Thor: The Dark World (Nov. 8th, 2013)

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7p7rocHEecE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "Marvel's The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

This is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 2 which includes Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man 3, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (TV), and ultimately Avengers: Age of Ultron.

It seems Thor's costume has been scaled back from the slight sci-fi aesthetics from the first movie to be more medieval, probably under the guidance of new director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones). I dig it, changes like that work with Thor.

Fignuts 09-12-2012 04:56 PM

Still looks pretty sci-fi like to me.

Which I'm fine with, since that's always been a part of Thor and Asgard's look.

Kalyx triaD 09-12-2012 05:25 PM

It seems more rusty and the geometry's been simplified, but the basic look is still there. The added waist flap adds to his torso in such a way that makes him seem even taller. I would love to see Loki now.

cardsharkrob 09-12-2012 10:51 PM

whats guardians of the galaxy about? never heard of that

Kalyx triaD 09-12-2012 11:03 PM

In short, Avengers in space. Or more appropriately, Firefly with superheroes.

Skippord 09-12-2012 11:17 PM

AND A FUCKING MILITARY GENIUS RACCOON

Kalyx triaD 09-13-2012 01:02 AM

Him too.

Kalyx triaD 09-13-2012 01:03 AM

The movie lives or dies by Rocket Raccoon. If the audience accepts him, Marvel Studios has nothing to fear.

Skippord 09-13-2012 01:07 AM

who wouldn't accept Rocket Raccoon? he's awesome

movie lives and dies on Groot

Kalyx triaD 09-13-2012 01:31 AM

People like Ents. LotR.

GROOT!

Fignuts 09-13-2012 01:49 AM

I dunno if I'd call gaurdians Avengers in space either, as they are a different class, and type of hero. Very different feel, but that's when I was reading the book. Haven't picked it up since Thanos Imperative, so I dunno who is on the team now.

Fantastic book though, btw.

Skippord 09-13-2012 04:00 AM

Groot kind of seems like a learning impaired Ent

I know very little about the Guardians of the Galaxy

Corporate CockSnogger 09-13-2012 09:00 AM

Chris Hemsworth has fantastic hair.

Rammsteinmad 09-13-2012 09:43 AM

That costume is sick. I'm really jealous of all these superhero actors who get to wear these fucking badass costumes. Hemsworth must feel like the fucking MAN wearing that.

dronepool 09-13-2012 01:02 PM

I'm not too familiar with Guardians of the Galaxy but nothing about them really makes me want to "look further". I do have a hardcover of Thanos Imperative from a few months ago I got because it was a good deal for a nice hardcover book and seemed like an interesting Thanos book that I will read one day. It's odd even though I like real life space and the cosmos, alien comic book space characters were always a hard sell for me, besides Silver Surfer and Thanos mostly. Just never had that urge to dive into it, but hey if GoG can be a fun movie, cool.

Lock Jaw 09-13-2012 01:41 PM

Marvel's space stuff was Awesome. Annihilation, Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy....

I am way behind on reading Marvel Comics though. I think I finished War of Kings, and that is where I left off with their space stuff.

The Destroyer 09-13-2012 01:45 PM

Yeah Annihilation onwards is excellent. I'm only just up to about the start of War of Kings just now, but it's all good.

I guess Malekith isn't one of Thor's worst villains, by any means. I just never cared for him.

Loved Kurse though, so I hope they do him justice.

Skippord 10-13-2012 03:15 AM

Mr. Eko is playing Kurse

so he'll be my favorite character in the movie

Fignuts 10-13-2012 03:20 AM

Mr. Ecko was also the best character in Oz as well. Forget his name though.

Skippord 10-13-2012 03:34 AM

Simon Adebisi apparently

really want to watch Oz

Ummm...from what BleedingCool is reporting both Groot and Rocket Raccoon might not get much attention in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

Sounds like the goal is to play up the Thanos connection to set him up for the Avengers sequel.

You should.

Fignuts 11-15-2012 01:38 AM

Gonna be honest. Compared to the frost giants, and the Chitauri, these guys don't look all that threatening.

dronepool 11-15-2012 01:41 AM

The first Thor was boring for a 3rd of the movie. I hope this new one is better.

Kalyx triaD 11-15-2012 02:43 AM

First Thor was awesome. It was about character. They had to play safe.

dronepool 11-15-2012 02:55 AM

I was never a Thor fan to be honest, I don't mind him- just not into the whole Norse thing. He's better on teams for me. But my main problem was I wanted more action on Earth and that was left for the last part. It's well done for sure, but I can't get drawn into it.

Kalyx triaD 11-15-2012 03:00 AM

Cool.

DaveBrawl 11-15-2012 08:33 AM

Thor was probably my favorite of all of the "Phase 1" movies.

The Destroyer 11-15-2012 09:57 AM

They'll probably get jazzed up in post-production anyway.

I am really excited about this movie. But have to wait for next year.

Kalyx triaD 12-20-2012 01:59 AM

Filming should be close to done. Hopefully we'll get a teaser soon.

VSG 02-03-2013 12:33 PM

Dr Who is portraying the main villain of the movie so this is automatically a hit in my books.

The Destroyer 02-03-2013 12:44 PM

Don't make me hurt you, VSG.
