NXT - first time I've watched in maybe 9 months...

Watching NXT for the first time in almost a year r/n (not including Takeovers or YT'ing random moments)

Authors of Pain I can see on main-roster one day. These four lady wrestlers all suck though...not 'good' or 'ready' in any way, shape or form.

Mr. Nerfect 02-15-2017 08:24 PM

Which are the four lady wrestlers?

Ember Moon

DIY and The Revival both seem like they should be on the main roster very soon

Hmm, I think that would be Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Ember Moon and...maybe Liv Morgan? Is she doing an obnoxious New Jersey thing but she's supposed to be a babyface?

Ember Moon is a likely candidate to win the NXT Women's Championship from Asuka at Takeover, I think. I was a big advocate for the WWE signing Royce and Kay, and I think they are better in the ring than their "characters" currently allow. They are playing bitch bullies who would get their asses kicked if separated. Their role isn't really to have stellar and competitive matches. They remind me of Ivory when she was being tossed around by Chyna.

I think Royce and Kay are main roster bound soon. I can see them doing their bitchy heel shit on SmackDown. Seems like Ryan Ward would like to have sex with them. Dogg-Dogg-Doggy-Style.

slik 02-15-2017 08:37 PM

Tyler Bate and Jack Gallagher could probably do the Vaudevillains gimmick better than the Vaudevillains.

I think The Revival are up once they play de facto babyfaces and die at the hands of The Authors of Pain. I think they'd be good on SmackDown where they can be foils for American Alpha. I think DIY are the challengers at Takeover Mania, possibly in a gimmick match. I think a Steel Cage would be a good fit if they've got some ideas.

Agreed.

slik 02-15-2017 08:44 PM

I think I hate this match

slik 02-15-2017 08:45 PM

This 'style' is so fucking slow...is all British wrestling like this?

I mean, an airplane spin, as a move, in 2017?

slik 02-15-2017 08:46 PM

Seems like British Style is like if someone said "What if we pretended it was 1979 but threw in a few suplexes of 2017"

Outside of Asuka, NXT's entire women's division is probably a year or two away from really being good overall. Moon and Cross are good enough to replace Asuka but the rest of the division is a bit weak because of the Draft gutting too many people from it.

Mr. Nerfect 02-15-2017 10:02 PM

Which of the women gained in the draft is really good though? Carmella? Nia Jax with her re-positioning to face the hard cam? Alexa Bliss and her re-positioning into Naomi's knees?

All have potential, don't get me wrong, but NXT didn't lose any great wrestlers in the draft. They'd just have more developmental girls.

Mr. Nerfect 02-15-2017 10:02 PM

I personally don't feel Ember Moon yet. I find Nikki Cross a lot more interesting.

EazyMack 02-15-2017 10:12 PM

I was sold on Ember Moon from the first time I saw her do that corkscrew stunner off the top rope. She's incredible!

The batch called up in the Draft could have used more developmental time but it mainly just gutted the tv ready women from NXT's division. Bayley leaving shortly afterwards didn't help even if she really should have been called up a lot sooner.

The next batch wasn't ready for tv yet and it showed very early on which is why the transition to them wasn't as smooth like with previous groups. Kay, Royce, and others have been improving since then but its also been a lot slower as well.

Slik style is just dull

Nicky Fives 02-16-2017 06:48 AM

They need to lump Emma, Billie & Peyton all together and give them a heel "Australians are better than you" gimmick.... could even throw in whichever of Blake & Murphy are Aussie as well....

Ultra Mantis 02-16-2017 10:55 AM

Trent vs Tyler was fantastic, dunno what Slik's deal is.

Authors of Pain are green as piss, they don't have any ring awareness whatsoever. I would bust both of them in the face with SPAM cans if they wanted to step in the ring with me

Anybody Thrilla 02-16-2017 02:20 PM

I like Billie Kay and Peyton Royce quite a bit. It might be because of Billie Kay's super dope theme song, though.

Can't wait to see Tyler Bate on the main roster putting Brock Lesnar in an airplane spin and then Michael Cole screaming "Lesnar is hurt you guys, Lesnar is hurt!!"

Danielson was doing the airplane spin on the main roster

#BROKEN Hasney 02-16-2017 04:49 PM

When is air plane spin week on tpww.net?

Haven't seen Ember/Athena since she went to NXT. But her indy work was damn good.

Every time I try to get back into NXT I remember why I stopped watching.Because I hate the Full Sail crowd. So tired of audiences that try all they can to be part of the show.

Hey Full Sail crowd no one is paying to hear whatever "witty" chant you come up with this time. Unless you are getting paid to be there you are not part of the show. Hell even if you are getting paid to be there, unless you are in front of the camera you are not part of the show. Get over it. If you want to be part of the show that badly go get trained. Or figure out a way to work behind the scenes.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-17-2017 02:18 AM

They are doing it to get the talent over. Where would Enzo and Cass be if the NXT Crowd didn't chant along with them?

DAMN iNATOR 02-17-2017 02:28 AM

Yeah. Not really a secret that fan participation is a major part of professional wrestling, and not just reactions to the guts and girls, but having the correct reaction (even though I've been guilty plenty of times of booing mega faces and vice-versa) to them is essential as well. If heels aren't getting their heat and/or the faces aren't getting their pops, then not only have the wrestlers and potentially the promoters and other people associated with putting shows together, along with the fans, have all failed in delivering a successful show.

This is just one tiny microcosm of why WWE is in such a massive slump these days.

They are also doing it to get themselves over. Wasn't there a "WE ARE AWESOME" chant in NXT in the last few years?

There is a huge difference between chanting for your favorite wrestler and trying to be part of the show.

Like that Raw after WM a few years back when the crowd started the WE are Awesome chant during a match. They were trying to get themselves over. And wanting to be a part of the show. If you want to be part of the show so bad go get trained or hell go do commentary at a local indy show. But most of the fat manchilds that try to get themselves over at WWE shows couldn't take a simple back bump much less what is required to be a wrestler.

Mr. Nerfect 02-17-2017 04:39 AM

The NXT crowd legitimately hurt the stars they are apparently trying to help. The fish bowl effect means that when the talent go up and there are crickets, no one has any clue what to do with them since it worked so well for a group of hardcores in NXT.

Eh, I think that throwing people together based on nationality is a bit thin these days. What are you going to do with three women in a faction too? As an Australian, I can also verify that there is no reason Australians should think they are better than anyone. Unless they do a "our beaches are better than yours" gimmick and just wear skimpy clothes all the time. But that's basically what The Shining Stars are doing.

Evil Vito 02-17-2017 08:47 AM

I would be all for Emma, Peyton Royce, and Billie Kay wearing as little clothing as possible.

Evil Vito 02-17-2017 08:48 AM

Australian PMS gimmick with Murphy being the new version of Meat.

Evil Vito 02-17-2017 08:49 AM

For the record, that would mean that he gets to make out with the three Aussie women on camera whilst also fucking Alexa Bliss in real life.

Pretty sure he'd be happy if I got signed to creative.

Enzo/Cass are one of the worst parts of RAW each week, obnoxious/overbearing

They are,but holy hell are they over with the NOn-IWC fans. Every show I goto I see at least 20 people with the certified G shirts.

When really Enzo/Cass are nothing but a new version of hte New Age Outlaws. Enzo is Road Dogg and Cass is Mr Ass.

PS how goes it Slik.

Never has an NXT Said "we are awesome." That was at two or three Raws after WrestleMania.

That would be Stephanie McMahon. Double points if it's Stephanie and Roman.
