Official kickoff tonight. Packers vs Saints - 8:30 PM on NBC

Battlekat 09-08-2011 08:33 AM

I don't think they could have picked a btter game to kick things off. I'll definitely be watching with beer in hand and a fantasy stat-tracker up on the laptop.

Same. I would have liked to see Pack vs Falcons, but Pack vs Saints is good.

Battlekat 09-08-2011 10:30 AM

Would have rather seen Steelers vs Ravens, but I'm biased as a Steeler fan. Too bad we shit the bed in the Super Bowl.

Manning has another surgery today, per Michael Lombardi. Sorry, RP. How about some Brady Quinn, or Kyle Orton :naughty:

Edit: Also...

Quote:

@mortreport: Sources say Manning had surgery this am - cervical fusion with 2-3 month minimum recovery. No word on if he'll be put on IR.

Nark Order 09-08-2011 03:13 PM

eh fuck. Can somebody just pick me a team to root for this year? I don't want to hang myself after 4 games into the 9ers season

I'm highly worried the Eagles offensive line. Highly worried.

RP 09-08-2011 05:47 PM

Think I'm going to drink some beer and have a good cry tonight.

DrA 09-08-2011 07:02 PM

What is with this Houston Texans hype all of a sudden. They have a real good chance of becoming the Arizona Cardinals of this decade.

RP 09-08-2011 07:15 PM

I still think the Colts will win the division. I believe in the other players on this roster. Keyshawn Johnson just said the Colts have maybe three players who can start on another team....

I wonder which three. Jeff Saturday, Reggie Wayne, Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Austin Collie, Dallas Clark, Antoine Batha? I think there's more Pro Bowls between these players then Keyshawn had carr tds.

RP 09-08-2011 07:16 PM

Its time for Kurt Warner to do Gods work. And by that, I mean come qb the Colts.

Reavant 09-08-2011 07:17 PM

im willing to bet that they give gerrard a call

Innovator 09-08-2011 07:19 PM

I'm sorry RP.

CSL 09-08-2011 07:21 PM

I think Kerry Collins is going to do okay

CSL 09-08-2011 07:26 PM

these kickoff concerts are always pretty bad. And didn't Maroon 5 die like 5-6 years ago?

Gotta be honest, right now, if I have to watch a Maroon 5 concert, I might kill myself.

CSL 09-08-2011 07:38 PM

they only showed like one song, the band after were much worse. Which really says something.

RP 09-08-2011 07:45 PM

You really have to be horrible to be worse then Maroon 5.

FearedSanctity 09-08-2011 08:06 PM

When I think football, I think Maroon 5

RP 09-08-2011 08:19 PM

I'm taking the Saints + 4.5 tonight

The only pickem league I'm in this year is the Simmons one on espn.

Innovator 09-08-2011 08:25 PM

Kid Rock main eventing the kick off show.

Thanks Janet.

Droford 09-08-2011 08:25 PM

Im still taking the Colts +8.5. The Texans are monumental chokers in games where they're expected to win..and this game went from "upset if they win" to "upset if they lose to the Colts without Manning".

My Betting Picks Week 1

Saints +4.5
Chiefs -6

Lions -1 (or Pick'em)
Bears +3
Eagles -4.5
Colts +8.5
Browns -6.5

Ravens -1.5
Titans +1.5
Cardinals -7
Seahawks +5.5
Giants -3
Chargers -9

Cowboys +4.5
Patriots -7
Raiders +3

Droford 09-08-2011 08:32 PM

13 Time World Champions

So the Packers need another one to be the Ric Flair of the NFL?

Innovator 09-08-2011 08:34 PM

Just give me Faith Hill so I know it's football time.

RP 09-08-2011 08:38 PM

Seems like Jordin Sparxx sings the anthem every year.

RP 09-08-2011 08:38 PM

She's pretty good at it.

RP 09-08-2011 08:39 PM

Come on Devery Henderson!

Innovator 09-08-2011 08:47 PM

God that back shoulder ball is a thing of beauty.

Droford 09-08-2011 08:51 PM

Ravens/Steelers is exactly like the Colts/Texans game last year

loser of the Super Bowl on the road for a Division game vs a team that they've pretty much dominated as of late. Texans took it to the Colts and I have every reason to believe that the Ravens will beat the Steelers just the same.

RP 09-08-2011 08:52 PM

Did I mention that both my $40 and $20 money league teams are playing against Aaron Rodgers tonight? Yikes. Rough day today.

Droford 09-08-2011 08:53 PM

This game is gonna be over by the end of the 1st quarter at this rate

RP 09-08-2011 09:01 PM

Has Rodgers missed a pass yet? I'm down about 20points now and the first quarter isn't even over.

DrA 09-08-2011 09:03 PM

No surprises so far.

Droford 09-08-2011 09:12 PM

I dont understand why in the interest of safety they moved the kickoff making just about every kickoff a touchback, so why not just end kickoffs and start everyone at the 20 all the time.

RP 09-08-2011 09:20 PM

I'm getting obliterated by Rodgers right now. I need Devery Henderson to do something.

RP 09-08-2011 09:38 PM

Donald Divert just got lit

RP 09-08-2011 09:39 PM

DARREN FUCKING SPROLES!

Droford 09-08-2011 09:49 PM

I think I expected both team's defenses to show up a little more than they have so far..

Nark Order 09-08-2011 09:52 PM

Darren Sproles, son. Former Charger power.

I benched Packers defense for 49ers cause I thought this might be a shootout.

Nark Order 09-08-2011 10:40 PM

Sproles another big return. These returns are stabbing bitches.

RP 09-08-2011 10:43 PM

He's in! For the love of god I needed that lol!!!!

Team Sheep 09-08-2011 10:51 PM

Wow this tackling is rusty. Great advert for the game for opening day though :D

RoXer 09-08-2011 11:12 PM

How did the Saints not know Kuhn was going to run that in? 70,000 people called it. And he went in practically untouched.

Droford 09-08-2011 11:44 PM

lol if Sproles takes this punt back

didnt even kick it to him..guess I dont blame em

Droford 09-08-2011 11:45 PM

I dont have money on the game but im rooting for the saints just to have them cover the +4.5

Droford 09-08-2011 11:47 PM

crappy play calling throwing down the middle keeping the clock running

Droford 09-08-2011 11:48 PM

pass interference in the end zone on the last play

lol

RP 09-08-2011 11:49 PM

Great game

Droford 09-08-2011 11:50 PM

more stupid play calling..damnit

Evil Vito 09-08-2011 11:53 PM

lol what an idiotic play call. I don't care if you're on the 1, when you have one of the best QB's in football on your team and he's on fire, you throw it no matter what. Brees throwing it > trying to run it with 11 defenders stacking the line

awesome game though

Team Sheep 09-08-2011 11:53 PM

Some more priceless NFL drama. It's great to be back.

Emperor Smeat 09-08-2011 11:54 PM

The opener was great in terms of offense and how good Brees and Rodgers are but wow Saints D was horrible while Pakcers started to slack off near the end.

I bet the Chargers sort of regret letting Sproles go instead of trying to keep him after today.

 at the last play. I could see why a run was done to trick the Packers but they stacked the line so a pass should have been done instead.

Corndad 09-08-2011 11:56 PM

Brees is a dude. Don't understand that end of game play call but damn. Entertaining opening game.

Requiem 09-09-2011 01:15 AM

wow, what a game to open the season with. trying to snake Sproles for my fantasy league if nobody grabs him. got a couple players i can drop for some free room.

Evil Vito 09-09-2011 07:37 AM

Everybody place your bets for "jobber player to have a huge first game and get picked up in every league only to not do shit the rest of the year" guy.

Innovator 09-09-2011 07:42 AM

Rex Grossman.

Battlekat 09-09-2011 09:18 AM

That rookie Cobb from the Packers is one I could see people hopping on pretty quickly. Then he won't have another TD til like week 6 or 7.

I disagree. With GB playing Carolina next week, he'll get to return like 143 punts.

RP 09-09-2011 12:49 PM

That was a fantastic game last night. Really pumped for Sunday.

RP 09-09-2011 12:52 PM

I picked up Devery Henderson before the game. He had 6 catches, 100 yrds and a score. According to yahoo he was owned by 1 percent of teams.

But Lance Moore could be back soon.

I think that depends on if Deangelo Williams can get back to form. I also think the pickup of Greg Olsen and Jeremty Shockey provides some decent options for Newton. I see potential to improve a lot compared to that bum Matt Moore and Brian St. Pierre. Not enough to make playoffs or anything though.

Kris P Lettus 09-09-2011 02:04 PM

The Colston fumble and the stupid play action call on 4th down cost us the game.. Loving Darren Sproles right now.. All three of our main RB's looked good.. Was disappointed in these new "run stuffing" DT's (Rodgers and Franklin).. Also, even though Roman Harper is amazing at the line of scrimmage, 2nd in sacks amongst active DB's, he is getting torn up in coverage..

It was a fun game to watch and good to see the offense scratch and crawl their way back in.. Defense actually didn't look that bad.. Some of the throws/catches the Pack made were unreal.. Oh well, on to the Bears..

RP 09-09-2011 02:08 PM

I need info on Devery Hendo

I picked him up and started him yesterday. Very happy.

Kris P Lettus 09-09-2011 02:14 PM

Well, he was our deep threat until we drafted Meachum.. Kinda a 50/50 if it's a long route.. The only problem with using a Saints WR in Fantasy, Brees spreads it around so you never know who's gonna have a big day.. If I had played this year, I would have def gone after Jimmy Graham.. Henderson is a solid WR though..

Reavant 09-09-2011 02:16 PM

RP you got pretty lucky. With teams like the saints, theres no consistent receiver on the team game to game because theres so many that they get the ball spread too thin or another guy gets hot in the game. This happened to me with deverey a couple years ago where i picked him up a week after he had a monster game and he never even came close to that the rest of the year.

Kris P Lettus 09-09-2011 02:36 PM

RP, do you want the Colts to pick up Gerrard??

No. I've seen enough of him to know he's average at best. I want them to go get Warner, but I'm not completely out on Kerry Collins. I need to see him this week.

RP 09-09-2011 02:42 PM

Don't get me wrong. Garrard is a tough Qb. But he's not a good fit for Indy.

Kris P Lettus 09-09-2011 02:45 PM

It'd be pretty awesome if somehow y'all ended up with Carson Palmer..

Battlekat 09-09-2011 02:53 PM

Wonder what Favre is up to this year?

RP 09-09-2011 02:54 PM

The Browns would ask a shit load in trade for him cause they are stubborn, plus he'd be moving on next year so.

Man Tom Brady is lucky that he's like the greatest QB of all time, lucky that he has 3 Super Bowl rings, 2 time Super Bowl MVP, 2 time league MVP, Great looking, 2 kids, and married to the richest most powerful super Model in the World.

Otherwise that dude would have nothing going for him.

Can't see the Colts giving up what they'd have to give up for Palmer just for a temporary starter.

I think Seattle is most likely to end up trading for him. He's Pete Carroll's boy so you know Pete would be willing to overpay, especially since he's rolling with T-Jack right now.

Innovator 09-09-2011 03:44 PM

I def thought Reggie would end up in Seattle..

Looks like Plaxico's personal feud with Giants coach Coughlin hasn't ended because today he "trashed" Coughlin in an interview. Coughlin basically doesn't care about the feud between the two.

He also doesn't like Eli Manning but its more of him feeling Eli just ignored him while in prison unlike other Giants players at the time. Supposedly Eli is giving the excuse of him always being busy and the 1 phone call after Plax left jail as a good enough reason.

Innovator 09-09-2011 05:02 PM

Plaxico, let it go already.

Boomer 09-09-2011 05:27 PM

I don't think Sproles will do that well all season. He looked fantastic though; sad to see him do well after I've drafted him three years in a row (or something).

D Mac 09-10-2011 12:55 AM

I heard some people say Manning's entire career might be over.

FearedSanctity 09-10-2011 01:27 AM

Doubt it. From what Irsay said a couple other guys have had the surgery and gone on to play the next year. Think it more so comes down to if Peyton wants to at 35.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-10-2011 01:48 AM

Have you seen this nigga? He's gonna play till he's Terry Schiavo.

Skippord 09-10-2011 03:04 AM

sick topical reference Supreme

RP 09-10-2011 08:49 AM

I think the Colts have a monster chip on there shoulder right now. They've sat back and listened to everyone bury them for the last week. I've seen interviews with Freeny and Saturday and I've never seen them come off as pissed as they did. I think Freeney is going to have an amazing game tommorow.

I think the Colts are about to punk the Texans tommorow. I think Collins is going to be ok. Addai has had the best training camp/pre season of his career. I think he's going to be great tommorow. I think the Colts are going to get a early lead and then Freeney and Mathis are bringing hell with them. I also think Ernie Sims is going to lay some tone setting hits.

Colts are going to punk the shit out of these choke artists.

Evil Vito 09-10-2011 10:53 AM

lol knew Plax was gonna rip Coughlin at some point. So many former Giants have ripped Coughlin, and in doing so they come across as being nothing more than a bunch of whiny bitches that can't handle having a tough coach who actually forces you to work hard and practice.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-10-2011 11:41 AM

Thanks for that unbiased perspective, Big Vito 22.

Evil Vito 09-10-2011 11:52 AM

I'd say the same thing about any player that complained about a coach being "too tough". If I made millions of dollars a year I don't think I'd complain about having to practice...especially since the rule changes now don't even allow coaches to practice their players for more than two consecutive days.
