Herbie has stated before a one loss SEC Champ will prolly get in over a unbeaten BC or even Ohio St. With LSUs case they have 3 major wins against South Carolina, Florida, and VT. Their only loss was in 3 OTs against a very good UK team. The rest of LSUs schedule is basically the SEC west which out of the top teams there they get Auburn and Ark at home and Bama on the road. I say the ONLY way BC gets in over LSU if both went unbeaten the rest of the way is if BC totally destroys the ACC competion in their games which I just dont see right now.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-19-2007 12:10 PM

If BC goes undefeated and gets left out of the BCS title game it'll be a crime. They're a BCS conference team. How can you go undefeated in a BCS conference and not get a chance to play for the national title? "Oh, but the ACC is weak and Boston College should be punished because the established order in the ACC are all having disappointing seasons." Oh, then maybe you should fix your shitty postseason system.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-19-2007 12:37 PM

Yeah I agree with Supreme, I mean would LSU would be the better team? More than likely, however that isn't how it works in college football.

I don't think BC is gonna run the table though, they will lose somewhere along the line. At first I really thought it was gonna be against Va Tech but this whole "Nobody wins in Death Valley!!!" thing is starting to make me think it isn't gonna happen now. I wouldn't be surprised to see BC lose to a team like Maryland, probably the least likely team to beat them out of their remaining opponents. At least that is what always happens, hopefully with this new coaching staff it won't.

mrslackalack 10-19-2007 12:47 PM

Some type of postseason (plus 1, 8 team playoff etc.) could easily work for CFB if they wanted to do it.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-19-2007 02:13 PM

BC's schedule isn't even that weak. If they run the table that means they'd beat Virginia Tech most likely twice, Florida State, Clemson, Miami, and Maryland who all have winning records.

MTH15 10-20-2007 10:30 PM

Did VT and BC even play yet. I know what you guys are thinking. "What an idiot" but seriously did they

RP 10-21-2007 10:21 AM

If BC and OSU run the table. I dont think either should be in the National Title game. I understand.. they're undefeated, but OSU has played two ranked teams this year. Purdue and Washington and both of these teams dont deserved to be ranked anymore.

If these two teams were in a 16 man playoff format, i dont think either one makes it past the 2nd round. Florida, UCS, LSU, OU, Oregon, Auburn, South Carolina, Cal, and West Virginia are all better then those two teams imo. I'm not knocking either one of those teams, i'm just saying, the rankings and the undefeated schedule remaining are a farce. OSU hasnt played anyone this year. I think the best team they played was Washington.

OSU has played..

Youngstown State W 38-6 --
Akron W 20-2 --
at Washington W 33-14 --
Northwestern W 58-7 --
at Minnesota W 30-7 --
at (23) Purdue W 23-7 --
Kent State W 48-3 --
Michigan State W 24-17

BC's schedule...

Wake Forest W 38-28 --
North Carolina State W 37-17 --
at (15) Georgia Tech W 24-10 --
Army W 37-17 --
Massachusetts W 24-14 --
Bowling Green W 55-24 --
at Notre Dame W 27-14

Comon. You think these 2 teams deserve to play in the National Championship game? LSU are playing juggernuts every week. Florida has played Auburn, Kentucky, LSU the past 3 week and they're playing Georgia next week. They have 2 lossed but still. Theses teams are playing top tier teams every single week. Anyone with half a brain can realize that these teams are so much better then BC and OSU. Its not even close. If you watch the games, the talent is so obviously tilted in favor of the other teams then it is in favor of BC and OSU.

Listen, if you wanna call them two the national championship game participants at this point because of there undefeated schedule, then fine. But anyone who knows a lick about college football, knows that theres probably a good 10 teams better then those two teams right now.

The rankings are a joke. Deciding a national championship using the rankings are a complete joke. You need an example?? Here you go. Arizona St got a #1 vote in last weeks rankings. Yah...

Oh yah, Les Miles has really nice balls. I like his balls.

ANd i'm calling it right now. I think LSU will jump BC in the BCS today.

Kris P Lettus 10-21-2007 10:24 AM

LSU can not lose another game..

Last night was too close for comfort..

Mercury Bullet 10-21-2007 12:50 PM

While I think LSU will eventually jump BC in the BCS polls, I don't agree with it.

Undefeated is Undefeated, especially amongst the BCS conferences. Sure, some play tougher schedules than others. But theoretically, they are all opponents of 'BCS' caliber. So again, any undefeated team should go in over a one loss team.

Kansas is undefeated but they still haven't played anybody, and really don't all year. Nobody in non-conference and they miss Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech, the three best teams in the south.

A couple of things:

-if that is the case, Bosie State should have made it last year.. Are you kidding me??

and

-Auburn went undefeated a few years ago, playing the SEC schedule, and didn't make it..

The BSC is bullshit..

RP 10-21-2007 08:08 PM

Arizona St is undefeated and if they remained undefeated, theres no way OSU or BC should get in over them. They have USC, CAl and Oregon left.

Mercury Bullet 10-21-2007 08:49 PM

If Arizona St. finishes undefeated, they should definately be ahead of BC and OSU. They should be #1 if they win out.

As far as Auburn goes, they were the 3rd undefeated team, so SOMEBODY had to be left out. Can't have a triangle match in college football. Thats where the BCS rankings would more logically come into play, when there is more than two undefeateds.

I don't know about Boise St., I have mixed feelings. Undefeated, yes. And I know I said "undefeated is undefeated" but I was thinking more along the lines of the power conferences. I don't know what to think about that one.

mrslackalack 10-21-2007 10:53 PM

I def dont see Kansas and Ari St going rest of the season unbeaten.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-22-2007 01:01 AM

Is BC the 2nd best team? No way, but that isn't how the system works. If a team in an BCS conference goes undefeated they have to be in the BCS game (Well unless there is more than one obviously)

The system is garbage but thats how it is. If BC runs the table there is no way they will fall outta the top spot. I don't BC will do it, but you never know.

I think the Auburn thing a few years ago was because of the preseason ranking which made it harder to climb back. They also played the little children of the poor in their outta conference games. Still bullshit though cuz the SEC is so tough they shoulda been anyways. That was the year Oklahoma got destoried in the Big 12 championship but went anyway?

BCWWF 10-22-2007 09:38 AM

I think it was the year after. When Oklahoma lost to Kansas State in the Big 12 title game was the year that LSU and USC shared the national title.

mrslackalack 10-22-2007 10:02 PM

yup

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-22-2007 11:32 PM

Oh was that the year Oklahoma, USC, Utah and Auburn all went undefeated?

BCWWF 10-23-2007 06:48 PM

No.

OU, LSU and USC all had one loss but OU and LSU were in the Sugar Bowl (Nat. Champ)

Then the next year
OU, USC, Auburn and Utah went undefeated, but since everybody had been bankning on the OU-USC Orange Bowl, Auburn never had a chance.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-23-2007 07:34 PM

My point is what else can BC possibly do? They joined a conference that's supposed to be one of the best in the nation and it isn't, but they can't help that. All they can do is go play the schedule they are forced to play.

You can speculate all you want that LSU is better than BC, but that's just opinions and not facts. What are facts are the 1 in LSU's loss column and the 0 in BC's. If LSU wanted to play in the national championship they shouldn't have lost.

mrslackalack 10-23-2007 10:02 PM

Plus LSU took a HUGE risk with the GW TD against Auburn.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-24-2007 06:08 PM

A lot of people are saying BC has no shot tomorrow and I don't really understand why...They smashed Va Tech last year and BC is a lot better now then they where last season, plus Tech might have to go with Glennon tomorrow night who was just recently benched in favor of a freshman

Rain Man 10-24-2007 08:53 PM

Haven't posted in probably 2 years, so excited to be back.. Don't have much to say for now but FUCK THE BUCKEYES!

mrslackalack 10-24-2007 10:35 PM

UL did get robbed on that fair catch TD against UCONN last week.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-25-2007 09:10 PM

This rain is really gonna affect BC's offense...gay

mrslackalack 10-25-2007 10:28 PM

BC has 10 minutes to turn it around

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-25-2007 10:28 PM

Their offense isn't doing dick tonight...I think this one may be in the books unfortunately

Also that wasn't a TD by Eddie Royal

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-25-2007 11:07 PM

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-25-2007 11:12 PM

I can't fucking believe this....WOW what a game

mrslackalack 10-25-2007 11:14 PM

WOW THAT WAS EVEN BETTER THAN DALLAS/BUFFALO

Nervous Ferret 10-25-2007 11:16 PM

^lol

mrslackalack 10-25-2007 11:24 PM

HEARTBREAKING LOSS by VT. I thought BC took some huge risks there by using timeouts and going for the TD instead of moving the ball to send it to OT but WOW!

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-25-2007 11:27 PM

Their kicker isn't exactly lights out, plus Matt Ryan had a Heisman to win tonight

redoneja 10-25-2007 11:38 PM

I go to school near VTech, so alot of people I know are fans of theirs. I can't stand them, at all. SO glad they blew it tonight. I told my roomate that it looked like the BC offense decided not to play until the last 3 minutes of the game. Bad call by the officials on that Tech touchdown, but it doesn't really matter in the end.

Bet that Tech receiver who lost the onside kick is feeling pretty bad right now though.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-25-2007 11:40 PM

I can't believe they scored, had it called back on a holding call then scored again

Doug Flutie was the fucking man during the broadcast as well

mrslackalack 10-25-2007 11:42 PM

He prolly earned it now if he continutes at this pace. If BC wins the national title they will always talk about this crazy comeback they had.

redoneja 10-25-2007 11:44 PM

I thought Matt Ryan was going to fuck it up after he started scrambling deep into the backfield on that 2nd and 3rd down. Great come-from-behind from BC.

mrslackalack 10-25-2007 11:55 PM

Puts more pressure on Ohio St to win because Penn State usually gives them a game on their home field.
