WWE Royal Rumble 2024
PUMPED!
Let's go Punk! |
I remember the days when PPV threads would go off.
|
Thought it was a good show overall. The Women’s Rumble was pretty good. Jordynne Grace and Jade Cargill looked like stars. Maxxine was even a little funny.
The four-way was fine. There wasn’t much drama because of the obvious outcome. Gave everyone some shine on Roman. He didn’t feel as crucial to this show as he does. Maybe that’s because he was on 2nd? Logan Paul is a fucking incredible talent. So much of what he does is perfect. This was probably my favorite Kevin Owens match ever. The Men’s Rumble was also fine. They didn’t make anyone look really stupid. It felt a bit less dynamic than the women’s though. Bron stood out to me. Surprised Shinsuke got such a nice reaction. I’m not totally in on this Cody story, but whatever. Punk really telegraphed losing, which was the point. Gunther is a great wrestler. There was nothing bad. Is it a show I am going to go out of my way to ever watch again? Maybe not. My gut tells me it was a B-grade show, maybe B-. You just generally feel good about the WWE’s general direction, but it isn’t necessarily the most exciting thing in the world. |

That finish and where Seth is currently with an injury... I'm suspecting a Punk heel turn leading into Wrestlemania. Bron Breakker is another awesome talent. Hope they change his name to Steiner if he's going to be on the main roster now. |
Logan Paul is perfect for wrestling.

Found the Rumble match itself really boring. Other than R-Truth, I can't really think of anything specifically that "happened". Just everyone coming in, getting a couple of moves in, and then they're either cut off, or they just drift into the background brawling. No overly exciting returns or surprises either.
I use the 2011 Rumble as an example, but that was so overly choreographed that it was perfect. Every single person had a "spot" and it included a number of on-going storylines throughout the match itself. It was perfect. Punk looked legitimately exhausted. Kinda sad to see. Great final four though. |
Cool with Bayley winning and Cody but if he loses 2 times to Roman that would be hilarious
|
I honestly can’t remember anything about the 2011 Rumble other than Del Rio and Santino at the end.
I think I’ll remember Bron Breakker’s stuff and Gunther being good. |
Both Rumble matches this year felt pretty dull for long stretches. Bron definitely shined. And everyone seems to really be behind the decision for Bayley and Cody winning, though.
It does seem like he will finish the story. But, there is doubt... |

Those highlights reminded me that the 2011 Rumble was a fun one, despite having the actual worst winner.
|
Noid pretty much spot on here.
Men’s Rumble was “functional”. Disappointed by the lack of legend/surprise entrants and the whole McAffee thing was pointless but I also understand that they have a lot of talent/storylines to service too. Quite liked how few tag team/lower card guys got in the match. Shame that recent events and injuries are causing them to pivot as what they potentially had on the table was shaping up nicely. |
If Rollins is good to go by then, we could see Rollins going against Drew for robbing him of his chance to end Punk once and for all. Drew goes over, only to get taken down by Señor Money in the Bank.
|
the problem with any cash in from priest at this point is that he has spent so long languishing with the case that he is entirely peripheral to the actual main event scene
like yeah ok he has a briefcase but he is still an upper mid-carder at best; feels like he's been entrenched there through multiple failed cash-ins and inexplicable missed opportunities it'd be a slap in the face for drew to go over and immediately get done to spring damian up when he's just. not that interesting |

you just gotta know where to go when the main site is down |

All the Rumbles 2003 and onwards blur save for a few things. I don’t think there’s a particularly compelling difference between 2024 and 2011 as a specific example. |
