question about guys in squash matches..

has there ever been an instance where they had these no name jay-brones involved in one of these squash matches actually win, or put up a great match? i know the whole point of these are to get the one guy over by destroying some pisshat..just curious if there has ever been a squash match, or person who belongs in a squash, win, or do good..

Gillberg and Brooklyn Brawler but they were both 'name' jobbers.

CSL 04-15-2012 06:44 PM

James Mason (britwres guy) went over MVP on the UK Smackdown taping during his losing streak gimmick a few years back

1-2-3 Kid...

itsmeJD 04-15-2012 06:50 PM

Also, Barry Horowitz against Skip back around 1995.

Cena was a no-name turd when he wrestled Kurt Angle. Now he's just a turd.

don't really think guys that are actually under a contract doing well in a perceived squash match as a way to get them recognized should really count

Unfortunately these rules weren't specified at the start of the contest so no take-backs.

Way back when in NWA/WCW there was a tag team of brothers, called the Mulkey Brothers, who were always squashed and they won a few matches against a big tag team, whom I can't remember.

I think Goldberg VS Hugh Morris was meant to com across as a jobber squash match (goldberg being the assumed victim in order to enhance the surprise and appeal.

If thats what you mean

As far as doing amazingly well in the match but still losing goes Al Snow vs Triple H comes to mind

Ultra Mantis 04-16-2012 05:38 AM

Jimmy Jacobs is undefeated in WWE squash matches, despite never delivering an offensive maneuver.

Big Vic 04-16-2012 11:42 AM

Snitsky was supposed to get squashed by Kane on his debut.
Gunner Scott beat Booker T when he was supposed to get squashed. He didnt last long in the WWE after though.

Referring to his match with Eddie Guerrero, who brainbustered him onto the floor.

Gertner 04-16-2012 06:06 PM

David Sammartino had an infamous loss where he was pissed at the WWF and jobbed on purpose vs Ron Shaw.

weather vane 04-17-2012 12:04 AM

Either way, it wasn't Snitsky's fault.

GD 04-18-2012 10:54 PM

Gene Snitsky and Gunner Scott come to mind.

Goldberg vs. Steve Regal, I think that was supposed to be more of a squash match, but instead Regal just chain-grappled Goldberg making him look shit and then got fired.

Theo Dious 04-19-2012 09:31 PM

When Jake Roberts was in the feud where he got blinded by Rick Martel, he took a loss to a jobber named Tom Stone when he "came back too early."

To be fair, Regal just wanted to see how legit Goldberg was.

CSL 04-19-2012 10:44 PM

that's not the story Regal tells about it

I know, but it was just the way I see it.

JimmyMess 04-20-2012 02:59 AM

It is pro wrestling.... biz-e-ness

Vastardikai 04-24-2012 03:49 AM

Stan Hansen lost a lot of jobber matches by DQ in WCW, because he would just brutalize them and then whip them with his bullrope.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-24-2012 09:08 PM

Santinooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

beat Umaga

Wehttam 05-03-2012 06:59 PM

lightning foot jerry flynn

Big Vic 05-04-2012 08:23 AM

keep thinking the titles says "gays"

Curd 05-04-2012 09:00 PM

A pre-Flock Billy Kidman pinned Jerry Flynn on WCW Saturday Night with a cross body despite getting manhandled the entire five prior minutes of the match.

Curd 05-04-2012 09:02 PM

Also, MsChef versus any Gateway Championship Wrestling opponent NOT named Sean Vincent. Delirious and 3-way dances were the means by which the bookers made it logical for her to hold the GCW Lightweight belt for almost half a year.
