Dumping Xbox 360. Getting PS3.

Honestly, I'm tired of paying monthly fees to play xbox live. That's really what my decision comes down too. Is anyone playing BF3, BOps, or MLB The Show on PS3?

CNM 04-21-2012 02:05 AM

The Show is awesome.

Mercury Bullet 04-21-2012 02:13 AM

I stuck with PS3 only for a long time for the same reasons, hated the idea that I had to pay EXTRA to use my games online. Its ridiculous.

But you know what, the quality of the online experience on 360 is exponentially better. I got a 360 and now pay for Gold and its the online console I use for online gaming.

LoDownM 04-21-2012 02:44 AM

I have Battlefield 3, Black Ops and MW3 on PS3, I just never play anymore.

CSL 04-21-2012 02:49 AM

top move

#BROKEN Hasney 04-21-2012 02:51 AM

Should really sell my PS3. Even modded, it's just gathering dust.

Kalyx triaD 04-21-2012 03:52 AM

XBL is premium but it's better in all aspects.

G 04-21-2012 07:25 AM

The entire PS3/PSN experience is awful compared to 360. You're paying for quality with Live.

CSL 04-22-2012 02:43 PM

I still don't understand that argument

LoDownM 04-22-2012 03:08 PM

I'd take PS3/PSNs "experience" over the current 360 dash any day.

CSL 04-22-2012 03:11 PM

I'd just like somebody to explain what it is that XBox Live offers that actually matters that it warrants actually paying for. Because outside of PSN being down during the hacking gimmick, I've never "wanted" for anything. Live subscribers have always come across as "well we have to pay for it so we're going to make ourselves feel better about that"

Tommy Gunn 04-22-2012 03:15 PM

I'd also like to know what makes Xbox Live better than PSN. Having used both, I don't notice any difference, other than one costing money and having an uglier dashboard / store.

Wehttam 04-22-2012 03:25 PM

i dislike the lack of party chat in ps3 games. thats about it. live just feels easier to stay connected with people and such

Kalyx triaD 04-22-2012 03:28 PM

I honestly don't know how to answer those questions. Not because I'm stumped, but it kinda floors me that one doesn't notice a difference of quality between PSN and XBL. It's like... what your idea of quality is and what you look for - these things equalize the two networks for you and it makes me feel like whatever argument I have wouldn't really matter. Essentially, "If you don't see how XBL is better than PSN than I don't know what to say to you." I really don't.

However, if you really don't see it or don't care and you're happy with PSN then keep on keeping on.

CSL 04-22-2012 03:36 PM

orrrrr you could just give an actual response because nobody takes gaming anywhere near as seriously as you do/may not notice such apparently huge advantages/have even really played on both networks/care about the smallest things as you might etc etc

Sepholio 04-22-2012 03:39 PM

PSN offers slightly less stability than XBL.....but it's free. And prettier.

The only argument I need for why it is better, really, is that it is free. I can go buy a game and come home and play online instantly for free. Whereas you pay the same price for the game and then have to pay a monthly fee on top of that to enjoy the multiplayer that I get straight out of the box.

That being said, XBL is definately a more stable experience, so in that respect it does somewhat justify being more expensive than PSN. I just don't see it being worth as much as is charged for it when compared to the free offering of its competitor. It may perform better, but not enough to justify its price.

Mercury Bullet 04-22-2012 04:32 PM

PSN's interface is better. XBL is just plain better overall though. Its more stable, gameplay is better (as in smoother, faster connections, etc.), you can chat with friends no matter what you are playing. I used to be totally against paying for it thought there was no way its worth it but games just play better through XBL than on PSN. For example I had MW2 for PS3 and got MW3 for 360. Gameplay on PS3 was laggy and at times dificult to even make a connection, there also is much more cheating of PS3. XBL gameplay for MW3 was smoother, easier to connect, less hacking and cheating.

If you can't explain it, maybe it's not really better at all.

Kalyx triaD 04-22-2012 04:42 PM

Sure, dawg.

 It's much easier to hack/cheat in games on 360 then PS3.

I don't know about any monthly fees, unless you're doing that over ponying up the $70 for the 12 month Gold membership. I've never had to pay extra to play any game online.

That's what they mean. You can buy the 3 or 12 month cards or you can pay monthly via credit card.

It breaks down to like $6 a month, and usually you can find free months of Live being offered in exchange for filling out a survey or some other random promotion. Plus it's not hard to find Live cards on sale for like half price.

DLC seems to come to XBL first.

I might write a book titled "The Entitlement of the Average Video Game Fan".

Are you going to cover the real thing, or that whole "the audacity to demand a product that is what was advertised" bit?

Miotch 04-23-2012 04:15 PM

If I were to really write it, both. I mean, the Mass Effect 3 ending would fall into both sides of that coin, for example. Comma.

Calamondin 04-23-2012 06:47 PM

I can only assume people loving on XBOX live is some sort of defense mechanism to justify being conned into buying what, on every other platform, is a free service. I have never noticed any quality difference between my XBOX and my PS3... besides paying $70 for one. Which is why I don't touch my XBOX unless I'm forced to with a 360 exclusive.

G 04-23-2012 06:51 PM

If you're paying $70/year, I can see why you're upset about it. :nono:

Kalyx triaD 04-23-2012 08:16 PM

I'd pay money for party chat alone. It is that important to me to have that kind of connection. The XB dash is shit (and I'm not too crazy about the PS3 dash either) but XBL is closest to my ideal online network for now (we'll see what the Big N has in store, don't expect much, though).

Also, any multiplatform game gets played on XBL as most my buds are there. And I'm currently most comfortable with the 360 controller. This is on top of the network working how I want so there ya go. Worth my money.

so this post was bollocks basically

Having a Kinect makes it all worthwile. :)

Ultra Mantis 04-24-2012 08:21 AM

So basically this whole "which is better" argument boils down to which console most of your friends have.

Yeah. Just bugs me when people confuse the two. Like, there's some annoying twats in the retake thing, but the basic idea is understandable.

Some things are actually better on the PS3, to boot. Like Netflix. I notice a slight quality difference, a definitely better interface, and...Oh yeah, that whole "not costing a dime to use on a second service just to use it" thing.

Pick ed up Arkham City and NHL 12 with my new PS3

G 04-26-2012 12:37 AM

My condolences.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-26-2012 12:55 AM

Not sure if I could justify switching system this late in the system game unless I got a really good deal on a ps3.

They're both going to be outdated soon enough anyways.

LoDownM 04-26-2012 01:17 AM

They've been outdated since the day they came out!!!11!!! - Typical PC Troll

I dunno. Paid 291$ for a 320 gig and AC, NHL 12 and the system came with Uncharted 3
