Street Fighter X Tekken/Tekken X Street Fighter

Fuck these games.

Drakul 07-24-2010 04:33 PM

Doesn't look all that bad. At least the Capcom version.

No. Should have been Namco and not Tekken. Bunch of generic fighters, or PAC MAN in a fighting game?

With KOF/SF4/MvC3/SF3/BlazBlue, I do not need generic fighter x/devil generic fighter x in yet another fighting game.

 Nothing about this post was anything less than awesome.

Emperor Smeat 07-24-2010 05:17 PM

It sort of makes sense Namco just went with Tekken fighters since the game engine is based on Tekken.

Probably wouldn't control well if they included their Soul Calibur and other fighting game characters since those games use a different engine for gameplay.

#BROKEN Hasney 07-24-2010 05:34 PM

But we can see shotos fireball trapping a bunch of circus jugglers? Now that's a massive engine clash.

Kalyx triaD 07-24-2010 06:16 PM

Sort of wanted Capcom vs Namco, myself. What's done is done.

Looks like a liberal SF4.

Development on the game began just one or two months prior, said Ono, although they began real discussions about the project with Namco Bandai about one year back. Even prior to this, Ono said, he and Harada had talked about doing something together.

Capcom's past dealings with Namco Bandai appear to have contributed to the realization of this project. While joking that the main reason for the tie-up was that he and Harada are such good friends, Ono also pointed to Capcom's work with Namco Bandai on the Gundam arcade games.

The project began when Ono and his staff shared the idea with CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto Tsujimoto and software development head Keiji Inafune, who said that they should all go meet Namco Bandai. They ended up having no hurdles even at the top levels.

Getting into the game itself, the site asked Ono what we can expect as far as characters go. Ono would only mention the characters who were shown in the demo session: Chun-Li, Ryu, Kazuya and Nina. However, he added that they're currently thinking about putting in the early generation characters from each franchise.

Detailing the gameplay, Ono said that the staff is thinking about making the game 2 on 2. He joked that for someone his age, Marvel vs Cacom's 3 on 3 fights is just too much.

The basics of 8-way lever and 6 button input system won't change. However, Ono said that he'd like to add something that he referred to as an "assist" feature. He said the iPhone version of SFIV has somewhat of an answer to this desire -- a feature that lets players feel that they were able to do tough moves.

Regarding a release time frame, Ono said that the target is to release the game two yeas after its announcement. He expects the next timeframe for a major announcement to be next year's Captivate (a Capcom private event held every April in America). The reason for such an early announcement at Comic-Con was because Capcom wanted to do something for the fans.

Most of Ono's comments with the site concerned just the Capcom side of the tie-up. This version will likely come out first, said Ono.

Development on the two sides are being handled completely separate of one another. In fact, the staff has agreed to not share information between the teams. The Capcom side will be doing their own designs for the Namco Bandai characters, and the Namco Bandai side will be doing their own designs for the Capcom characters. They're also working separately on the gameplay side.

Ono joked that the Namco Bandai team would be none-the-wiser if the Capcom designers made Nina appear in the game naked, and likewise for Chun-Li in the other version. He also joked that they're interested in seeing which version will get rewarded a Platinum score in Famitsu.

"We'd like to challenge one-another in all areas, including sales, and get fans of both series excited," said Ono.

I agree with the first sentence, but I gotta say, I'd have preferred CvS/SvC company vs company set up, as opposed to game vs game.

Blitz 07-25-2010 02:02 AM

Yeah I will buy this (Street Fighter version anyways). Gonna be very interesting to see how they mesh the two styles.

Funky Fly 07-25-2010 02:14 AM

Getting both.

Drakul 07-25-2010 06:02 AM

Anyone else notice Ryu doing that strange "moving forward while I get up" thing you could do in Tekken at 0:49 of the gameplay video?

#BROKEN Hasney 07-25-2010 06:41 AM

Yeah, that along with more juggling than a fucking circus made me vom in my mouth a little bit.

Khuntry 07-25-2010 01:17 PM

now Tekken characters get to cross up, option select and juggle across the screen into the wall..... nice.

Khuntry 07-25-2010 01:20 PM

Was really pulling for (a possibly CvS like) Capcom vs Namco. oh well. This could be interesting though.

Kalyx triaD 07-25-2010 02:18 PM

Kazuya pulled Demon Slayer on Ryu. This is the new shit.

Kalyx triaD 07-25-2010 02:24 PM

Better here.

Oh fuck. Going to have to put up with hype for this for at least 2 years. That's how far away the Capcom one is, with the Namco one coming after.

*shudder*

Y2Ant 07-26-2010 04:26 PM

in theory, this is like the fighting game of my dreams, since i love both franchises so much.

dunno how it'll pan out though :o

:shifty:

Kalyx triaD 07-28-2010 11:47 AM

I don't see it.

RoXer 07-28-2010 07:46 PM

Kalyx, put all those pics in a spoiler tag. It crashes my phone's browser

Since it is by invitation of the TEKKEN team, I expect Harada to have various underhanded surprises planned. Knowing this, I still plan to participate in the event while overcoming any obstacles he may have planned so that I can show them what a real fighting game is all about. I'll also take with me the shaving oil I received from Hakan and the shaving razor from Vega so that I can erase that overgrown beard of Harada's, exposing that baby face to go with his childish actions. It should turn out to be a great party!

So I made a sudden appearance at their little event, handed out a few free games to gain favor, and delivered a challenge to Ono. Unfortunately, we weren't able to settle things at ComiCon but I'll face him again this time in Europe – at Cologne! Kayfabe, but I'm loving this.

Did I see a Bound?

Fignuts 08-19-2010 12:04 PM

I don't know what a bound is.

Funky Fly 08-19-2010 03:40 PM

video looks good. I saw Kazuya doing a cross up and Ryu doing some more-than-SF-style juggling.

An exaggerated bounce from Tekken 6 that extends juggling.

Kalyx triaD 08-19-2010 04:51 PM

Also, pretty cool Namco's making allusions to Jin/Devil Jin and Ryu/Dark Ryu. All I need to see is Akuma vs Kazuya and I'm good.

Hoped to see gameplay from Namco but apparently they're busy as hell.

BigDaddyCool 08-19-2010 05:01 PM
