At the 27th annual SummerSlam, WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena will defend his title against arguably the most destructive Superstar of all time, Brock Lesnar.

Watch now: Brock, Cena sound off on The Biggest Fight of the Summer

The only man to have ever captured the WWE Championship, NCAA Division I Heavyweight Championship and the UFC Heavyweight Championship, the 286-pound Lesnar was selected to challenge Cena by WWE COO Triple H, who has guaranteed the Cenation leader will not leave Los Angeles as The Champ on Aug. 17. Just one week before announcing the blockbuster matchup, Lesnar advocate Paul Heyman — without mentioning his client by name — was seen offering Triple H a “Plan C” for assuring Cena’s title reign come to an end.

Now the match is official, and The Biggest Party of the Summer will be headlined by a main event between the unofficial Face of WWE and the Superstar responsible for breaking The Undertaker’s 21-year undefeated streak at WrestleMania.

Leading into their high-stakes SummerSlam clash, Cena and Lesnar have plenty of history between them. The two fought several battles during Cena’s rookie year in WWE, and the 15-time World Champion was Lesnar’s first opponent upon The Anomaly’s return in 2012. Cena used a steel chain and an Attitude Adjustment onto the steel steps to narrowly win that famous no disqualification duel at Extreme Rules, which has become legendary for its brutality and physicality.

Since his clash with Cena, Lesnar has run roughshod over competition, defeating the likes of Triple H, Big Show and, most notably, The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30. Also since April 2012, Lesnar has reenlisted the services of Heyman, who is widely considered one of the ring’s premier strategists. Will Lesnar make good on Triple H’s guarantee and continue his run of dominance at The Biggest Party of the Summer? Will the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match result in the "beating of a lifetime" for Cena, as Heyman says?

Or will the ever-inspirational Cenation leader, the consummate role model and embodiment of the motto “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect,” rise to the occasion, as he’s done so many times in the past?

Watch this historic match play out at SummerSlam, available live on WWE Network and pay-per-view Sunday, Aug. 17, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Could someone tell me how many times they've faced eachother and who's won how many times?

4 time and Brock beat the hell out of Cena in every one of them. The only match Cena won was in 2012

So it looks like they've had 5 1-v-1 matches and Brock has won 4 of them. Of course this was back when Lesnar was the bigger star and before Cena was the golden boy.

Here's hoping Brock wins tonight.

slik 08-17-2014 04:26 PM

I'm going to cancel my WWE Network Subscription after this ppv tonight...will give WWE until then to finally fix w/e makes Chromebook non-compatible with their Network...Feel like i've wasted $60.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-17-2014 04:29 PM

You have to use browser mode for it to work on a Chromebook.

How did you count 5 1v1 matches?

I see 4.

Because I obviously can't count FFS. Thanks for calling me out. :fu:

Sepholio 08-17-2014 05:09 PM

Seriously though, I was just reading the left column and how many times a single name was there when I made my count. The RR win for Lesnar is what threw me off.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-17-2014 05:18 PM

So this is the Pay Per View Rubber Match between the two tonight unless you count a Royal Rumble match.

Sepholio 08-17-2014 05:21 PM

pretty much

I'll try to lay the mod down while I'm hosting SS at my house. I hope something out of the ordinary happens tonight, probably won't.

I guess I'll watch this. Probably not renewing my Network sub though unless this PPV blows me away tonight.

Savio 08-17-2014 05:45 PM

It's like a 2 match card though.....for me anyway.

I would have to uninstall chrome os as the operating system of chromebook and install ubuntu over it. I would lose all my files, not going to go that route.

maybe I'll see if there is a cheap tablet that has google play sometime in the next week. Otherwise, it really sucks wwe didn't let people know before purchasing that chromebook and windows phones are not compatible. They mention it on their site NOW, but did not when the network launched.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-17-2014 05:46 PM

Why does something have to blow you away for 10 bucks? That's the same price as a cheap pizza.

road doggy dogg 08-17-2014 05:47 PM

Why do you care how I spend my hard-earned money?

slik 08-17-2014 05:47 PM

PPV should be good tonight

Here is what I'm thinking...

Pre-Show
Cesaro over RVD

PPV
Lesnar over Cena
Reigns over Orton
Wyatt over Jericho
Rollins over Ambrose
Rusev over Swagger
AJ over Paige
Stephanie over Brie
Ziggler over Miz

I think they thought people would connect the dots that if they didn't mention it was covered that it wouldn't be compatible.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-17-2014 05:53 PM

Just had some steak, potatoes and stuffing. Brock smash Cena tonight!

Sixx 08-17-2014 05:55 PM

This starts in what, 2 hours?

road doggy dogg 08-17-2014 05:57 PM

Is the preshow thing on at 7 or 7:30?

Savio 08-17-2014 05:57 PM

Preshow starts in an hour and a half

Corndad 08-17-2014 05:59 PM

Rollins and Ambrose are gonna steal the show tonight. The Lumberjack Stip scares me a little but that match should still be awesome.

Jericho/Wyatt if given time will be as good as well.

Reigns going over is almost a must to build him up at this point. No real reason for Orton to win that match.

My expectations are low for Brie/Steph but hopefully they surprise me.

I see Brock leaving with the Title but don't think will hold all the way to Mania next year. His schedule just doesn't combat with that. It would work a few months I believe but can't see it making all the way to Mania. Maybe Taker comes out to cost Brock title a few months from now, setting up a Rematch of the 2 at Mania 31 so Taker can get his win back and retire with a win? I'd rather not see that but could totally see that playing out.

Sixx 08-17-2014 05:59 PM

Meh. Not gonna sit here till 5 am watching streams. Probably gonna catch the first match and hit the sack.

Sixx 08-17-2014 06:00 PM

Waaaait, Cena vs Lesnar is 2nd? Is wiki lying to me again?

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-17-2014 06:16 PM

What if Punk comes back tonight to fuck with Lesnar/Heyman?

Shisen Kopf 08-17-2014 06:28 PM

I hope the ppv is good tonight and not a sucky pile of poop. I wanna see Summerslam not "bummer" slam!

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-17-2014 06:32 PM

Summerslam 2013 replay on network about to get to the Bryan/Cena match. Not sure if I want to watch this or not.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-17-2014 06:34 PM

Oh man epic HBK beard forgot about that.

Tazz Dan 08-17-2014 06:41 PM

I have it good authority that something worth seeing is going to happen tonight. Do not ask me for my contact, it's secret..... :shifty:

Damian Rey 08-17-2014 06:44 PM

YOU TELL US TAZZ DAN!

Got Miz and Swagger as winners instead but thinking the same for the rest.

I just read the last year's results and wow, Bryan beat Cena clean. Kinda shocking to me.

So how many people have actually managed to do it since he became the face of the company? Other than Bryan and The Rock?
