Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-13-2007 11:25 PM

wow BC #2?

mrslackalack 10-13-2007 11:48 PM

Possibly, although some analiysts believe USF will be #2 and BC #3 due to USF beating teams like WV and Auburn.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-14-2007 12:07 AM

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if BC wasn't the #2 team. They aren't the 2nd best team in the country, that's for sure, but that isn't really how the rankings work so who knows.

They got a huge match up coming up though, Thursday night at Virgina Tech

Like 3 weeks straight the number 2 or 3 team gets upsetted. Hopefully that continues until V-Tech is in the BCS Championship.

mrslackalack 10-14-2007 11:05 AM

Looks like 2 1 loss teams might be in the NC game because Ohio St, BC, and USF while unbeaten still has the toughest part of their schedules left

mrslackalack 10-14-2007 11:06 AM

Yeah the first set of BCS Rankings come out this week as well and thats the poll that truely counts.

mrslackalack 10-14-2007 11:26 AM

New AP Top 25 Poll is out

AP Top 25

1. Ohio State
2. Boston College
3. South Florida
4. Oklahoma
5. West Virginia
6. Oregon
7. LSU
8. South Carolina
9. Kentucky
10. USC
11. California
12. Arizona State
13. Virginia Tech
14. Kansas
15. Missouri
16. Florida
17. Auburn
18. Hawaii
19. Texas
20. Cincinnati
21. Michigan
22. Tennessee
23. Wisconsin
24. Texas Tech
25. Virginia

I think the suprises there are

1. Almost every1 predicted USF to jump BC but it didnt happen
2. USCs loss to Stanford was very bad last week they didnt even jump in the polls
3. Michigans finally back in the top 25 after their miserable 0-2 start
4. All the remaining unbeatens are in the top 25 now, even though teams like Hawaii, Ari St, and Kansas havent played the toughest part of their scheudles yet
5. That Wisconsin hasnt fallen out of the top 25 after losing to Ill and then getting hammered by Penn St.
6. That Penn St didnt crack it yet they destroyed Iowa and Wisconsin back-to-back weeks
7. The 7-8-9 part of the rankings. LSU can claim to be ahead of South Car because they beat them, South Car can claim to be ahead of UK because they beat them, but UK can claim to be ahead of LSU because they beat them,

Mercury Bullet 10-14-2007 12:27 PM

2008 National Champions, University of South Florida.

Get ready for it.

Mercury Bullet 10-14-2007 12:31 PM

I think the best one loss teams are Oklahoma and Oregon. And if they both win out, and the undefeated's drop a game, that will be the National Championship.

mrslackalack 10-14-2007 12:58 PM

I consider LSU a great one loss team still MB, but I agree on the OK and Oregon scenarios, they had both of their games where they lost won but blew it at the end.

Mercury Bullet 10-14-2007 01:14 PM

Yeh LSU is still great, but losing later in the season as opposed to an early loss will probably keep them behind.

RP 10-14-2007 01:30 PM

I think OU is the best team in the country.

mrslackalack 10-14-2007 01:52 PM

My Midseason Awards

Heisman- Prolly the most wide open ever at this point in the season, I gotta go with UK QB Andre Woodson right now over BC QB Matt Ryan

Best QB I pick Woodson again, but Ryan, Harell, Brohm, or Brennan among a couple others are in it as well

Best RB I gotta pick Darren McFadden of Arkansas even though hes been a minor dissapointment this season due to misused and injuries. Mike Hart, Steve Slaton, and Ray Rice have to be considered as well

Best WR Def DeSean Jackson IMO

Coach of the Year- I think this is as hard as the Heisman Race, I say a tie right now between Rich Brooks of UK and Jim Levatt of USF

Agree on you with the Heisman, Best QB and Coach picks, don't know much about the RBs this year, However, gotta be careful, cause UK WR Steve Johnson has been makin' things happen lately the way he is helping them get come from behind victories.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-14-2007 03:30 PM

Will you both shut the fuck up with the Kentucky homer bullshit? "Oh I think Kentucky players should win all the awards." "Oh yes I agree. Kentucky is the best." Shut the fuck up.

If Jim Leavitt doesn't win coach of the year, which he should, then Jeff Jagodzinski from BC should win it. Woodson is not going to win any awards. He shouldn't even get invited to the Heisman ceremony. And what the fuck Steve Johnson? Are you fucking kidding me?

BCWWF 10-14-2007 06:39 PM

Rankings are stupid. There's no logic behind them. No. 11 Missouri loses by 10 to No. 6 Oklahoma - a match OU was favored by 10.5 - yet Missouri drops four places in the rankings? How did they get worse, they did exactly what they expected to. Basically, you just take the preseason rankings, move a team down five every time it loses and then go with it. They should undo the preseason polls, IMO. This year shows, it is just way too fucked up.

Mercury Bullet 10-14-2007 07:10 PM

The preseason polls really are terrible and worthless, I don't think they should do them. You have no idea how some of these teams are going to turn out and ranking them before they ever play is senseless.

BCWWF 10-14-2007 10:22 PM

I'd have nothing against ESPN or something doing them for entertainment, but USA Today, AP, Harris etc. shouldn't until week six.

mrslackalack 10-14-2007 10:24 PM

I agree because sometimes they are way off on them. I remember Bama being preseason ranked #3 in the country several years ago and they finished 3-9. I also remember the 05 Purdue team being a top 5 preseason team and one publication even had them in the National Title game against USC and they ended up going 5-7. Its the same for CBB as well.

BCWWF 10-14-2007 10:29 PM

Wisconsin this season. They didn't lose, so the arbitrary way the rankings work they moved up to No. 5, but everybody knew they weren't that good and was waiting for them to flop. Then they do and they drop 15 spots. If people know they aren't good, they shouldn't be obligated to vote for them high just because they were voted high preseason and haven't lost yet. Like when USC and Texas were real good two years ago, people wouldn't admit that Texas was better because USC hadn't lost. Why does USC have to lose?

BCWWF 10-14-2007 10:29 PM

Stima, back me up on this.

mrslackalack 10-14-2007 10:51 PM

I agree Hawaii is fun to watch IMO but they are def overated with their weak schedule. Most BCS teams would blow out La. Tech and San Jose State this season yet It took Hawaii close OT wins to defeat them.

mrslackalack 10-14-2007 11:05 PM

Looking at the current BCS top 10.

1. Ohio State- Dont have a major victory but some decent ones (Purdue, Washington) Have a winnable schedule left to go unbeaten
2. South Florida Have 2 big wins (WV, at Auburn) Still have some tests left against Rutgers, Cincy, and UL
3. Boston College- Have looked impressive so far but still has the meat of the ACC left.
4. LSU- If they go unbeaten and 2 of the top 3 fall the LSU is def in the title game. They have 3 giant wins (South Carolina, VT, Florida) Their rest of the schedule is SEC West Matchups all the tough ones are at home except Bama. SEC Title game if they make it will be a test as well.
5. Oklahoma- They have a easy road left IMO impressive wins over Texas and Miami help OK, the Colorado upset hurts them though if other teams finish out impressive like them.
6. South Carolina- Nice wins vs Georgia and Kentucky. They still have Florida and Tennesee to play. South Carolina right now has the best postion to represent the East in SEC title play with getting Ws there.
7. Kentucky- LSU win was HUGE for UK. They also have beaten UL and a Ark on the road. Still have 3 very tough games however Florida, Tennesee, and Georgia on the road.
8. Arizona State- Great job they have done this season, but I think they will fade out when they start facing the upper echolon of Pac-10 teams.
9. West Virginia- USF loss hurt, but WV can climb up the rankings with Ws against Rutgers, UL, and Cincy.
10. Oregon- Loss to Cal was heartbreaking but with the unpredictable Pac-10 who knows what will happen with Oregon.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-15-2007 02:17 AM

Boise State 69
Nevada 67

nice

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-15-2007 01:20 PM

South Florida and BC will both lose before the end of the season.

LSU will then go on to win the SEC title and finish #2 in the BCS. Then they will face OSU in the title game, where they will win and win big.

Hopefully Ohio State loses at some point so somebody else will be in that game, cuz if not LSU's speed is going to destory Ohio State. Would be hilarious if Michigan beat them, can't see it happening, but hopefully it does.

Nervous Ferret 10-15-2007 08:47 PM

yeah seeing an OK/LSU title game here :-\

RoXer 10-15-2007 10:23 PM

Please tell me someone saw the UofA punter blasting it 83 yards.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-16-2007 12:12 AM

yeah like I'm gonna spend my Saturdays watching Arizona football

I'd rather watch the MAC

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-17-2007 01:12 PM

South Florida has beaten WVU and Auburn at Auburn, yet they aren't #1?

BC I'm fine with not being a top team since they haven't beaten anyone yet...If they beat Virgina Tech at Tech then I'd say they deserve some consideration. Right now though I don't think they deserve it

mrslackalack 10-17-2007 11:26 PM

Great point Stima. So Fla has beaten a very good WV team. The Auburn win lost some prestige at first after they lost at home to Miss St. but soared back up with their huge road wins at Florida and Arkansas. They also destroyed a UCF team that came very close to beating Texas. On the road against Rutgers is a big test since Rutgers beat them last yr but its winnable since Rutgers lost at home this season to Maryland and Cincy.

Innovator 10-18-2007 10:29 PM

USF 17 Rutgers 27 3rd quarter

mrslackalack 10-18-2007 11:28 PM

Its been a good game so far.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-18-2007 11:35 PM

Wow BC gonna be moving into the #2 slot

mrslackalack 10-18-2007 11:41 PM

Never know BC might be #1 Stima. Ohio St plays Mich St this week and we know Mich St has upset OSU when they were #1 before 9 years ago.

SammyG 10-19-2007 12:00 AM

that was a good game.

RP 10-19-2007 03:58 AM

I hate to ruin this Boston Tea Party, but BC wont beat Virginia Tech in Virginia Tech.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-19-2007 10:42 AM

I don't get why everyone is making such a big deal about the game being in Virgina Tech. BC has won there before with teams that aren't as good as the one they have now. Personally I think BC could very easily lose this game, since they are due for a loss, but they could just as easily loss this game if it was here in Boston. The whole 'being in Virgina Tech' thing is dumb, since I think back to 2 other times when they've won there in like the last 5 or 6 years.

They're due for a loss sometime, I don't see this as an undefeated team, but I also don't get why they should lose to VT because it's in VT.

Now, VT is a good team, that's a reason to lose, my guess is they beat VT, and eventually get upset by Clemson in Clemson.

Here's a question.

OSU runs the table
BC runs the table
LSU finishes with just that 1 loss and a few blowout wins.

Who faces OSU? BC or LSU?
