Yeah, part of the reason Taichi got so much hate for so long was because of a similar situation. It's considered very dishonorable.

But it seems they only get uptight about this sort of stuff if it involves Japanese people. They don't care about stuff like the Michael Elgin incident because they don't uphold gaijin to the same ethical standards. |
How exactly would they "force" him to work without pay for a year though? That sounds an awful lot like slavery lol.

Revival time!
Here is the Observer 2021 Awards... and the winners are! Quote:

If Kenny Omega is the best wrestler in the world and Young Bucks are the best tag team, it’s officially the worst wrestling timeline.
|
Lol, the Observer Awards are a bunch of shit.
|
Pat McAfee is both 4th best and 7th worst announcer in wrestling. They are inherently stupid. And they’ve voted on by marks who don’t have a clue.
|
They're at least right about Stardom beating out NJPW. Fucking Gedo must have gotten a lobotomy after omega left.
|
Do we REALLY need awards by a guy who gets paid by Tony Khan, and the voters are limited to the biggest Marks ever who actually give this guy $12 a month?
This shit is less important than the TPWW awards  |
How the fuck did Mox beat Buddy Rogers, let alone by HUNDREDS of votes? If you want evidence that Observer subscribers are not the best critical readers, there you go.
And this seems like a weird thing to pick out, but how is Happy Corbin anywhere near the worst gimmick? It’s the most enjoyable Corbin has ever been. Also, lol at TK being either the best promoter or best booker of the year. Vince McMahon delivered record profits for his company. Isn’t that the role of a promoter? |
Look at these marks getting worked.

Those awards were shit.....but I am completely okay with The young Bucks and Penta/Fenix having match of the year in that steel cage match. It was definitely match of the year.
|
lol @ Kenny Omega/Adam Page feud of the year..... never before had I been just so disinterested in a world title match because of the lackluster build they gave it.
|
Tony Khan is promoter of the year again you guys. What is that, 3 years running? Eventually they will have to name the awards the Tony Khan Award for Excellence in Booking!

I might be wrong, but that does not seem right  |

Those awards seem like they written to get a rise out of Noid/xrod/Rick. Job done.

AEW is the highest grossing pro wrestling company of all time except for WWE.

I could go spend a bunch of money buying PS5's, then sell them for $50. I would be the highest grossing independent PS5 seller of all time. Doesn't mean I wouldn't be losing a ton of money. |
I don’t think Jordan was being serious. But you had to bite. Maybe that’s where some of that error in perception comes from.

Sometimes I sarcastically agree, sometimes ill throw out a dumb analogy, but its all good fun. |
Let it be known, I do love AEW and hope for it success. I see it's flaws though and they can be glaring.

I would actually say Stardom has been the best booked promotion in the past year. Which, kind if ridiculous to think that a company that aggressively targets perry old men as a part of their demographic would be the best booked company, but as Sting Fan said, look at the competition.
Also, consider how they got here. Several top stars retiring a couple years ago, followed by the Hana Kimura suicide, who was on track to be their next big star. And all that happened shortly before the pandemic hit and butchered their business. But they've been so effective at bringing in new talent while elevating younger stars that they've prospered regardless. It's very admirable. |
