What is up with this Rumble rumour...

You know, the rumour that Chris Benoit will win the Royal Rumble... only to go on and face Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship? Of course this is only a rumour, but I think just the mere idea of it is stupid. Chris Benoit is just starting to find his main event niche on Smack Down, now they want him to be on RAW?

First off, I want to see Angle & Benoit lock up in the main event at Wrestle Mania XX! Secondly, Triple H is on RAW, and I just have a feeling Triple H will bury him, ala Booker T style. Thirdly, Chris Benoit fits well in the Smack Down side, and Smack Down so desperately needs a superstar to break through and create a stir.

I don't know, what are your opinions on this rumour?

Dunno if he is going to win it now but the plan is still for him to get the title from HHH. They might do something like him being screwed in the Rumble but then going to Raw to get their title. Makes no sense really since the build up has been he made Brock Lesnar tap out and was being held back by Paul Heyman. That booking makes sense for him to beat Lesnar at Mania.

Oh yeah, remember this - until the day of Mania last year, Booker T was meant to be going over on Hunter. Look what happened.

I've said this plenty of times, but HHH is going to be filming movies this year so we have a good chance of seeing Chris Benoit win the World title actually.

I agree that Benoit and Lesnar have a good fued going, but it has pretty much been known for months that Lesnar and Goldberg was supposed to happen at Wrestlemania. So why are you surprised?

As for Smackdown building new main event face superstars, John Cena is well on his way, and a returning Egde will help out greatly in that department also. Not to mention Eddie can be elevated to the top spot quickly I bet. Last year he was the most over guy on the roster. Smackdown will have to work a little bit to properly elevate these guys, but the three of them can definately carry the SD main event scene with Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle being the top heels.

I'd still rather have Benoit face Lesnar. They've been building a little chase angle for a while and it'd be awesome to see this technically long-standing feud climax at the big show.

Oh I definately agree that Benoit/Lesnar would be awesome for WMXX. I really want to see the two of them go at it actually. The fued has been built up great between the two of them, until sparkyplugg came in at least. But I knew it wasn't gonna happen(at WMXX at least) because of the Goldberg/Lesnar rumors that have been happening for months now.

I think that if HHH stays injury free until WMXX, him and Benoit will put on a great match. I am really trying my best to think positive about the WWE lately. Sometimes its not that hard to do, but sometimes *coughsparkplugcough* I have trouble not getting frustrated.

I'd like to see Benoit stay where he is though. He's really been entertaining, especially when in conjunction with Cena, of late.

if benoit wasn't number 1, then he would have a chance, but i can't see him winning it from number 1. It's going to be cena as the winner of the 2004 rumble

^ Mark. :p

Who knows? He might make history. First to go the full hour and more and win from the #1 spot. OR he might get screwed... either way, I'm really interested in the Rumble. This PPV has been built up extremely well on both brands (SD! more IMO... :D), and it's definitely going to be a great show.

It was only 1 minute between entries that year, so adding in the time after all 30 entered, I'd say he was only in around 40 minutes.

I would like Benoit to win the rumble, but i just don't hope he will be facing HHH, let him face Lesnar i liked what was going on between them. Or just let him face Angle that would be okay 2.

I dont mind seeing HHH vs Benoit as long as Benoit wins the title.

The way I see it SD has too many top faces as it is. Even with Kurt turning heel, you have Cena, Eddie, Edge and Taker that all should be at or near the top of the card.

My hope is that with Benoit going to RAW, that open the door for Eddie to get a chance with the WWE title. Then you can have Cena continue to build momentum and eventually win the title either late in 04 or at Mania XXI.

Meanwhile on RAW, they dont really have any over faces that haven't been killed except for HBK, who can only wrestle HHH so many timses. RVD and BT's stories have been told to death, so I wont get into that. But its clear RAW needs a new babyface. Plus, with Jericho's potential face turn, we'd get to see Benoit and Jericho in an alliance again, which would be cool.
