Sin Cara is the best

Well, not literally, but I do enjoy him as a talent. I liked Sin Cara Negro and Hunico for half a minute before they turned him into a racial caricature. I liked his bouncy springboard thing in the Ladder Match this year. I like how he's integrated some power moves into his style. I don't think he really suits the Cruiserweight Division.

He's been in quite a few backstage scraps and has apparently gotten heat for one of them recently being with a top star in Chris Jericho. While a push seems unlikely, if you were put in charge of reviving the career of Jorge Arias, the man currently under the Sin Cara mask, what do you do? This is just a spit-balling thread about the value of the gimmick, the mask, the performer in general, and general directions they could go.

I had the idea a while ago of a Heel Sin Cara. An over-the-top "I am a Mexican legend; I donate money to kiddies" gimmick. He gets a huge entrance, takes a few minutes getting into the ring and acts really overenthusiastic. Ultimately though, I think that's just shit.

Earlier today I was thinking of a gimmick where he plays both Sin Cara and Hunico, with "Former WWE Superstar" Hunico doing his own promo spots for how wonderful Sin Cara is. This would have to be a heel gimmick too.

If they put the rosters back together or moved Kalisto over from SmackDown or moved Sin Cara over to there, they could build to Kalisto vs. Sin Cara -- Mask vs. Mask. The WWE haven't done a stipulation like that in a while, and Kalisto claiming the mask of Sin Cara could lead to him working as a heel, just not in the street clothes and with the bike. Proper wrestling trunks "I'm a real person" Hunico.

I don't think there's a star there, but I think he could be a solid mid-carder. He hasn't really had a shot to connect with a mask that doesn't cover his entire fucking face. There was the Hunico run, I know, but that was always going to be a giant fuck.

Sin Cara defeated NXT Championship tournament semi-finalist, Jinder Mahal on Superstarst this week. A great win for a cruiserweight over a heavyweight.

I'd be all for a return of Hunico. Hunico ruled.

From a purely kayfabe standpoint it's kinda hilarious to imagine Sin Cara Negro and then regular Sin Cara both losing their masks and both times it winds up being Hunico.

Stickman 11-27-2016 07:09 PM

I am surprised there still is a sin cara. I thought it would've completely died down after Sin Cara vs Sin Cara.

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-27-2016 07:24 PM

I don't think he is the best. He's a shithead who starts fights. Hope he gets fired.

At this point, probably not much you can do with Sin Cara/Hunico especially with the way things have gone recently for him. Whatever value he has for the Cruiser division is going to drop now that more guys are showing up very soon for the division. Same for RAW's mid-card since its already pretty deep in terms of names and/or talent.

Maybe the WWE could have done more with the Braun vs Sin Cara min-feud but the WWE wasted a big chance on doing something big with him right before the brand split. Instead of just nonchalantly breaking up the Lucha Dragons, could have had Kalisto and Sin Cara feud as a way to turn Sin Cara heel or set up Hunico's return later. Even then, think he'd just be where he is right now for RAW in terms of status.

From a business standpoint I just see him as too much of a liability given his hotheadedness and other crap. I do think that an unmasked Hunico could be an interesting character creatively though. We've got plenty of masked luchadors running around in the WWE on and off right now. It'd be nice to see some variety in their Hispanic stars now especially with Del Rio gone.

I actually like that Hunico is a bloke that stands up for himself. By many accounts, the fights he's gotten into in the past have been the fault of the other guy. The only reason I think there is blow-back for this issue with Jericho is that it's Jericho. His veteran status and top guy level position means you gotta respect his authority.

As many have expressed -- those who know Jericho too -- this was nothing and just a case of boys being boys. I get that it's a publicly traded company now, but that's the sort of shit that makes wrestlers soft. I like that Sin Cara kinda doesn't give a fuck. I don't expect him to last much longer because of it, but I think that's a bit sad. Since both guys are professionals, I'd have booked Jericho vs. Sin Cara after I heard about the backstage interaction on RAW. Provided both guys were cool with it.

I'd probably build towards Sin Cara vs. Kalisto -- Mask vs. Mask -- for the WrestleMania Kickoff next year. It wouldn't deserve a main card spot, but I think it could be a good way to have two dudes who know each other pretty well carve out a niche and try and get people to care about them.

Sin Cara just seems kinda meh to me.

Kalisto is better.

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-28-2016 01:01 PM

It's the same poster Cesaro posted. It's generic.

Evil Vito 11-28-2016 01:13 PM

That's not generic. THIS is generic:
