guys are fantastic at putting over younger guys and they will play a key role in getting the FCW guys over with the fans. Also, they do their jobs correctly and actually call the match, call moves by there actual names and put over talent, unlike Lawler and Cole whole just constantly talk about the "main event guys" and how great the WWE is in the entertainment world and Twitter. I was so happy I didn't hear Twitter get a single mention. (And for the record, yes, I do know Vince tells Lawler and Cole what to say)

So overall, NXT is now a must watch for me, just like Raw and SmackDown are. One thing I will say is that it needs Championships, but I'm sure they'll be appearing very soon. Also, I hope vignettes don't always play for someone before their entrance and we see their opponent already in the ring. I noticed that everyone that won (apart from Kidd) had a vignette play before their entrances, so it kind of took away some of the "element of surprise" for me during the matches.

I know they were used as a way to inform us of the wrestlers but why not have it for the other guys too?

Skippord 06-23-2012 05:55 AM

I keep thinking about how much Connor O'Brien's vocal chords must hurt.

I think that will change. Most of the weeks of taping so far have been shorter squash matches to introduce these guys to us. I think some of the guys beat will have them too in future episodes when they're the ones being showcased.

I think the next 4-8 weeks will be very similar so they get a roster together and then we start seeing some competitive matches and, hopefully, some storylines.

If they do go the route of the storylines, I hope it's like the production is in the fact you've got established WWE staff overseeing, but the general direction comes from the guys at university.

That's the part of the show that I find the most fascinating. It's basically an internship for the next generation of video production.

Definitely an amazing video and an amazing character put forward by Wyatt. I said a couple of weeks back that I really want to see Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton feud. Now, more so than ever, given Orton's recent suspension, I think that a feud between these two could be absolutely great. Eli Cottonwood has been released, but have Big E. Langston play Wyatt's new follower. Wyatt attacks Orton and talks about what he talks about -- Orton's sins catching up to him and Wyatt being the monster that eats the monster -- and Wyatt and Orton have a match. Orton wins via disqualification when Big E. Langston makes his debut and attacks him, but then Wyatt wins a Steel Cage rematch between the two.

Push this character to the moon.
