Those nose of his provides exceptional padding.

Sean 11-24-2011 07:10 PM

Maybe if Ryan Miller had a comparable nose he'd be playing right now.

Bad news? Boyes is out "for awhile" joining Ennis, Kaleta, Weber, McCormick and Myers in the Press Box.

Its looking like someone from the AHL is coming up to join TJ Brennan and Corey Tropp in the big leagues.

Of course, all the fans are calmmering for Kassian.

I can't wait to see Kassian. We had him here in Windsor for Junior. Bit of a maturity problem, but Buffalo has some good vet that could take him under their wing: namely Gaustad. Similiar player although Kassian's upside is higher of course.

Debuts tonight in Columbus.

The problem is fans here literally think he is Tony Twist as a fighter.

People were saying "Bring him up for Boston just to fight lucic".

Dude can and will fight, but he is still a kid, and hes not an enforcer goon. No idea why the local idiots think that.

El Fangel 11-25-2011 10:04 AM

Probably one of my favorite players not in the NHL.

Buffalo has a really likable team tbh.

Probably because the only thing people outside of my city have heard about Kassian are his suspensions. That, and despite what the media claims, people love fighters and want their guy to be the best.

Emperor Smeat 11-25-2011 04:31 PM

Win streak snapped at 10 but the Bs kept the points streak alive with the OT loss.

Had a feeling if Buffalo didn't snap the streak then Detroit had the best chance due to the Bs haven't beaten the Red Wings the last couple of years.

Gertner 11-26-2011 01:07 PM

Leafs keep winning. Their offense is fantastic. Can't wait for Grabovski and Armstrong to come back.

El Fangel 11-26-2011 02:44 PM

I would want Reimer back before those two imo.

Gertner 11-26-2011 03:02 PM

All Toronto really needs is average goaltending. Gustavsson and Scrivens are holding down the fort well.

Yeah, they seem to be outscoring their goaltending issues recently. After Reim's injury I got a bit scared for them, but they seem to be holding strong. Monster's had a few inspiring saves recently.

In other news, I trade for Voukun in the fantasy league and he gives up five goals. My other ace goaltender is Kari Lehtonen, who was injured tonight. And with Reimer still out, that leaves Brian Elliot. If Elliot weren't outplaying Halak, I'd be royally fucked.

RP 11-27-2011 05:49 AM

Toews is on fire. Last 13 games, 9 goals, 9 assists, 18 points.

From TSN.ca

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Washington Capitals have fired coach Bruce Boudreau, who won 200 games faster than any coach in modern NHL history but stumbled regularly in the playoffs despite a talented lineup featuring two-time league MVP Alex Ovechkin.

Boudreau was replaced by former Capitals captain Dale Hunter, who was scheduled to lead Monday's practice and make his debut behind the bench Tuesday night when Washington hosts the St. Louis Blues to begin a three-game homestand.

Hired four years ago, Boudreau went 201-88-40 in the regular season with the Capitals but just 17-20 in the playoffs. This season he tried a new approach, emphasizing accountability and the willingness to bench his star players -- team captain Ovechkin included -- as punishment for subpar performances.

The Capitals started 7-0 -- a franchise record for consecutive wins to begin a season -- but have since slumped badly. They have lost six of eight, including a 5-1 beatdown Saturday night to a Buffalo Sabres team missing nine regular players. Ovechkin has only one goal in the last eight games.

The 51-year-old Hunter played for the Capitals from 1987 to 1999, the last five seasons as team captain, and is one of four players to have his jersey (No. 32) retired by the franchise. He played 19 NHL seasons and is the only player in league history with 1,000 points and 3,000 penalty minutes. His career total of 3,563 penalty minutes ranks second all-time.

Hunter has coached the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League for 11 seasons, compiling a 451-189-23-24 record. He became the fastest coach in OHL history to reach 300 and 400 career wins. Dale's brother Mark Hunter - who is also the Knights co-owner - will assume the general manager and coaching duties in London as per a team release.

Boudreau turned around a moribund franchise when he was hired in 2007, leading the Capitals to the first of four consecutive Southeast Division titles and winning the league's coach of the year award in 2008. Nicknamed "Gabby," he bought an offensive philosophy that meshed well with Ovechkin and the team's other "young guns" such as Alexander Semin and Mike Green, but he was never able to get Washington beyond the second round of the playoffs.

Boudreau had the team adopt a more defensive mindset during a losing streak last season, but it failed to pay dividends in the spring. The Capitals were swept by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round of the post-season.

Boudreau's assistant coaches -- Dean Evason, Bob Woods and Blaine Forsythe -- will remain in their posts under Hunter.
Wowsa! Dale is a money coach. Although he always said he preferred working with the kids. I expect big things. Super surprised at this move though, we hadn't heard anything in town about this.

Champion of Europa 11-28-2011 06:29 PM

Canes also fired their coach.

OssMan 11-28-2011 07:00 PM

Seems like the Caps have been waiting for the right time to fire him. This doesn't seem like the "right time" though, just a bad losing streak. JimmyMess where are U from

Nicky Fives 11-29-2011 08:52 AM

Glad to see Kirk Muller gets an NHL job..... Montreal should never have let him go.....

Kapoutman 11-30-2011 10:20 AM

I agree with Nicky Fives. Martin's system bores me to death.

Gertner 11-30-2011 12:48 PM

Trapping is the only chance the Habs have of winning.

Hanso Amore 11-30-2011 04:22 PM

Ducks scouts at the Sabres game last night, and there are reports they are working on a trade deal.

The Names Ryan, Getzlaaf and Selanne are getting thrown around.

I dont see any way they trade Getz or Ryan to the Sabres. But I would give them anything they wanted for Getzlaaf. Ryan too.

I imagine Selanne is coming East. Lets hope Parros comes with him.

JimmyMess 11-30-2011 07:57 PM

Selanne won't go anywhere because of one of his kid's medical condition.

Emperor Smeat 11-30-2011 09:42 PM

Back to first place for the Bs and another 5+ goal game the Leafs give up against them.

LoDownM 12-01-2011 03:15 AM

Boudreau gets fired on Monday and before the week is over, has a job again in Anaheim.

Gertner 12-01-2011 10:49 AM

Well the Leafs played well for two periods this time at least.

weather vane 12-01-2011 11:19 PM

Bruins can't be stopped babyyy

RP 12-02-2011 01:35 AM

Kane done at center. Makes sense. Toews, Kane and Stalberg is a leet line. Plus Sharp and Kruger have been playing great lately so putting them and Hossa together is great.

Worried about the Hawks tho. They've created no distance in the division and now both Detroit and St. ...wtf? St. Louis???? are right behind them.

RP 12-02-2011 01:38 AM

The Central division should not be a four team race right now. I feel like the Hawks should be up about five points .

RP 12-02-2011 01:42 AM

They should win these next four though against Islanders,Blues,Coyotes,Islanders again.

RP 12-02-2011 01:44 AM

I'm not sold on Corey Crawford.

MVP 12-02-2011 10:01 AM

He's heading for a sophomore slump.
